Book excerpt: On the fifth anniversary of her death and written during Debbie Ford's long battle with cancer, Your Holiness is a thoughtful and poignant exploration of the godliness that resides in all of us. The extraordinary way in which the manuscript to this book was found sets the foundation for its incredible message: medium James Van Praagh received a message from Debbie Ford's spirit telling him that she had an unpublished manuscript saved on her computer. James passed on the news to Debbie's sister, Arielle Ford, who found the manuscript exactly where it was said to be. Infused with Debbie's trademark frank honesty and keen insight, Your Holiness is a blueprint for recognizing and accepting our latent spirituality. Debbie combines motivational prayers with deeply personal stories about her own spiritual journey - how she struggled and eventually found her internal faith - and translates her experience into a practical path for transformation. Engaging and accessible, clear and unwavering, philosophical yet practical, Your Holiness is a gift to the soul that both guides and nourishes. At a time when so much in our world feels uncertain and suffering is widespread and persistent, Debbie's voice is more essential than ever. Your Holiness grounds us in the here and now while delivering a timeless and empowering message of relentless love and strength.

Book Be Not Afraid Winter Edition Dec Jan Feb 2018 19

Download or read book Be Not Afraid Winter Edition Dec Jan Feb 2018 19 written by Richard Havermale and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-10-15 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the continuation of my book series from my blog www.icemanforchrist.org which is based on more than 365 references in the Bible to fear, and dread and our response to them. St Pope John Paul II knew that our God encourages us to "Be Not Afraid" and told us so. To do this we must actively seek holiness and be in the presence of our Lord and talk to Him. I recommend you develop the habit of spending 10 to 15 minutes a day with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel or if that is not available some other quiet place where you can be in the company of our Lord. Read the daily entry and reflect on it asking our Lord and His mother to talk to your heart and reveal to you the will of the Father and then DO IT.

Book Holiness and Ministry

  • Author : Thomas B Dozeman
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2008-07-10
  • ISBN : 0199710236
  • Pages : 167 pages

Download or read book Holiness and Ministry written by Thomas B Dozeman and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2008-07-10 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The World Council of Churches has called for renewed theological reflection on the biblical roots of ordination to strengthen the vocational identity of the ordained and to provide a framework for ecumenical dialogue. This book is a response to that call. It is grounded in the assumption that the vocation of ordination requires an understanding of holiness and how it functions in human religious experience. The goal is to construct a biblical theology of ordination that is embedded in broad reflection on the nature of holiness. Dozeman's study of holiness and ministry interweaves three methodologies. The first, from the History of Religions, describes two theories of holiness in the study of religion, as a dynamic force and as a ritual resource. Both play a central role in biblical literature and establish the paradigm of ordination to Word and Sacrament in Christian tradition. Second, the study of the formation of the Mosaic Office illustrates how the two views of holiness model ordination to the prophetic word and to the priestly ritual. Third, Canonical Criticism provides the lens to explore the ongoing influence of the Mosaic Office in the New Testament literature. Holiness and Ministry will assist candidates for ordination to discern their call experience and establish professional identity within individual traditions of Christianity, while also providing a resource for ecumenical dialogue on the nature and purpose of Christian ordination.

Whatever your spiritual maturity level, this book will facilitate your path forward. The pursuit of holistic holiness has the potential to spark a reformation in the Church!

Book Holiness

  • Pages : 266 pages

Download or read book Holiness written by J. C. Ryle and published by . This book was released on 2012-10-01 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: J. C. Ryle's Holiness! is often considered the finest book on Christian life ever been written. "The twenty papers contained in this volume are a humble contribution to a cause which is exciting much interest in the present day - I mean the cause of scriptural holiness. It is a cause which everyone who loves Christ, and desires to advance His kingdom in the world, should endeavor to help forward. Everyone can do something, and I wish to add my mite. "The reader will find little that is directly controversial in these papers. I have carefully abstained from naming modern teachers and modern books. I have been content to give the result of my own study of the Bible, my own private meditations, my own prayers for light, and my own reading of old divines. If in anything I am still in error, I hope I shall be shown it before I leave the world. We all see in part, and have a treasure in earthen vessels. I trust I am willing to learn. "It is my heart's desire, and prayer to God daily, that personal holiness may increase greatly among professing Christians in England. But I trust that all who endeavor to promote it will adhere closely to the proportion of Scripture, will carefully distinguish things that differ, and will separate "the precious from the vile." (Jeremiah 15:19.)"

Book The Way of Holiness

Book excerpt: Phoebe Palmer's excellent Christian devotional is filled with lessons on attaining spiritual closeness to God, and living a life of a true believer with the Bible close to heart. Superb for her thoroughness in selecting the finest lessons from scripture, Phoebe Palmer begins each chapter of this book with a short yet poignant verse or quotation. This work is an account of the author's own discovery of faith, given in the order of spiritual awakenings she received in the process of becoming a good Christian. With her talent for plain explanation through both poem and text, the author mentions chapters of the Bible most useful for readers to reference. Part of this work is introspective, as Palmer observes the gradual change in her spirit as she endeavors to attain true nearness to God. Yet her narration is also part-biographical, recounting incidents and encounters with people who had a lasting effect on her spiritual journey. As one of the first female Christian writers, Palmer is conscious of her gender and the potential that this book might inspire and awaken the spirits of fellow women. Above all however, she is focused upon the path and way to holiness; a journey on which all believers must walk in mindful reverence of the divine.
