Book 3Story Participant s Guide

Download or read book 3Story Participant s Guide written by Dave Rahn and published by HarperChristian Resources. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You have a story to tell. Maybe you didn't realize that. When you decided to follow Jesus, your story really started to develop. God has a story to tell. Since before you were born, God has been pursuing you. He sent his son for you—and your friends. Your friends have stories. Maybe their stories don't include Jesus—yet. That's where you and 3Story come in. Evangelism is an essential element of every youth group. But when traditional evangelism methods prove awkward, ineffective, or uncomfortable for students to embrace, it’s almost impossible to equip your students to understand and share their faith. But 3Story® is different. 3Story is a way of life that guides followers of Christ to BE good news while telling stories of THE Good News. Based squarely on relationships, 3Story focuses God’s story, my story (the student), and their story (their friends). This curriculum course based on Youth for Christ’s 3Story training presents an interactive learning experience that equips students to live and practice the 3Story lifestyle—a biblically based, culturally relevant form of discipleship-evangelism that emphasizes being real in personal interactions.

Book An Evaluative Template for Peer to peer Models of Evangelism Applied to the 3Story Model

Download or read book An Evaluative Template for Peer to peer Models of Evangelism Applied to the 3Story Model written by John James Eitel and published by John J. Eitel. This book was released on 2009 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This ministry focus paper examines the “3Story” evangelism model through an evaluative template to establish if the model considers the theological, historical, developmental, and environmental factors of the task of peer-to-peer evangelism. While the language and methodology of evangelism seem to have remained unaltered within Christendom, the surrounding culture continues to change. Expectations and techniques that existed in the past now are being placed on an adolescent culture that neither understands nor connects with them. The result of this evaluation will be a greater awareness of the issues facing both models and practitioners when approaching the task of adolescent peer-to-peer evangelism. This study will be divided into four sections. The first section will examine the historical approaches to evangelism in North America and the efforts made to adapt these strategies for the task of adolescent peer-to-peer evangelism. This information will create evaluation markers for the evaluative template. The second section will explore the theology of peer-to-peer evangelism along with the dynamic of human relationships in both the Old and New Testament; the dynamics of how Jesus, His disciples, and the early Church shared the Good News in an interpersonal context; and, the role of the Church. This information will create evaluation markers for the theological measure of the evaluative template. The third section will explore the psychosocial development, spiritual development, and environmental issues of peer relationships and their implication to the task of peer-to-peer evangelism in a North American context. This information will create additional markers for the evaluative template. Finally, the last section will examine the “3Story” model through the template presented. It will discuss if the model is a viable strategy for adolescent peer-to-peer evangelism.

Book excerpt: One of the primary goals of a youth ministry is to help students learn to share their faith with people in their lives. However, evangelism often proves to be one of the toughest parts of student ministry. But evangelism and teenagers don’t have to be mutually exclusive terms. After two years of intense research, visiting the most effective youth ministries in the country, youth ministry veterans Dave Rahn and Terry Linhart offer youth workers tools to help develop students whose faith is courageous and contagious. In this thought-provoking, yet practical book, youth workers will be reminded of the importance of helping students develop to the point where they naturally influence others for Christ in their everyday lives. Evangelism Remixed offers principles that enable youth workers to evaluate their ministry’s evangelism effectiveness and provides step-by-step tools to help them put the concepts into real-life practice, including the importance of the role of adults as mentors and incorporating prayer into the process.

Book Getting Students to Show Up

Download or read book Getting Students to Show Up written by Jonathan McKee and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-07-13 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whenever I talk with youth workers at big events, I see the same look in their eyes. It’s the look of, “I want to pull off an event like this.” I regularly get phone calls from youth workers around the country saying, “We’ve never done anything like this before, but we wanted to do a big evangelism event . . .” At 80% of the events I speak at each year it seems as if the youth worker in charge expected large numbers, only to get a fourth of his or her expectations. The heart is there and the motives are pure . . . but the experience and know-how are in short supply. Most youth workers would love to pull off successful outreach events, if they only knew how. Youth workers are only learning how to program outreach events by “trial and error.” They need a resource to not only teach them the basics in programming outreach events, but also give them tools and examples that actually work. This book will help them understand the mindset of this outreach crowd, and give them the tools to plan effective outreach programs. The book will show them examples of how NOT to do it, as well as giving them “ready-made” events that work. It will also provide the basics such as the importance of DRAW, and aligning every single element with the events PURPOSE. The target market is all youth workers who want to plan weekly outreach programs, big events, or campus programs. A secondary audience would be student leaders who want to learn how to run 20 minute lunchtime “Bible Clubs,” geared for outreach. Youth workers would be the gatekeepers to this audience, because they are the ones who would purchase the books for their student leaders

Book Evangelism in a Skeptical World

Download or read book Evangelism in a Skeptical World written by Sam Chan and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2018-03-13 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Christians already know that they should be telling their friends about Jesus. But they have been poorly equipped with methods that are no longer effective in today's post-Christian world. As a result, many people become frustrated, blame themselves, and simply give up. Evangelism in a Skeptical World is a textbook on evangelism that is ideal for the church or the classroom to equip Christians with the principles and skills they need to tell the unbelievable news about Jesus to friends in a skeptical world. Many of the older principles and methods of evangelism in the twentieth century no longer work effectively today. In a post-Christian, post-churched, post-reached world we need new methods to communicate the timeless message of the gospel in culturally relevant ways. Dr. Chan combines the theological and biblical insights of classic evangelistic training with the latest insights from missiology on contextualization, cultural hermeneutics, and storytelling. Every chapter is illustrated with real-world examples drawn from over fifteen years of evangelistic ministry. These are methods that really work - with university students, urban workers, and high school students - getting past the defensive posture that people have toward Christianity so they can seriously consider the claims of Jesus Christ. Field-tested and filled with unique, fresh, and creative insights, this book will equip you to share the gospel in today's world and help as many people as possible hear the good news about Jesus.
