Book Renewable Energy

Download or read book Renewable Energy written by Manuel Perez Donsion and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-02-29 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a scientific point of view, several challenges to renewable energy come from the intermittent nature of energy sources such as wind, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal. These problems are currently being addressed with research on power electronics converters, storage systems, Artificial Intelligence techniques, new materials and production technologies, numerical analysis techniques, among others. This research endeavours to reduce costs and find alternative energy sources that are competitive with fossil fuels. Consequently, these efforts of the scientific community will contribute to improving the quality of life on the planet. This book summarises ten years of contributions to these topics, and contains a selection of the best papers presented at the International Conferences on Renewable Energy and Power Quality (ICREPQ) from 2003 to 2012. These contributions have been selected by a team of voluntary reviewers, with two to four reviewers assigned to each paper. At the end of this process only about 5% of all presented papers were selected. Considering each paper had been reviewed before, in order to be accepted for the conference, the selected papers represent “the best of the best”. The contributors to this book represent some of the leading authorities in their areas of expertise. This book will be of particular interest to professional engineers and researchers dealing with renewable energy exploitation, but will also prove useful to postgraduate level students. In addition, it can be used as a reference book for engineers, physicists and mathematicians who are interested and involved in the operation, project management, design, and analysis of renewable sources equipment.

Book Clean and Renewable Energy Production

Download or read book Clean and Renewable Energy Production written by Surajit Mondal and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2034-11-22 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CLEAN and RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION According to the World Renewable Energy Council (WREC), by the year 2100, the world’s population will increase to 12 billion and the worldwide energy demand will increase steeply to about five times the present scenario. Researchers are striving to find alternative forms of energy, and this quest is strongly forced by the increasing worry over climate change and planetary heating. Among the diverse varieties of alternative energy sources, biomass has the singular advantage of being carbon neutral. The carbon that is discharged to the atmosphere during its exercise is read back during the utilization of biomass resources for energy output. Currently, biomass provides approximately 13% of the world’s primary energy supply and more than 75% of global renewable energy. Indeed, it is estimated that bioenergy could contribute 25–33% of the global energy supply by 2050. Continued adoption of biomass will require efficient conversion rates and avoidance of competition with food and fibers. This book focuses on the recent practices in clean energy and renewable energy. The contributors highlight how newer technologies are reducing the dependency on non-renewable resources, benefiting the researchers who are working in the area of clean and renewable energy production. This new volume will also benefit mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and bioengineers as they will be updated with the recent work progressing all over the globe. It will benefit the professionals working in the renewable energy sector such as solar, wind, hydrothermal, hydrogen, and bioenergy, including professors, research scholars, industry professionals, and students working in this field.

Book Optimal operation configuration and sizing of energy storage and energy conversion technologies for residential house energy systems

Download or read book Optimal operation configuration and sizing of energy storage and energy conversion technologies for residential house energy systems written by Tobias Alexander Beck and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2020-06-23 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years a rapid growth in the interest in self-consumption of electricity generated by distributed electricity generation technologies such as rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems has been observed in the residential sector. Due to this development, future residential house energy systems will face an increased complexity with respect to operation, system configuration and sizing of generation and storage technologies. In this thesis, a mixed integer linear programming model for the integrated operation, configuration and sizing of house energy systems is developed and discussed with respect to its applicability to the specifics of self-consumption in residential dwellings. The conducted scenario analysis shows, that over a wide range of assumptions, PV is a robust measure to decrease the total cost of ownership for heat pump and gas boiler based house energy systems. The existence of a feed-in-tariff and the electricity price structure have a much larger influence on the results than the energy price development. A feed-in-tariff generally incentivizes larger PV systems with higher levels of self-sufficiency, whereas small demand-driven PV systems with high levels of self-consumption are favored in absence of a feed-in-tariff. Overall, the proposed model is regarded as applicable for the identified minimum flexibility requirements for the employed generation technologies. The results from the scenario computations provide a clear and robust picture of the role of electricity generation technologies and flexibility options for future house energy systems.
