Book Analysis and Implementation of a Two dimensional Wavelength time Optical Code division Multiple access System

Download or read book Analysis and Implementation of a Two dimensional Wavelength time Optical Code division Multiple access System written by Rhys Allan Adams and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The development and growth of new communication services and emerging applications requires high-performance access networks capable of providing high-bandwidth interconnections to end-users. In recent years, optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) has been proposed as a means for providing flexible access to high-bandwidth applications and offering different levels of quality of service. This thesis explores the impact of encoder/decoder mismatch on system performance for 2 dimensional wavelength-time (2D lambda-t) OCDMA and the implementation of a multi-user 2D lambda-t OCDMA direct detection demonstrator system. Our analysis and experimental demonstrations are based on depth-first search codes (DFSCs) which have previously been shown to be attractive in OCDMA applications. We have developed an OCDMA system simulation model that quantifies the BER performance as wavelength and/or time misalignments (which cause mismatch in the encoder/decoder) increase. Furthermore, we have succeeded in encoding and decoding DFSCs as well as in demonstrating a 4-user system which has been implemented using standard commercially available off-the-shelf optical components." --

Book Development of New Two Di emsional FCC MDW Code with Wavelength time Scheme in Optical Code Division Multiple Access OCDMA Network Systems

Download or read book Development of New Two Di emsional FCC MDW Code with Wavelength time Scheme in Optical Code Division Multiple Access OCDMA Network Systems written by Nui Din Keraf and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scope of this study involves with the capability of 2-D code by using W/T methods to suppress the influence of the MAI effect in the incoherent SAC-OCDMA system. A number of studies have examined the relationship between the MAI effect and the degradation of system bit error rate (BER) (Shiraz & Karbassian, 2012; Yin & Richardson, 2007). This newly proposed 2-D signature code can be obtained by combining of 1-D MDW (Aljunid et. al., 2004) and 1-D FCC (Rashidi, Aljunid, Ghani, Fadhil, Anuar, & Arief, 2014) codes known as 2-D FCC-MDW. The scheme used is based on wavelength and time encoding decoding process. Each user will be assigned a hybrid signature code where the optical pulses will be first encoded in the wavelength domain using MDW code scheme and later the FCC code will be encoded in the time domain. The serious issues to deal with when designing the code in OCDMA system with satisfactory performance is that the correlation properties and the number of users can be supported (Chen, 2007). Hence, to demonstrate the potential of this approach and its suitability for the application, the mathematical derivation is investigated. A simulation which uses OPTISYS simulation software Version 7.0 used to simulate the data which practically replicate a real system. The comparison will be carried out between the theoretical (mathematical analysis) and simulation data. In order to verify the analytical methods, all the mathematical development based on 2-D FCC-MDW code will be compared with the existing similar structured 2-D codes.

Book 2 D Wavelength time MDW Code Optimization for Cardinality Enhancement in OCDMA System

Download or read book 2 D Wavelength time MDW Code Optimization for Cardinality Enhancement in OCDMA System written by Amy Azura Mohamad Saufe and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research work focused on the investigation of 2-D MDW code by using OCDMA technique. The development of the suggested codes was focusing on incoherent W/T coding based on the matrix combination way. This code is the evolution from one-dimensional (1-D) MDW code. The code with the mathematical calculation is in matrix system. The row is for the number of user and the column is for temporal code length. Nevertheless, this system also wants to overcome the noise for example shot noise, thermal noise and phase-induce intensity noise in term of deterioration of BER. The results are only based on the simulation and theory. All the simulation part was done by using the optical simulator Optical Communication System Design Software or Optisystem Version 7.0 from Optiwave.

This book was released on 2006 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for high-performance networks to support emerging technologies, new applications, and innovative communication services. Optical code division multiple-access (OCDMA) has been proposed as a network solution offering flexible access to high-bandwidth applications while supporting different levels of quality of service. In this thesis, we provide the first demonstration of successful encoding and decoding of two-dimensional wavelength-time (2D lambda-t) OCDMA bipolar codes. Furthermore, we develop a generic simulation platform for investigating the impact of component mismatch, caused by wavelength and/or time misalignments in the optical encoders/decoders or misbalance in the photodetectors, on the bit error rate (BER) system performance of 2D lambda-t bipolar OCDMA systems. In particular we apply the simulation model to compare the performance of various 2D lambda-t bipolar codes." --

Book Development and Implemention of a Novel Code Family for Optical Code Divison Multiple Access System

Download or read book Development and Implemention of a Novel Code Family for Optical Code Divison Multiple Access System written by Syed Alwee Aljunid Syed Junid and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Future telecommunication systems and networks are expected to provide a variety of integrated broadband services to the customers. There has been a tremendous interest in applying Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) techniques to fiber optic cOmIDunication systems. This technique is one of the multiple access schemes that is becoming popular because of the flexibility in the allocation of channels, ability to operate asynchronously, enhanced privacy and increased capacity in bursty networks. The performance of any Optical CDMA (OCDMA) system strongly depends on the codes properties. In this study we introduce a new code for Optical CDMA namely Double Weight Code family (DW). Double Weight Code (DW) has a basic fixed weight of 2 and exists for every natural number. The DW codes possess ideal cross correlation properties, which have important characteristics in OCDMA systems since these can eliminate multiple access interference (MAl) and reduce noise. Also proposed in this study, a Modified Double-Wei~ht (MDW) code, which is a variation ofDW code family that can have a variable weight greater than two. The MDW code possesses ideal cross¬correlation properties alid exists for every natural number too. It is shown through simulations, theoretical analysis and partially by the experiments that the transmission performance of DW code family is significantly better than that of existing codes such as Modified Frequency Hopping code (MFH) and Hadamard code. The performance of DW code family, MFH and Hadamard codes were simulated using commercial simulation software, OptiSystem Version 3.0. The performance of the systems was characterized by referring to the bit error rate (BER) and the eye patterns. DW code family has shown superior performance compared to other OCDMA codes. The simulated eye pattern of one of the four MDW coded carriers running at 10Gbps over a communication-standard fiber shows a good quality transmission at the BER of 10-12 as opposed to only Hr3 and 10-4 for Hadamard and MFH codes. In optical CDMA systems, the detection process affects the design of transmitters and receivers. Cross-correlation functions are generated which creates Multiple Access Interference (MAl) and this will degrade the system performance. MAl can be reduced by using subtraction techniques. The most common subtraction technique is the complementary subtraction technique and also known as balanced detection technique. In this thesis, we also introduce a new approach called AND subtraction technique. This method rejects unwanted signals that interfere with the original signals. Furthermore, the purpose of this new subtraction technique is to reduce the receiver complexity and increase system performance. It has been shown through theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental work, the performance of the system with AND subtraction technique can be improved significantly. Based on the theoretical analysis, BER as good as 10-12 is achieved at the bit rate of 622 Mbps over 70 kIn distance.
