Book Social Work and Covid 19

Download or read book Social Work and Covid 19 written by Denise Turner and published by Critical Publishing. This book was released on 2021-01-11 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Captures the unique moment in time created by the Covid-19 pandemic and uses this as a lens to explore contemporary issues for social work education and practice. The 2020 coronavirus pandemic provided an unprecedented moment of global crisis, which placed health and social care at the forefront of the national agenda. The lockdown, social distancing measures and rapid move to online working created multiple challenges and safeguarding concerns for social work education and practice, whilst the unparalleled death rate exacerbated pre-existing problems with communicating openly about death and bereavement. Many of these issues were already at the surface of social work practice and education and this book examines how the health crisis has exposed these, whilst acting as a potential catalyst for change. This book acts as a testament to the historical moment whilst providing a forum for drawing together discussion from contemporary educators, practitioners and users of social work services.

Book COVID 19 and Co production in Health and Social Care Vol 1

Download or read book COVID 19 and Co production in Health and Social Care Vol 1 written by Beresford, Peter and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2021-05-24 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EPDF and EPUB available Open Access under CC-BY-NC-ND licence. Groups most severely affected by COVID-19 have tended to be those marginalised before the pandemic and are now largely being ignored in developing responses to it. This two-volume set of Rapid Responses explores the urgent need to put co-production and participatory approaches at the heart of responses to the pandemic and demonstrates how policymakers, health and social care practitioners, patients, service users, carers and public contributors can make this happen. The first volume investigates how, at the outset of the pandemic, the limits of existing structures severely undermined the potential of co-production. It also gives voice to a diversity of marginalised communities to illustrate how they have been affected and to demonstrate why co-produced responses are so important both now during this pandemic and in the future.

Book Social Work and Prostitution

Download or read book Social Work and Prostitution written by Martin Albert and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-15 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prostitution is a taboo fringe area of society, about which there is hardly any well-founded information and scientific knowledge. Women who work in prostitution have to struggle with social prejudices, social discrimination and legal disadvantages and therefore need specific counseling and low-threshold services. Social work has a long tradition of helping this target group on a case-by-case basis and advocates for the rights and dignity of women. From the perspective of professional social work, this volume provides an overview of the complexity of the field of prostitution and presents theoretical and methodological approaches. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Soziale Arbeit und Prostitution by Martin Albert and Julia Wege, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2015. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.

Book Rising Foreclosures in the United States A Perfect Storm

Download or read book Rising Foreclosures in the United States A Perfect Storm written by Kelly D. Edmiston and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the second qtr. of 2007, the share of outstanding mortg. in some stage of foreclosure (FC) stood at 1.4%, up from less than 1% a year earlier. The number of mortg. entering the FC process reached an all-time high in mid-2007. The FC surge was created by a perfect storm of events. First, the share of sub-prime mortg. originations increased. Second, FC rates for adjustable-rate mortg. (ARMs) have increased, esp. for sub-prime ARMs. Finally, high loan-to-value originations, coupled with stagnant or falling home prices, have left many people with insufficient equity to sell or to refinance their homes. Here is a dissection of the current FC surge. Discusses why the FC situation is likely to get worse over the next 2-3 years & why it is likely to improve afterward. Illus.

Book The Brightness of Stars Stories from Care Experienced Adults to Inspire Change

Download or read book The Brightness of Stars Stories from Care Experienced Adults to Inspire Change written by Lisa Cherry and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-07-14 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this poignant book, Lisa Cherry brings together a collection of candid and personal reflections on the care system in the UK, offering alternative ways of thinking about the care experience, supporting better ways of working, and providing justification for a trauma-informed lens to be applied to all forms of work with those in care. Through personal insights and reflections, the book brings often-unheard stories vividly to life, beginning with the author’s own. These are stories about love and pain; hurt and isolation; the depth of lived experience that makes up a life; how we live our lives through our relationships with others and where we feel we fit in. In this thoughtfully compiled third edition, original contributors look back on their own reflections from the lives that they live now, new stories bring new perspectives, and discussion points provide the opportunity to consider the realities of the care experience as well as life beyond. Whilst each story is unique, shared themes reveal the truth of the care system and, coming at a time where there is a real opportunity for change, the narratives in this book are ultimately stories of hope and connection. This is crucial reading for policy makers, those working in social work, education and adoption, as well as care experienced adults.

Book Calling Men out of the Cave

Download or read book Calling Men out of the Cave written by Nigel Mohammed and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-04 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the time of Saul, the people of God were in a small minority in a context of spiritual decline, yet Jonathan, who had an abusive father, courageously called six hundred men who were hiding in caves onto the battlefield. The battle shifted for Gods people because of one mans outstanding courage. Through the onslaught of secularism, humanism, and related ideologies, the church is viewed by the culture to be irrelevant-, a bit like these men hiding in caves because of the odds that are against them. Is this because men have been under some kind of enchantment? Under a spell from the enemy, who is inherently intangible and has caused the decline of Western culture from a biblical worldview to individualism, whose central idea now is that society can be composed of individuals without a central values system and heritage holding them together? To destroy a nation, the enemy has tried to dismantle families and, thus, masculinity and femininity. Therefore, a historical father absence is ultimately a spiritual battle and must be seen as such. Jesus lived in a little platoon of twelve men, trained, invested in, and released them; therefore we have a proven model to follow, why then have men been in serious decline from the church? Mentors and spiritual fathers who know their calling are needed to produce men who will reproduce disciples who in turn will also be mentors and spiritual fathers with courage and vision to restore the broken foundations. The foundations have been progressively dismantled, but men are called to be the foundation by knowing that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are the beloved of God, and this can be a catalyst to finding and living our calling to live in His larger story together.
