Download or read book Dermal Immune System written by Brian J. Nickoloff and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-06-04 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1992. Dermal Immune System discusses the structural and functional characterizations of the dermal immune system, including dermal dendritic cells, monocyte/macrophages, microvascular endothelial cells, pericytes, veil cells, fibroblasts, mast cells, dermal T lymphocytes, and peripheral nerve endings. This information is invaluable for gaining an understanding of how multicellular complex networks interface within the dermis and between the exogenous environment and endogenous milieu. Specific examples are provided that document the involvement of the dermal immune system in the pathophysiology of several skin diseases that result from perturbation of normal cutaneous homeostasis. Dermal Immune System is an excellent reference volume that should always be close at hand for immunologists, cell biologists, investigative dermatologists, pathologists, and clinicians involved in the care of patients with skin disease.
Download or read book A History of Mathematics Education during the Twentieth Century written by Angela Lynn Evans Walmsley and published by University Press of America. This book was released on 2007-05-22 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A History of Mathematics Education during the Twentieth Century describes the history of mathematics education in the United States with conceptual themes concerning philosophy, mathematics content, teacher education, pedagogy, and assessment. Each decade of the twentieth century is analyzed using historical documents, within the context of the aforementioned themes, to create a concise history of mathematical reform as it relates to history within the United States. Finally, conclusions are drawn as to which reform movements are similar and different throughout the century—depicting which aspects of reform can be seen again. Mathematics education tends to swing on a pendulum from "traditional education" including teacher-directed instruction with an emphasis on computation skills to "reform education," including student-directed instruction with an emphasis on problem solving. All decades are analyzed to see where they were on the pendulum and what aspects may have contributed to the current reform movements led by the Standards movement.

Download or read book Legal Canons written by Jack M Balkin and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2000-08-01 with total page 717 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every discipline has its canon: the set of standard texts, approaches, examples, and stories by which it is recognized and which its members repeatedly invoke and employ. Although the last twenty-five years have seen the influence of interdisciplinary approaches to legal studies expand, there has been little recent consideration of what is and what ought to be canonical in the study of law today. Legal Canons brings together fifteen essays which seek to map out the legal canon and the way in which law is taught today. In order to understand how the twin ideas of canons and canonicity operate in law, each essay focuses on a particular aspect, from contracts and constitutional law to questions of race and gender. The ascendance of law and economics, feminism, critical race theory, and gay legal studies, as well as the increasing influence of both rational-actor methodology and postmodernism, are all scrutinized by the leading scholars in the field. A timely and comprehensive volume, Legal Canons articulates the need for, and means to, opening the debate on canonicity in legal studies. Table of Contents
