  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 1441992189
  • Pages : 512 pages

Download or read book Applied System Simulation written by Mohammad S. Obaidat and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation and molding are efficient techniques that can aid the city and regional planners and engineers in optimizing the operation of urban systems such as traffic light control, highway toll automation, consensus building, public safety, and environmental protection. When modeling transportation systems such as freeway systems, arterial or downtown grid systems, the city planner and engineer is concerned with capturing the varied interactions between drivers, automobiles, and the infrastructure. Modeling and simulation are used to effectively optimize the design and operation of all of these urban systems. It is possible that in an urban simulation community workshop, citizens can work interactively in front of computers and be able using the click of the mouse to walk up to their own front porch, looking at the proposed shopping mall alternatives across the street from virtually any angle and proposed bridge or tunnel and see how it can reduce traffic congestion. Buildings can be scaled down or taken out, their orientation can be changed in order to check the view and orientation in order to have better site with efficient energy-conservation. The stone or brick material on a building can be replaced by colored concrete, or more trees and lampposts can be placed on the site. Such flexibility in simulation and animation allows creative ideas in the design and orientation of urban sites to be demonstrated to citizens and decision makers before final realization.

Book Large Scale Simulation

Download or read book Large Scale Simulation written by Dan Chen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large-Scale Simulation: Models, Algorithms, and Applications gives you firsthand insight on the latest advances in large-scale simulation techniques. Most of the research results are drawn from the authors’ papers in top-tier, peer-reviewed, scientific conference proceedings and journals. The first part of the book presents the fundamentals of large-scale simulation, including high-level architecture and runtime infrastructure. The second part covers middleware and software architecture for large-scale simulations, such as decoupled federate architecture, fault tolerant mechanisms, grid-enabled simulation, and federation communities. In the third part, the authors explore mechanisms—such as simulation cloning methods and algorithms—that support quick evaluation of alternative scenarios. The final part describes how distributed computing technologies and many-core architecture are used to study social phenomena. Reflecting the latest research in the field, this book guides you in using and further researching advanced models and algorithms for large-scale distributed simulation. These simulation tools will help you gain insight into large-scale systems across many disciplines.

Book High Performance Computing for Computational Science VECPAR 2002

Download or read book High Performance Computing for Computational Science VECPAR 2002 written by José M.L.M. Palma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-03 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 5th edition of the VECPAR series of conferences marked a change of the conference title. The full conference title now reads VECPAR 2002 — 5th Int- national Conference on High Performance Computing for Computational S- ence. This re?ects more accurately what has been the main emphasis of the conference since its early days in 1993 – the use of computers for solving pr- lems in science and engineering. The present postconference book includes the best papers and invited talks presented during the three days of the conference, held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal), June 26–28 2002. The book is organized into 8 chapters, which as a whole appeal to a wide research community, from those involved in the engineering applications to those interested in the actual details of the hardware or software implementation, in line with what, in these days, tends to be considered as Computational Science and Engineering (CSE). The book comprises a total of 49 papers, with a prominent position reserved for the four invited talks and the two ?rst prizes of the best student paper competition.

Book Advances in Modeling and Simulation
