Book 15 Minutes of Shame A Romantic Comedy

Download or read book 15 Minutes of Shame A Romantic Comedy written by Lisa Daily and published by Siesta Key House. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don't miss this satisfying, swoony, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy perfect for readers who love Christina Lauren, Emily Henry, and Helena Hunting Why am I hiding behind a dumpster at the Gas-N-Go in my pajamas, spying on Will? A month ago I was America's favorite TV relationships expert. Now? I'm the loser facing a major scandal, whose catastrophic love life is splashed across TMZ, social media, and every gossip show and supermarket tabloid — all because I got dumped by my husband on national TV. For a reality TV star. And that's not even the worst part. Now, I'm scrambling to un-shamble my life, make a comeback, and salvage what's left of my heart and my career — which is constantly complicated by the fact that I keep publicly screwing up (on camera, no less), my publicist is advising me to do some (let's say questionable) stuff to get my career back on track, and most of all, because I can't tell if my insanely sexy divorce attorney Holt is flirting with me, or just giving me legal advice. It definitely feels like flirting. Like, the best flirting of my entire life — the kind that makes all your parts tingle, not just your toes. Is that a bad thing? Yeah, it is — because if I fall for him, we'll both be torpedoing our careers, not to mention everything else that really matters to me. It's just so hard to stop... Click Buy Now to find out what happens when Darby must choose between everything she's always wanted -- and what she wants more than anything right now. Editorial Reviews: "My absolute favourite character was Holt, Darby's lawyer. He had some super Southern charm and I was a sucker for him from the first time we met him. Talk about swoon-worthy. It's almost worth getting married, just so Holt can be your divorce lawyer. I know he's fictional, but a girl can dream, right?" —Leah Graham, Chick Lit Reviews & News "A smart, hilariously funny gem of a book. Everything you want in romantic comedy; laugh out loud escapism at its finest." —Lisa Earle McLeod syndicated columnist, Buffalo News "Surprising depth and a heroine with heart to root for..." —Publishers Weekly "Comedy, romance, Fifteen Minutes of Shame has it all." —Coleen Murphy, Riverbank Studios "I was instantly hooked on this funny romance" - Clare Naylor Author of The Second Assistant "Lisa Daily has a knack for putting the "pop" back into pop culture. Book Keeping Up the Kardashian Brand

Download or read book Keeping Up the Kardashian Brand written by Amanda Scheiner McClain and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kardashian family is a contemporary cultural touchstone, recognizable throughout the world connoting warrantless celebrity, voluptuous beauty, and social media savviness. Amanda Scheiner McClain explores the Kardashians’ brand and celebrity via narrative discourse analyses of their hit reality television series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, social media utilization, and popular press coverage. This triangulated study allows insight into contemporaneous American culture: societal norms, values, and ideologies, as well as structural and cultural aspects of cross-platform brand creation. The television series examination finds intrinsic paradoxes of sexuality/conservatism, family/business, beauty/unhappiness, narcissism/celebrity, intimate/transgressiveness, and traditional/nontraditional gender roles, as well as materialism and public vs. private spheres themes. In addition, a study of the Kardashian blogs and Twitter use finds that their careful participation amplifies celebrity and unifies the overall brand into a single, sellable image across media. Through interactive media and just being themselves, the Kardashians renovate banal status updates and hackneyed reality television into character-constructing building blocks of brand, celebrity, and profits.

Book The Ugly Truth About Self Publishing

Download or read book The Ugly Truth About Self Publishing written by Oliver Markus Malloy and published by Bookmaester. This book was released on 2018-04-19 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Indie Author, Forget everything you think you know about writing and self-publishing. Chances are it's complete bullshit. Nowadays there are literally hundreds of thousands of people who dream of being a professional writer. And thanks to self-publishing and print-on-demand, there's nothing stopping you or anyone else from publishing whatever you want. Even if it's complete crap. The result? Every year, millions of shitty books get self-published. Books that should have never been published in the first place, because they are so bad, nobody wants to read them. While you're reading this little book, one of two things is likely gonna happen: Either you totally hate this book, because you feel what I'm saying is stepping on your toes and you may feel personally attacked. Or you wholeheartedly agree with this book, because you're one of the few good indie authors who actually have talent. But even if you hate every word I say, you probably should take the time to read this book anyway, because you'll learn a few very important things. I promise to keep it short. Oliver

By drawing on the imagery of runners in a race, following the example of Paul the apostle, Jim Hester looks at life as a contest between two ways: humanity's way and God's way. The line of thought in The Book of Life explores these two concepts, incorporating the six main sections of the Bible and the six days before Jesus's death and interpreting them in light of six different topics: problems, ideas, goals, attitudes, events and people.

Book Real Sister

  • Author : Jervette R. Ward
  • Publisher : Rutgers University Press
  • Release : 2015-11-02
  • ISBN : 0813575087

Download or read book Real Sister written by Jervette R. Ward and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From The Real Housewives of Atlanta to Flavor of Love, reality shows with predominantly black casts have often been criticized for their negative representation of African American women as loud, angry, and violent. Yet even as these programs appear to be rehashing old stereotypes of black women, the critiques of them are arguably problematic in their own way, as the notion of “respectability” has historically been used to police black women’s behaviors. The first book of scholarship devoted to the issue of how black women are depicted on reality television, Real Sister offers an even-handed consideration of the genre. The book’s ten contributors—black female scholars from a variety of disciplines—provide a wide range of perspectives, while considering everything from Basketball Wives to Say Yes to the Dress. As regular viewers of reality television, these scholars are able to note ways in which the genre presents positive images of black womanhood, even as they catalog a litany of stereotypes about race, class, and gender that it tends to reinforce. Rather than simply dismissing reality television as “trash,” this collection takes the genre seriously, as an important touchstone in ongoing cultural debates about what constitutes “trashiness” and “respectability.” Written in an accessible style that will appeal to reality TV fans both inside and outside of academia, Real Sister thus seeks to inspire a more nuanced, thoughtful conversation about the genre’s representations and their effects on the black community.
