Book Inhibitors to Coagulation Factors

Download or read book Inhibitors to Coagulation Factors written by Louis M. Aledort and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For the blood is the life . . . . "(Deut. 12 :23) " . . . because the blood, in its value as life, makes atonement" (Lev. 17: 11) HemoPhilia is a rare disease, severe hemophilia rarer still, yet the written history of hemophilia extends back over a millennium and a half. In the ancient Middle East, blood and life were coupled. Blood was the primary substance necessary for life, given to God in sacrifice and forbidden as a food to mortals by Levitical law. Blood was essential for rites of purification and consecration. But the flow of blood during menstruation or parturition rendered a woman unclean. The circumcision of a male child required 33 days of "blood purification" by the mother. ' Circumcision, the visible reminder of the covenant of Abraham lijith Yahweh, was required of newborn Jewish males. It "connote(d) suitability for participation in what God is doing. "2 Hence, free and uncontrolled bleeding of the male child during circumcision, during the ratification of God's covenant, would be noted with awe and concern by those of the Jewish faith. It should not be surprising that the first genetic counseling offered to families with hemophilia is found in the Babylonian Talmud (compilation of Jewish law dated to about the third century AD) and concerns the necessity for circumcision in families with what we would now call hemophilia.

Book excerpt: In 1998, scientist, healer, and mystic Jude Currivan heard an inner message—a call to undertake a global quest that would transform her life and take her and her fellow travelers on an inner and outer odyssey that would ultimately reveal our hidden heritage and cosmic destiny. The initial intention of these journeys was to activate the healing energies of 12 ancient Lemurian artifacts around the earth to support the collective shift of awareness prophesied for 2012. But an even deeper purpose began to unfold. . . The native elders of indigenous traditions around the world say that in these momentous times, "We are the ones we have been waiting for." As did the heroes of mythology, we are now about to embark on a spiritual quest to remember the wholeness of who we really are. The 12 activations and the opening of a galactic portal were completed during the December solstice of 2003, but in 2006 a further call heralded a 13th healing journey. This book shares an inspirational message of hope and reconciliation. It offers an empowering call for every one of us to embody our own divinity and fulfill our highest purpose as the heroes of this transformation.

Book excerpt: Showing familiarity with the enormous literature on subcontracting in manufacturing both within and outside India, and displaying ability to critically evaluate the literature, this study does a commendable job in managing to collect very useful data for the study of a lead or parent firm and its ancillary units in the 1980s, and thereby give a concrete flavor of the subcontracting relationship. On the basis of the case study, it is highlighted that the subcontracting relationship between the large parent firm and small ancillary firms is symbiotic for the takers of subcontracts and beneficial to the parent firm.
