Download or read book The Elusive God written by Yakir Z. Shoshani and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-10-18 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What meanings can be ascribed to the existence of God? This question has been investigated by prominent thinkers throughout the ages, and led several of them to suggest arguments for proving this existence and explaining its meaning. The first part of this book reviews some of these proofs and their criticism. Following this discussion, it suggests a new meaning and characterization of God as a connector between different types of entities. This idea sheds new light on several interesting problems, including the emergence of plurality in reality from the unity of God. The second section deals with God and the human mind, and focuses mainly on the mind-body bifurcation problem, the problem of free will, and the existence of consciousness and soul. The third part discusses several problems associated with God and the world. Special emphasis is laid here upon God and the laws of nature, the creation of the universe, and the impact of modern Physics on the belief in God’s existence.

Book Quantum Theory and Symmetries

Download or read book Quantum Theory and Symmetries written by M. B. Paranjape and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the CRM Conference Series is based on a carefully refereed selection of contributions presented at the "11th International Symposium on Quantum Theory and Symmetries", held in Montreal, Canada from July 1-5, 2019. The main objective of the meeting was to share and make accessible new research and recent results in several branches of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, including Algebraic Methods, Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation, Integrability, Non-perturbative Quantum Field Theory, Particle Physics, Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Theory, and String/ADS-CFT. There was also a special session in honour of Decio Levi. The volume is divided into sections corresponding to the sessions held during the symposium, allowing the reader to appreciate both the homogeneity and the diversity of mathematical tools that have been applied in these subject areas. Several of the plenary speakers, who are internationally recognized experts in their fields, have contributed reviews of the main topics to complement the original contributions. .

Book Advances in Classical Field Theory

Download or read book Advances in Classical Field Theory written by Asher Yahalom and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2011 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation Classical field theory is employed by physicists to describe a wide variety of physical phenomena. These include electromagnetism, fluid dynamics, gravitation and quantum mechanics. The central entity of field theory is the field which is usually a multi component function of space and time. Those multi component functions are usually grouped together as vector fields as in the case in electromagnetic theory and fluid dynamics, in other cases they are grouped as tensors as in theories of gravitation and yet in other cases they are grouped as complex functions as in the case of quantum mechanics. In order to know the value of the field one needs to solve a set of coupled partial differential equations with given boundary and initial conditions. The book covers a selection of recent advances in classical field theory involving electromagnetism, fluid dynamics, gravitation and quantum mechanics. Advances in Classical Field Theory will benefit readers by saving them the effort to read through numerous journal articles which would be needed to obtain a coherent picture of classical field theory otherwise. The book is unique in its aim and scope and is not similar to any existing publication.

Book Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics

Download or read book Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics written by Vladimir Dobrev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-09 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, Lie Theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrisation of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry which is very helpful in understanding its structure. Geometrisation and symmetries are meant in their broadest sense, i.e., classical geometry, differential geometry, groups and quantum groups, infinite-dimensional (super-)algebras, and their representations. Furthermore, we include the necessary tools from functional analysis and number theory. This is a large interdisciplinary and interrelated field. Samples of these new trends are presented in this volume, based on contributions from the Workshop “Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics” held near Varna, Bulgaria, in June 2011. This book is suitable for an extensive audience of mathematicians, mathematical physicists, theoretical physicists, and researchers in the field of Lie Theory.

Book The Casimir Effect 50 Years Later

Download or read book The Casimir Effect 50 Years Later written by Michael Bordag and published by World Scientific Publishing Company Incorporated. This book was released on 1999 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains papers based on talks delivered at the Fourth Workshop on Quantum Field Theory Under the Influence of External Conditions. This series of workshops, held at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of Leipzig, was launched in 1989. The present meeting took place 50 years after Hendrik B Casimir discovered the effect named after him. This effect was found by Casimir in investigating the retarded long range van der Waals forces in colloids and re-expressing them as a change in the vacuum energy of the electromagnetic field. The story of why this work was done was told by Casimir himself at the workshop. A historical account of the development of vacuum energy in quantum theory starting from Planck's half quanta was given by H Rechenberg. Another interesting topic was about a possible explanation of sonoluminescence as a dynamical Casimir effect. Kim Milton reported on the work done by Julian Schwinger on this topic during the last years of the great physicist's life, as well as on his own research. M Bordag (Leipzig) provided a general analysis of the ultraviolet divergences of the vacuum energy of a dielectric sphere.
