This book was released on 2018-05-13 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God called me in September 1994. It was during my quiet time before going out for my consulting practice. I was then the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Consultant of Alaryn Management Centre Ltd. I was deeply involved in boosting sales, training and equipping managers and officers of various companies who retained us as their Management/Training consultant. By the grace of God, several small and big companies grew and benefitted from our consulting services. I heard God clearly telling me on that fateful morning thus "The same things you are giving to the business world, package it, give it to my church, beginning with the Bible..." I have been doing just that since 1994, as CEO Christian Leadership Skills Inc. The divine call is one of the reasons why I wrote this book. I have been involved in Christian leadership since 1982. But I started pastoring in 1995, as Senior Pastor. It has been my motivation, desire and passion to see God's work grow and progress. Most of the principles in this book, if not all, have been practiced with results in our ministry. When I was privileged to become the President of AGAPE Conference in 1987, only one or two churches attended. By 2003, 203 churches from 85 denominations became regular participants. In other words, I am a fellow student with you dear precious reader in this same school of church growth. This is the second reason why I wrote this book . My wife, Lara, is a Mathematician. She has been teaching Mathematics since 1989. Naturally, she likes computation and percentages. We came back from a Pastors' meeting one evening, Lara analyzed the various reports submitted by about 187 churches. Her statistical conclusion got my attention. She found out that only two churches of the lot were above 1,000 in attendance. Only one church was 500 in attendance, ten churches averaged 300 worshippers. About twenty-four churches were above 100. One hundred and fifty churches were below 100 in attendance. Though our church was above 1,000 at that time, we received a burden, a mandate to seek for what factors make for church growth. When we searched further, we discovered that 87% of churches in Nigeria were below 200 in attendance. This is the third reason why I wrote this book. It is to report our findings on what make churches grow. I have also discovered that success in ministry is more than numbers. What makes for success in the eyes of God, the LORD of the harvest, is not the same indices used by men to bench mark success. There are habits found with successful pastors. In fact, by and large, success in ministry is an inside job. No work can grow faster on the outside than the man behind the work is growing on the inside. This is my fourth reason for writing this book. The challenge of growth is enormous in the gospel ministry in Nigeria and Africa. The problem and challenges we face are not the same as those faced in other lands and under different climes. The few books we are reading on Church Growth are written by foreign authors, far removed from our context. Many are not relevant to Africa. Except from the writings of Dr. Francis Akin-John, Bishiop David Oyedepo, Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo and very few others, there are not many books and literature on what makes churches and ministries to grow in our contemporary African setting. If this gap is filled a little by this book, then the fifth reason for its writing is justified. We need to continually elevate our thoughts in search of solutions to problems that confront us today. We can not solve our current problems with the level of thinking of yesteryears. This book is a little effort to advance the frontiers of knowledge on the subject of church growth. This is the seventh reason why it took me about 25 years of christian leadership experience, over a decade in pastoring small and growing large churches, and 100,0000 hours, to put down 100 ways to increase church attendance.

Book 100 Ways to Increase Church Finance

Download or read book 100 Ways to Increase Church Finance written by Albert O. Aina and published by . This book was released on 2018-05-13 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been in Christian leadership since 1982. It has been my discovery that almost every church has a plan and a need to raise money to finance projects for God's work. But research has shown that 85% of Pastors feel they have not been taught or empowered to teach principles of biblical stewardship, prosperity and finance. It was also discovered that 90 percent of churches have no programme to teach stewardship principles. This is the first reason why I wrote this book to provide information about stewardship in the local church. My consulting experience with church leaders and pastors for about two decades, across 105 denominations and hundreds of churches, has revealed one major challenge of churches today: how to transform their people unto faithful, committed witnesses and givers. One week after my ninth book: 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE, was released, I met a General Overseer who has read the 100 chapters in the book. He urged me to show the church world "HOW TO INCREASE CHURCH FINANCE". The calls increased both from outside and inside for this book. Lara and I took up the idea to the LORD in prayers in a two day retreat, end of February 2008. God gave us a release and commission to write. This is the second reason why I wrote this book: to be a resource of tested and tried stewardship and church finance material. When we pioneered our first church in 1995, our mother church gave us only prayer, but no silver and gold. I believe if our mother church had enough to spare they would have given us something with which to start. Infact, our mother church requested for 100% of our tithes and offerings for the initial four years, because the church was building her new sanctuary at that time. I have seen many small congregations struggle to avoid having to close their doors. Some are tenants for over twenty years, with no building plans in sight. To many full time, salaried pastors and their families, ministry has become a misery in the face of finances. As indicated in my book: 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE, 87% of churches in Nigeria are below 200 in attendance. This percentage will definitely be higher in other countries, who are not experiencing the level of revival currently happening in Nigerian church world. Many of the larger churches have had to scale back programmes and suspend plans for expansion for the same reason of finance. This is the third reason for writing this book: to help meet the needs of growing a church in financial matters.Giving is a sign of Christian life, a vital sign for that matter. Why do I say this? There are over 2,300 references to money and possessions in the Bible. At the same time, prayer is only mentioned 500 times, in the entire scriptures. Yet, prayer is the very oxygen by which the soul breaths. Ironically, studies have revealed that about 35% of pastors don't preach about giving or tithing. 90% of churches have no programme to teach stewardship principles or Bible Economics. This is the fourth reason for writing this book: to provide a strategic plan of stewardship and giving emphasis for the local church.Giving to churches, overall, is decreasing. The per capital giving in churches are going down rapidly. Researches have shown that "only I or 2 out of 10 Christians are giving 10 percent of their income to the Lord's work." The average annual amount of money donated to churches per person is declining. Many factors account for this. These factors are treated comprehensively in this book. Pastors who wonder why this is so should realize that the ways in which today's new generation of believers give is far different from the way the older generations give. There are many other churches and Para church ministries competing for the limited purse of contributors. This is the fifth reason why I wrote this book, to assist the pastors in developing a giving environment and to expand the giving base of the church.

Book How to Break Growth Barriers

Download or read book How to Break Growth Barriers written by Carl F. George and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some churches grow rapidly, only to hit a ceiling. Other churches have experienced declining or static attendance--many of them for decades. Frustrated pastors and church leaders want growth methods that work, but without adding to pastoral fatigue. How to Break Growth Barriers argues that growth comes when effective leadership and lay-empowerment skills work hand in hand. This requires a shift of focus from the shepherd as the primary caregiver to shepherd as developer and coach of many caregivers. The authors show pastors how to communicate a vision for the future and then how to lead the congregation into the paradigms necessary for potentially limitless growth. The strategies found in this book are not only tried and true, and taken from a biblical perspective of a "harvest" vision. They're also newly updated to reflect our changing culture, including helpful charts and checklists for self-evaluation.

Book 99 Laws of Follow Up and Retention that Grow Mega Churches

Download or read book 99 Laws of Follow Up and Retention that Grow Mega Churches written by Albert O Aina and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-08-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ministry Success, especially Church Work is governed by laws, and Principles. There are Church Growth laws and principles that generate healthy growth. I knew this as a fact after I wrote 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE in 2007. There are Evangelistic laws and strategies that attract six different categories of prospects into the Church. That was why I wrote SMART FISHING STRATEGIES in 2012 and followed with 104 EVANGELIST AND DISCIPLESHIP STRATEGIES in 2020. After writing and practicing ATTRACTING, RETAINING & ASSIMILATING MORE FIRST TIME GUESTS IN YOUR CHURCH, in 2013, I knew, seven years later, that there are yet 99 LAWS OF FOLLOW UP AND RETENTION THAT GROW MEGA CHURCHES. Several of these 99 LAWS OF FOLLOW UP AND RETENTION, came by trial, failure and error. Some came by Diving Inspiration. A case is point is MASS ATTACK APPROACH TO FOLLOW UP which was revealed to me in our previous parish in 2001. I taught my workers on MASS ATTACK APPROACH TO FOLLOW UP and our Church attendance increased from 400 to 620 in 60 days. That was what qualified me to teach and write on it authoritatively. Most of the Laws in this book were uncovered in the laboratory of three decades of Ministerial and Pastoral experience. Yet more of the laws were discovered in my Library research and insights from Church Growth practitioners and foremost authors. From my experience as a Church Growth Trainer and Church Management Consultant/Chief Executive Officer of Christian Leadership Skills, since 1994, I have come to realize that a good handle on these Follow Up Laws and Principles, bathed in Prayers, is what builds healthy growing churches. Authorities on Church Growth and Church Health have come to a conclusion that "Simply by keeping a finger on the pulse of Follow up and Assimilation, you will see a huge difference in the growth of your Church" Putting my finger on the pulse of Follow up and Assimilation in some of the Churches that I pastored in the last three decades has brought a tremendous difference. We once received 46 first time guests in a particular weekend service. Two months down the line, we retained 42 of these precious souls. Experience is the best Teacher, provided it is not your own experience. By experience, sometimes, very bitter ones, I have discovered that not every Follow Up strategy will work in every given situation. I have applied some and they did not work as desired. In fact, in a particular case, it backfired. My first time guest once declared "I will never step into your Church again." That was in 1999. She kept her word. She was a Director with one of the State's Government. My wife, Lara and I, had followed up this top Government official, stood by her on her major challenges, until we finally invited her to join our church. This book, 99 LAWS OF FOLLOW UP AND RETENTION has put together in one smart volume, everything that I have ever practiced, read or taught on the subject matter in the last thirty years.

Book Effectiveness By The Numbers

Download or read book Effectiveness By The Numbers written by William R. Hoyt and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2011-07-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accurately counting the right things can profoundly impact ministry effectiveness. Knowing “the story in the stats” can inform decisions and lead to the things that produce the results most pleasing to God. Gathering and studying the right numbers can help a church wisely invest its resources of time, effort, people, money, and facilities. Effectiveness by the Numbers will help ensure that your church is measuring the right things for the right reasons. Counting what counts enables a church to fulfill its mission--making mature followers of Jesus Christ. Jesus and his disciples counted. They knew how many he fed with the five loaves and fishes. When a crowd gathered they often knew and recorded the number of men, women and children present for the event. The early church counted. They knew that on the day of Pentecost about 3,000 were added to their number. The book of Acts reports that “many believed,” “people were added,” and “many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.” If Jesus counted and the early church kept track of numbers, it is not unreasonable to expect churches today to use metrics to increase their effectiveness in doing God’s work on earth. Chapter One: The Fear of Numbers Chapter Two: If You Could Count Only One Thing Chapter Three: How Many and How Often Chapter Four: How Many Stick? Chapter Five: How Many Serve? Chapter Six: Who's New? Chapter Seven: Growing by Staying Small Chapter Eight: What's More Important than Dollars? Chapter Nine: What Product Are You Producing Anyway? About the author: William R. Hoyt During his 38 years of ministry, Dr. Bill Hoyt has served as Pastor, Seminary Professor, Executive Minister of the Southwest Baptist Conference and a consultant to churches, denominations and other not-for-profit corporations. By virtue of his varied background, Dr. Hoyt has been privileged to observe countless churches from many different vantage points. Dr. Hoyt is the President of NexStep Coaching and Consulting, an organization committed to enhancing the effectiveness of Christian leaders and organizations through executive coaching and consulting for organizational development. Dr. Hoyt is also President of UniReach International, a non-profit organization that engages in humanitarian work in Vietnam. Dr. Hoyt and his wife Gwyn have been married for 40 years. They have two sons and daughters-in-law, a granddaughter and three grandsons.

Book excerpt: When You Talk, Are People Changed? Whether you speak from the pulpit, podium, or the front of a classroom, you don’t need much more than blank stares and faraway looks to tell you you’re not connecting. Take heart before your audience takes leave! You can convey your message in the powerful, life-changing way it deserves to be told. An insightful, entertaining parable that’s an excellent guide for any speaker, Communicating for a Change takes a simple approach to delivering effectively. Join Pastor Ray as he discovers that the secrets to successful speaking are parallel to the lessons a trucker learns on the road. By knowing your destination before you leave (identifying the one basic premise of your message), using your blinkers (making transitions obvious), and implementing five other practical points, you’ll drive your message home every time! “Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away…” “Once upon a time…” “In the beginning…” Great stories capture and hold an audience’s attention from start to finish. Why should it be any different when you stand up to speak? In Communicating for a Change, Andy Stanley and Lane Jones offer a unique strategy for communicators seeking to deliver captivating and practical messages. In this highly creative presentation, the authors unpack seven concepts that will empower you to engage and impact your audience in a way that leaves them wanting more. “Whether you are a senior pastor with weekly teaching responsibilities or a student pastor who has bern charged with engaging the hearts and minds of high school students, this book is a must-read.” -Bill Hybels, Senior pastor, Willow Creak Community Church “A very practical resource for every biblical communicator who wants to go from good to great.” -Ed Young, Senior pastor, Fellowship Church, Grapevine, Texas “To communicate effectively, you have to connect. Leaders of thousands of people, they regularly speak in front of large groups. They also listen to numerous speakers and know the disastrous effects of a poorly delivered message.
