Book Proof of the 1 Factorization and Hamilton Decomposition Conjectures

Download or read book Proof of the 1 Factorization and Hamilton Decomposition Conjectures written by Béla Csaba and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper the authors prove the following results (via a unified approach) for all sufficiently large n: (i) [1-factorization conjecture] Suppose that n is even and D≥2⌈n/4⌉−1. Then every D-regular graph G on n vertices has a decomposition into perfect matchings. Equivalently, χ′(G)=D. (ii) [Hamilton decomposition conjecture] Suppose that D≥⌊n/2⌋. Then every D-regular graph G on n vertices has a decomposition into Hamilton cycles and at most one perfect matching. (iii) [Optimal packings of Hamilton cycles] Suppose that G is a graph on n vertices with minimum degree δ≥n/2. Then G contains at least regeven(n,δ)/2≥(n−2)/8 edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles. Here regeven(n,δ) denotes the degree of the largest even-regular spanning subgraph one can guarantee in a graph on n vertices with minimum degree δ. (i) was first explicitly stated by Chetwynd and Hilton. (ii) and the special case δ=⌈n/2⌉ of (iii) answer questions of Nash-Williams from 1970. All of the above bounds are best possible.

Book Factorization Algebras in Quantum Field Theory Volume 1

Download or read book Factorization Algebras in Quantum Field Theory Volume 1 written by Kevin Costello and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-12-15 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Factorization algebras are local-to-global objects that play a role in classical and quantum field theory which is similar to the role of sheaves in geometry: they conveniently organize complicated information. Their local structure encompasses examples like associative and vertex algebras; in these examples, their global structure encompasses Hochschild homology and conformal blocks. In this first volume, the authors develop the theory of factorization algebras in depth, but with a focus upon examples exhibiting their use in field theory, such as the recovery of a vertex algebra from a chiral conformal field theory and a quantum group from Abelian Chern-Simons theory. Expositions of the relevant background in homological algebra, sheaves and functional analysis are also included, thus making this book ideal for researchers and graduates working at the interface between mathematics and physics.

Download or read book One Factorizations written by W.D. Wallis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has grown out of graduate courses given by the author at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, as well as a series of seminars delivered at Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. The book is intended to be used both as a textbook at the graduate level and also as a professional reference. The topic of one-factorizations fits into the theory of combinatorial designs just as much as it does into graph theory. Factors and factorizations occur as building blocks in the theory of designs in a number of places. Our approach owes as much to design theory as it does to graph theory. It is expected that nearly all readers will have some background in the theory of graphs, such as an advanced undergraduate course in Graph Theory or Applied Graph Theory. However, the book is self-contained, and the first two chapters are a thumbnail sketch of basic graph theory. Many readers will merely skim these chapters, observing our notational conventions along the way. (These introductory chapters could, in fact, enable some instructors to Ilse the book for a somewhat eccentric introduction to graph theory.) Chapter 3 introduces one-factors and one-factorizations. The next two chapters outline two major application areas: combinatorial arrays and tournaments. These two related areas have provided the impetus for a good deal of study of one-factorizations.

Book Factors and Factorizations of Graphs

Download or read book Factors and Factorizations of Graphs written by Jin Akiyama and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-06-23 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book chronicles the development of graph factors and factorizations. It pursues a comprehensive approach, addressing most of the important results from hundreds of findings over the last century. One of the main themes is the observation that many theorems can be proved using only a few standard proof techniques. This stands in marked contrast to the seemingly countless, complex proof techniques offered by the extant body of papers and books. In addition to covering the history and development of this area, the book offers conjectures and discusses open problems. It also includes numerous explanatory figures that enable readers to progressively and intuitively understand the most important notions and proofs in the area of factors and factorization.

Book The Fred Factor

Download or read book The Fred Factor written by Mark Sanborn and published by Crown Currency. This book was released on 2004-04-20 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The true story of a seemingly ordinary mail carrier whose approach to work and life has the power to transform the everyday into the extraordinary “This beloved business classic has inspired millions of people over the years, and today Mark Sanborn’s transformative insights are more timely and necessary than ever.”—Jon Gordon, author of The Energy Bus and co-author of The Coffee Bean Meet Fred. In this small yet powerful book, Mark Sanborn, member of the Speaker Hall of Fame, recounts the story of a USPS carrier who introduced himself one day shortly after Sanborn had moved to a new home in Denver. Fred, however, was no average mailman. As Sanborn came to discover, Fred was the kind of worker who exemplifies everything “right” with customer service. Did people want packages left on the porch or prefer a notice to pick them up at the post office? Fred made sure he knew the answer. When another delivery service left a package at the wrong house, Fred shepherded it safely to the intended recipient. Others might have seen delivering mail as less-than-glamorous work, but Fred seized the chance to find meaning in the mundane, competing with himself every day to find opportunities to make his customers smile. We’ve all encountered people like Fred. In this deeply inspiring book, Sanborn illuminates the four basic principles anyone can use to bring fresh energy and creativity to our work and life: how to make a tangible difference every day, build stronger relationships, create real value for others without spending a penny, and constantly reinvent yourself.

Book Prime Numbers and Computer Methods for Factorization

Download or read book Prime Numbers and Computer Methods for Factorization written by Hans Riesel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the modern age of almost universal computer usage, practically every individual in a technologically developed society has routine access to the most up-to-date cryptographic technology that exists, the so-called RSA public-key cryptosystem. A major component of this system is the factorization of large numbers into their primes. Thus an ancient number-theory concept now plays a crucial role in communication among millions of people who may have little or no knowledge of even elementary mathematics. The independent structure of each chapter of the book makes it highly readable for a wide variety of mathematicians, students of applied number theory, and others interested in both study and research in number theory and cryptography.
