Book Zeolite and MgO supported Metal Complexes and Clusters

Download or read book Zeolite and MgO supported Metal Complexes and Clusters written by Ceren Aydin and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a search for a fundamental understanding of supported catalysts, supported metal catalysts with essentially molecular structures were synthesized by anchoring organometallic precursors with well-defined structures to uniform and highly crystalline supports. The supports include zeolite NaY, zeolite HSSZ-53 and MgO. The metals include osmium, iridium, and gold, and the corresponding precursors were Os3(CO)12, Ir(C2H4)2(acac), Ir(CO)2(acac), and Au(CH3)2(acac). Characterization of the supported species at the atomic scale was carried out by X-ray absorption (XAS) and infrared (IR) spectroscopies used in tandem with aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). The transformations of these species were tracked, with the data taken under (a) working conditions of a catalyst (during a reaction), (b) in the presence of a reactive atmosphere, or (c) under the influence of the electron beam in the STEM. Time-resolved spectra and images demonstrate the structural changes in the catalysts involving the nuclearity of the metal species, the metal-ligand and metal-support interactions. Fully resolved structures were correlated with catalytic activity for ethylene hydrogenation and CO oxidation reactions. Influence of channel confinement and cage dimensions of a zeolite on cluster formation were investigated starting with Ir1 species. First steps of cluster formation giving Ir2 and Ir3 were tracked in 1D channels of zeolite HSSZ-53 and formation of Ir6 species in 3D supercages of zeolite NaY was examined. Moreover, last steps of cluster growth were revealed by the discovery a sinter-resistant catalyst with a critical diameter of ~1 nm (Ir~40). Characterization with single atom sensitivity help pinpoint atomically dispersed gold catalytic sites on zeolite NaY during CO oxidation and site-isolated Os(CO)2 species formed by fragmentation of Os3 carbonyls on MgO surface. The results show how fundamental understanding can guide the design of catalysts incorporating metal atoms in nanoscale spaces or on surfaces and help unravel the transport of metal atoms and characterize the bonding sites for catalytic species.

This book was released on 2010-01-26 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first book to offer a practical overview of zeolites and their commercial applications provides a practical examination of zeolites in three capacities. Edited by a globally recognized and acclaimed leader in the field with contributions from major industry experts, this handbook and ready reference introduces such novel separators as zeolite membranes and mixed matrix membranes. The first part of the book discusses the history and chemistry of zeolites, while the second section focuses on separation processes. The third and final section treats zeolites in the field of catalysis. The three sections are unified by an examination of how the unique properties of zeolites allow them to function in different capacities as an adsorbent, a membrane and as a catalyst, while also discussing their impact within the industry.

In an interdisciplinary approach, basic concepts as well as recent developments in research and practical applications are authoritatively discussed by leading authors. Topics covered include 'naked' metal clusters, clusters stabilized by ligands, clusters in solids, and colloids. The reader will find answers to questions like: * How many metal atoms must a particle have to exhibit metallic properties? * How can the large specific surface of clusters and colloids be employed in catalysts? * How can metal clusters be introduced into solid hosts? * Which effects are responsible for the transition from isolated to condensed clusters? The editor has succeeded in bringing the contributions of various authors together into a homogeneous, readable book, which will be useful for the academic and industrial reader alike.

Book Handbook of Solid State Chemistry 6 Volume Set

This book was released on 2017-10-23 with total page 3912 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This most comprehensive and unrivaled compendium in the field provides an up-to-date account of the chemistry of solids, nanoparticles and hybrid materials. Following a valuable introductory chapter reviewing important synthesis techniques, the handbook presents a series of contributions by about 150 international leading experts -- the "Who's Who" of solid state science. Clearly structured, in six volumes it collates the knowledge available on solid state chemistry, starting from the synthesis, and modern methods of structure determination. Understanding and measuring the physical properties of bulk solids and the theoretical basis of modern computational treatments of solids are given ample space, as are such modern trends as nanoparticles, surface properties and heterogeneous catalysis. Emphasis is placed throughout not only on the design and structure of solids but also on practical applications of these novel materials in real chemical situations.

Book Recent advances in shape selectivity of MFI zeolite and its effect on the catalytic performance

Download or read book Recent advances in shape selectivity of MFI zeolite and its effect on the catalytic performance written by Lan Zhang and published by OAE Publishing Inc.. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MFI zeolite characterized by uniform pore size, adjustable acidity, and high-temperature resistance has a broad application prospect in catalytic reactions. However, controlling the product distribution of zeolite as a catalyst is still confronting great challenges and applications. It is considered as an effective way to control the product distribution by developing and improving new zeolites to modulate their shape selective effect. In recent years, researchers have achieved remarkable successes in investigating the shape selective modulation of zeolites on catalytic reaction and molecular diffusion. The microporous channels of MFI zeolite are the main places for the entry and exit of reactants or product molecules. This review provides the research progress of the shape-selective modulation of MFI zeolite channels and its influence on a series of catalytic performances in recent years. The shape-selective modulation of microporous channels of zeolite, encapsulation of micropores to metals, catalysis of mesoporous zeolite, and the distribution of framework Al were all systematically discussed. The development of advanced catalysts still faces great challenges and potential applications. Finally, we discussed the problems to be addressed urgently in the field of zeolite catalysts in the future.
