Hatte doch Origenes bei du Abfassung seines Riesenwerkes das Endziel im Auge, die Diskrepanz der Septuaginta vom masoretischen Texte zu beseitigen durch Korrektur nach dem hebraischen Original in der zu seiner Zeit bei den Juden kanonisch gewordenen Gestalt und nach den daraus geflossenen Versionen (bleck Wellhausen a. A. O. Pag. Hierzu kommt noch, dafs ja bekanntlich bereits kurze Zeit nach ihrem Ent stehen der Einflufs der Hexapla besonders durch die zahl reichen unter dem Vorsitz des Eusebius und Pamphilus zu Casarea verfertigten Abschriften der filnf'ten Kolumne, die ja G. In der von Origenes zurechtgestutzten Gestalt enthielt, ein ganz hervorragender war. Klagt doch bereits Hieronymus, es existiere zu seiner Zeit keine Handschrift, die nicht hexaplarisch inficiert sei. Wer kennt nicht seine Worte: z Vis amator esse verus Septuaginta interpretum? Non legas ea quae sub asteriscis sunt, imo rade de voluminibus ut veterum te fautorem probes.
