Book Youth and the Labour Market in Romania

Download or read book Youth and the Labour Market in Romania written by Vasilica Ciucă and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-12 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to improve the quality and efficiency of youth employment, this book examines the cases of the Romanian labour market and of youth employment performance. Recent developments in the labour market participation of young people indicate an accentuation of labour market segmentation and a decrease in job security for young people, with the risk of exclusion and marginalization, fuelled by longer transition processes towards decent employment. This transition may seem clear when one looks at two aspects: education and employment. The challenge the transition towards employment presents is faced by all, regardless of one’s level of education, as employment security is uncertain. The situation young people find themselves in when they finish school and have no job opportunities is a rather delicate one as society offers no “safety nets”. This book, as well as others in the ADAPT Labour Studies Book-Series, explains the challenges young people deal with while playing a vital role within the community they live in. As Kafka has been quoted as saying, “Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old”. Therefore, young people, and those young at heart, perform an integral role in society, and they must be well integrated to enable their successful engagement within their communities.

This book was released on 2018 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The paper aims to bring together two main current research interests: youth employability on the one hand, and use of econometric techniques in order to evaluate the impact of different policy measures, on the other hand. The topic of youth employability is very actual for Romanian labour market, as early school-leaving and the rate of youth not in employment, education or training are among the highest in EU and show no sign of going to decrease significantly on medium and long term. Work-based leaning, as apprenticeship or internship programs are lately promoted as efficient measures to address both the need for a better school-to-work transition, as well as a better education-job match. The paper provides some insights regarding the youth experience of apprenticeship in Romania and empirical evidence to support the hypothesis that work-based programs could increase youth employability. The empirical findings where obtained through a counterfactual approach, by applying the prope

Book Precarity and Vocational Education and Training

Download or read book Precarity and Vocational Education and Training written by Maria-Carmen Pantea and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-19 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how the changing nature of work intersects with and influences young people’s views on their future. As an increasingly precarious service sector overtakes traditional industrial work, vocational education and training (VET) is held up as a panacea for poverty alleviation, youth unemployment and economic growth. However, the views of young people in VET themselves concerning their own work and aspirations have largely been ignored. Based on interviews and focus groups conducted with over 250 young people in VET in Romania, this book examines the types of subjectivities that are generated in the processes by which they try to make sense of future and the meanings of work. In doing so, the author identifies three ideological layers that frame their views: arguing that while the young people interviewed hold ‘conventional’ aspirations for stability and predictability; they were visibly influenced by neoliberal beliefs in agency, experimentation and short termism. Ultimately, a layer of low expectations crystallises unvoiced concerns over a troubling future. In highlighting young people’s voices, this pioneering book calls for a recalibration of the emphasis on VET in Romania. It will appeal to students and scholars of youth studies, the sociology of work, vocational education and training and European studies.

Book Educational Jobs Youth and Employability in the Social Economy

Download or read book Educational Jobs Youth and Employability in the Social Economy written by Vanna Boffo and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-27 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Europe the social economy employs almost 15 million workers. During the crisis years, unlike other sectors, it has often generated an increase in jobs. The aim of this comparative study is to investigate how to allow the supply and demand for young people to meet in the different types of social economy bodies. In particular, it concentrates on the problem of how to bring into line initial university training and the skills required by these organizations. The focus is placed on the varied family of training workers present in at least 75% of the organizations, whose professionalism is nevertheless rarely acknowledged. The papers proposed in this book try to identify the most suitable solutions at the level of curriculum, career development and accompanying measures, while drawing solutions from objective findings and not from training system needs or convictions.

Book Important Theories and Statistical Studies on Romanian Reality Concerning the Unemployment and Labor Literature Review

Download or read book Important Theories and Statistical Studies on Romanian Reality Concerning the Unemployment and Labor Literature Review written by Ana Maria Balan and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If two years ago young people said that it is difficult to enter on the labor market, now the situation is worsened because of the difficult economic climate. The discussions on the lack of employment positions are becoming increasingly heard. The layoffs, the decrease in the number of vacancies, all of these have more serious repercussions on young people than on the adults. Thus, during the financial crisis, young people are the human resources who “suffer” most in contact with the labor market and hardly find a job in Romania. According to the National Agency for Employment, the number of registered unemployed persons less than 25 years in the first quarter of 2010 doubled compared to 2008, reaching 105,007. The aim of the present article is to illustrate some studies of some economists, known or less known, about the various developments on the Romanian labor market, possibly the evolution of unemployment on certain criteria. The article also will provide insights into the statistical modeling of certain economic laws for the employment and unemployment in Romania, thus creating a picture of the situation on the Romanian's labor market reality.

Book European Youth Labour Markets

Download or read book European Youth Labour Markets written by Miguel Ángel Malo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely analysis examines the complex state of youth unemployment across Europe and offers cogent policy suggestions for addressing this longstanding societal problem. The findings reveal numerous national and regional factors affecting youth joblessness—not only market and economic challenges, but also deep sociocultural and political dynamics underlying the situations. Coverage details how the standard transition from school to work is disrupted in an already depressed adult job market, and compares a wide range of responses in terms of both young people’s educational decision-making and national youth policy. In particular, contributors assess whether the current crop of Youth Guarantee programs can/should be a model for employment policy across the continent. Among the topics covered: Youth labour market prospects and recent policy developments. Youth labour market in Central and Eastern Europe. Early school dropout in Spain: evolution during the Great Recession. Overeducation among European university graduates: a constraint or a choice? Promoting youth employment in Europe: evidence-based policy lessons. The evaluation of a Finnish youth guarantee: lessons for Europe? European Youth Labour Markets is of interest to an international audience of economists, sociologists, and leaders in governmental, non-profit, and corporate sectors through its broad and comparative macroeconomic focus and implications for policymaking, research, resource allocation, and policy evaluation.

Book Young People and the Labour Market

Download or read book Young People and the Labour Market written by Floro Ernesto Caroleo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-20 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Young people are a vulnerable category of workers, finding themselves in a delicate phase of their working life: their first entry into the labour market. In many European countries, youngsters are unemployed or have difficulty finding and obtaining jobs. This situation has deteriorated particularly after the crises, recessions and stagnation that has impacted European economies in recent years. In addition to the cyclical or crisis impact, structural factors are also very important. Additionally, prolonged crises, as in some Eurozone countries, have transformed a significant part of cyclical unemployment in structural (long term) unemployment. Young People and the Labour Market: A Comparative Perspective explores the condition of young people in the labour market. The authors present new evidence from several countries, with a special focus on Europe, and offer a comparative perspective. They investigate questions such as which structural conditions and labour market institutions guarantee better youth performance, which education systems and school-to-work processes are more effective and in which countries is gender differentiation less of an issue. All of the aforementioned, as well as many other comparisons which the authors make, are significant in helping to facilitate the successful design of labour and education policies. As the first investigation by economists to explore the complexity of this topic, this book will be useful to both economists and sociologists who are interested in the role of young people in the labour market, and the problem of youth unemployment.

Book Racialized Labour in Romania

Download or read book Racialized Labour in Romania written by Enikő Vincze and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-30 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book critically examines the making and persistence of impoverished areas at the margins of Romanian cities since the late 1980s. Through their historical outlook on political economy and social policy, combined with media and discourse analysis, the eight essays of Racialized Labour in Romania forge new and cutting-edge perspectives on how social class formation, spatial marginalization and racialization intersect. The empirical focus on cities and the labour and the plight of the Roma in Central and Eastern Europe provides a vantage point for establishing connections between urban and global peripheries, and for reimagining the global order from its margins. The book will appeal to scholars, students, journalists and policy makers interested in Labour; Race and Ethnicity; Cities; Poverty; Social Policy; Political Economy and European Studies.
