Book In Times Like These DAILY DEVOTIONALS

Download or read book In Times Like These DAILY DEVOTIONALS written by Bishop Alton A. Smith and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2023-08-21 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The devotionals for this book were written by the author during the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 – 2023. During a time when churches and businesses were closed, the author began to search for ideas and methods to stay in touch with the members of the church that he pastored. Many were confused, worried and contemplating where to turn and what to do. He came up with the idea of devotionals, which were delivered to his parishioners by phone contact two days of each week from 2020 and even continue presently. Members of the congregation welcomed this form of communication when they could not gather in fellowship. Even now, some do not feel safe to gather in crowds and rely on these devotionals as a means of being spiritually fed. These devotionals reflect ways of coping with the times in which we live. We pray that they will bless and encourage each reader to know that God cares and He is an ever-present help in our lives.

Download or read book In His Presence written by Veronica Lilly and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-07-07 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing a 365-day Christian devotional book became a labor of love. I found myself looking forward to what God had to say through me about the chosen scripture for each day. I applied the scripture references after all the devotions were written. My mindset was “Prove it.” I believe the Bible is God’s infallible Word. If God said it, it is true. I spent time talking with God about what to title this book. I started a list of potential titles. I would write one and ask, “Lord, is this the title?” This went on for a few months. The list grew longer. I wanted a title that prepared the reader for a special encounter with God. In His Presence was that title. I knew it the moment it entered my mind. God was faithful. He provided the title for this book. You will find a prayer at the end of each daily devotion thanking, seeking, and reaching out to our Sovereign God.

The best safeguard against that is maintaining a loving, intimate daily fellowship with Jesus as you seek his guidance in understanding the scripture. If you find your love for Jesus waning, do a thorough job of repentance as you renew and cultivate this relationship. Each first-love devotion treats a passage of scripture and gives insight based on prayerful reflection as it relates to personal experience. In addition to personal spiritual benefits, the Christian worker will find a wealth of topics, sermon prompts, and illustrative materials that may be shared with others.

  • Publisher : Christian Publishing House
  • Release : 2015-11-24
  • ISBN : 0692588019
  • Pages : 254 pages

Download or read book DAILY DEVOTIONAL written by Thomas Marshall and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2015-11-24 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humans must breathe in the air of our atmosphere to survive. Many cities because of pollution face a dangerous level of contamination in their air. However, an even more deadly air affects both Christians and nonChristians. Ordinary methods or devices cannot detect this poisonous air. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, spoke of the "air," when he said that Satan was "the ruler of the authority of the air." (Eph. 2:2) In that, very same verse Paul said the "air" is "the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience." If we breathe in this “air,” we will begin to adopt their attitude, thoughts, speech and conduct. 'We know that we are from God, but the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.' (1 John 5:19) Satan controls "the spirit," i.e., worldview, of every human alienated from God, by infecting their beliefs about life. This is why Paul in the same letter exhorted us to be 'renewed in the spirit of our mind.' (Eph. 4:23) Therefore, Christians are to avoid taking in Satanic "air," being influenced by its values, beliefs, thinking, speech and conduct, we must be renewing our mind day by day, discerning what is the will of God. (Rom. 12:2) Paul counseled, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth." (Col. 3:2) It is, for this reason, Marshall has penned the DAILY DEVOTIONAL: Daily Musings From the Old Testament, which can help us be protected against Satan's efforts at controlling our mind and heart. For each day of the year, DAILY DEVOTIONAL provides a Daily Bible Reading and comments for consideration.
