Book excerpt: A beautiful wife with an unspeakable secret yearns for love in this Americana romance set in the Ozark Mountains by the New York Times–bestselling author. Spring is bursting forth and dogwood blossoms litter Missouri’s Ozark Mountains, but Tanya Lassiter feels a winter chill in her heart. Her son, John, was only three when Jake Lassiter last visited from South Africa. Now seven, John has no memory of the visit and has begun to question if his father really exists. Reluctantly, Tanya promises to write Jake and ask him to return. For Tanya, life at the Lassiter home—where she and John live in modernist splendor with Jake’s wealthy parents—is often strained. Julia Lassiter tolerates Tanya for John’s sake, but can’t forgive her for driving Jake away. So when Jake appears unannounced at his parents’ anniversary party, Tanya is gripped by conflicting emotions. Harder with a world-weary edge, Jake is even more handsome than she remembered. But does he know Tanya has fallen in love with another man? Or has he returned to claim everything he believes is rightfully his?

  • ISBN : 1728334993
  • Pages : 55 pages

Download or read book Raped in the Church written by Mohadeebah and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not intended for everyone to read or for everyone to like; it is for the millions of people who have been unjustly raped in the church, without any type of human justice or foreseeable biblical justice. This book is for those who have been hurt or abused in the natural, psychological, mental, physical, and the spiritual realm. If you are a new convert, do not read this book, because some things may shock you or even shake your faith in your local lay members or clergy, who do not deserve any unjust criticism. Some stories may seem unreal but they are based on real life events of everyday people who you see or are seen in the sanctuary worshiping God never knowing what they are going through or why they leave the church today, some even convert to other religions. As a result of hurt and frustration many never return to the organized church and prefer a relationship with God through television evangelist. I am not targeting Christianity but most of the stories and events are from people who are or once was a Christian, I must say in all fairness I must say that I‘m a Christian and this book is written from a Christian point of view. It’s written to heal as well as inform that not everyone in the church is of the church, meaning the kingdom of God. To the clergy and lay members please remember this the Lord said (woe unto the Shepherd that scatter MY Sheep), he said that we are the sheep of his pasture. Many people in leadership today seem to forget that very important fact, that we are not theirs to command and bid as they see fit. If you choose to read this book, you will always have an awareness of what is going on with those who have been spiritually raped. Some people may not believe you when you tell them what you have read and what you learned which is fine. Remember they did not believe Jesus either. Finally as one pastor once said to me many years ago (that education stuff isn’t going to get you anywhere), he/she didn’t know that the bible has been translated by some of the best scholars of our time, and our theology has had may contributors throughout history. From the Quakers, Shakers, Lutheran, Catholic, Jews, and even Mormons. The lord said that knowledge would steadily increase, and if a man lacks knowledge or wisdom let him ask God who gives limberly and upbraids not.

Book Rethinking Professional Issues in Special Education

Download or read book Rethinking Professional Issues in Special Education written by James L. Paul and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2002-07-30 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special educators are facing new challenges at the beginning of the 21st century as public education is being reformed by a vision focusing on measurable student outcomes. The future course of the field will be shaped by the policy and programmatic responses to several issues, including demographic changes in student populations, a lack of certified special education teachers, criticism in the public media for the rising costs of services, and debates about the preferred philosophy of service delivery for students with disabilities. Additional chapters discuss university-school collaboration, charter schools, disability studies, school violence, disproportionality in placement, male African-American teachers, and ethics. This book has been written out of a context of research and program development activities with public schools over the past decade in one of the largest Colleges of Education in a diverse metropolitan area in the country. The issues selected for analysis and the perspective guiding those analyses grew out of this work and out of a national Delphi study of the views of parents and constituent organizations and leading researchers, teacher educators, and policy makers in Special Education.

Download or read book Rainbow in My Heart written by Basit Olatunji and published by Partridge Africa. This book was released on 2015-02-12 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The moon comes out like a dot and emboldens one to move into a universal light with periodic renewal. Basit Olatunji's evolution with this piece has a similar metamorphosis with the moon. Perhaps, the fact that both deal with the principles of space is one reason for both to follow the same process. The colours of rainbow are said to be seven, but are they? Do we have to differentiate between blue and purple, orange and yellow? Yes, a combination of two gives birth to one and more and more. Thus, in a rainbow, colours are buried in other colours, giving birth to more colours. So the genre employed by Olatunji is the very best medium for the depth of messages carried in his rainbow heart. The tip of the tongue alone does not convey taste. It takes the depth of the palate to really savour something. This rainbow in the poet's heart has many colours: life, love, hope, and despair. Indeed, the colours are not limited to red colour of love as expressed in A Woman in Her Prime or My Ladylove Was Not So Tough or My Eternal Valentina; it also delves into deep relationship topics both positive and negative. The poems in this work, Rainbow in My Heart, are words that have set the Lonely Mind of the poet free from the untamable storms within the walls of prison of thoughts. It is a pet with colours of rainbow as patches spotting its tiger like veracious messages all over. Rainbow in My Heart will relieve readers as it does the poet of some burden of thoughts. Book excerpt: Known for her novels Traveling With An Eggplant, The Final Alice, and Alices Army, Alycia Ripley brings her sensitivity and eye for detail to this unique memoir. Written in the form of letters, one each week over the course of a year, it captures her grief following the sudden death of her mothers thirty year companion, the man who raised Ripley since childhood. Theletters shed light on the special relationship between author and stepfather and translate the pain and loss that brought on fugue states and panic attacks following his death. They examine the powerful impact of childhood upon our identities and the valuable lessons loved ones teach us. Framed within four nautically titled chapters, each representing a stage of the year, the books title signifies the rocky sailing conditions which well reflect the authors life and circumstances. Gripping and raw, yet peppered with humor, Wind Over Tide illustrates theunusual way a creative mind interacts with grief. It serves as a fascinating look into a poignant, personal conversation, one which can help readers examine their own coping strategies to find peace after loss. Wind Over Tide is a heart wrenching book that takes the reader through the emotional waves of mourning a loved one. The authors penned letters are a tribute to Joe, her stepfather, keeping his spirit, significance and lessons alive.Ripleys words are both validating and healing. We learn, as she did, how to continue living even when faced with darkness and layers of loss. A must read that is hard to put down. -Michelle Pawkett, MA, LMHC

Book Blowing up the Rock German Italian and Spanish Sabotage attacks on Gibraltar during the Second World War

Download or read book Blowing up the Rock German Italian and Spanish Sabotage attacks on Gibraltar during the Second World War written by Bernard O'Connor and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2020-01-05 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Second World War, Gibraltar faced the threat of invasion by Italy, Germany, and Spain. The Abwehr, the German Intelligence Service, rather than use their own saboteurs, paid young Spanish men to undertake over sixty sabotage attacks on military installations and shipping with limited success. The Italian Decima Flotilla MAS, a specialist team of underwater frogmen, launched eight attacks which were relatively successful and Spanish Falangists made several unsuccessful attempts. The British Secret Intelligence Service endeavoured to stop or at least limit such attacks. Using contemporary files from the National Archives in Kew, autobiographies, biographies, histories and newspaper articles, this documentary history investigates the successes and failures of these attacks on Gibraltar and the roles played by intelligence officers, agents, double agents in discovering and preventing such acts. The book sheds light on an unusual and largely overlooked aspect of Gibraltar's history.
