Gavin, my hot, sex-on-the-kitchen-counter, loves-me-on-my-bad-days husband. He’s been with me since the beginning. And I have Jenny and Tina, girlfriends I met along the way. They’re the good ones. It helps me, knowing you’re out there, waiting, hoping. Some of you have lost babies yourselves. You know what I’m about to endure. So it’s time for the happiest happy ending of all. Book excerpt: Beyond the Rainbow by Prabhakar is a work of fiction. Each story is a poetic experience, aesthetic as well as elevating. The story connotes as a whole without any annotation. The moral and aesthetic coalesce. The stories are a portrayal of simple characters that come and go as silently as the day or the night. The stories approximate to an Indian macrocosm of vision and variety without any prejudice to their universal extent and intent. A pervasive sense of irony is ever there to chasten any romantic pigmentation. The book serves a sumptuous cocktail of romance and symbolism, humour and irony, realism and religion with a sympathetic human concern. It betrays a simple soul’s predicament and pride. Going through the book the reader would hear the echoes of the past, the present, and the future of humanity. A journey from ‘The Champion’ to ‘The Mahakumbha’ is a pilgrimage through India.

Book Raising My Rainbow

Download or read book Raising My Rainbow written by Lori Duron and published by Crown. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Raising My Rainbow is Lori Duron’s frank, heartfelt, and brutally funny account of her and her family's adventures of distress and happiness raising a gender-creative son. Whereas her older son, Chase, is a Lego-loving, sports-playing boy's boy, Lori's younger son, C.J., would much rather twirl around in a pink sparkly tutu, with a Disney Princess in each hand while singing Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi." C.J. is gender variant or gender nonconforming, whichever you prefer. Whatever the term, Lori has a boy who likes girl stuff—really likes girl stuff. He floats on the gender-variation spectrum from super-macho-masculine on the left all the way to super-girly-feminine on the right. He's not all pink and not all blue. He's a muddled mess or a rainbow creation. Lori and her family choose to see the rainbow. Written in Lori's uniquely witty and warm voice and launched by her incredibly popular blog of the same name, Raising My Rainbow is the unforgettable story of her wonderful family as they navigate the often challenging but never dull privilege of raising a slightly effeminate, possibly gay, totally fabulous son. Book Sensitive to Listen and Willing to Obey

Download or read book Sensitive to Listen and Willing to Obey written by Doris M. Arwine and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-05 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God uses people daily to communicate His fragrance and message to us. Too often we don't check to see what aroma or impression we are leaving for others to see, hear, or smell. After visiting someone's home or before checking out of a motel, or when moving, we double check to make sure we haven't left anything behind. Even criminals check to make sure they haven't left any clues at the crime scene to identify them. A story reminded me of this. A robber thought he had committed the perfect crime. He assumed he left no clues behind. But he didn't count on someone remembering how he smelled. The smell he left behind was what helped convict him. Yes, we leave something everywhere we go. Stuart Holden reminded a young man moving from a boarding house of this fact when the young man said, he was just double checking to make sure he wasn't leaving anything behind. "There's one thing you will leave behind, young man, your influence."

Book excerpt: When is the pen mightier than the sword? The pen became my weapon of choice to battle against life. I have gone from one traumatic event to the next and I will admit I have reached the tower on more than one occasion. I am still here and throughout this book I would like to share my experiences, my thoughts and my actions also how contradictory it is that I have become the person that I am to this very day. Poetry is not a dying art, it just needs to be revived back into general society. People either as confident as they seem or they think they are, will at some point in their lives need reassurance, understanding, empathy, sympathy and most importantly, the love of another human being. We all need to know that no matter how bad things seem, keep hold because not all hope is not lost in life, but instead a mere hurdle in the way that will eventually be removed upon finding resolve. The introduction is actual factors of my life and the poetry I have wrote was my way of surviving

Book The Rainbow Dove of Love Unites the Peace Tree of Life

This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many years ago, I had a vision full of dreams of putting a positive drop in the ocean of life to help create a better world for all of us in generations to come. I saw with a broken mirror, with a world full of tears, full of hurts and frustration with deepening pain, which cried endlessly for a red cross band-aid and cure. It was many years later that my vision was written on paper in the form of poetry. My many trials and suffering, along with many running off the road of light, with dead ends did not go in vain. I hope my many poems of love, Jesus, Mary, peace, and the poor will help to inspire each reader to open their eyes and minds wider to Jesus endless love and dreamers with authentic peace, with their hearts open to realize the suffering and the huge rocky mountain that the poor and unwanted, lost and forgotten, climb that mountain courageously day after day. You may be passing by a war hero in disguise many have despairing stories to tell. Jesus dwells in the suffering poor. He loves his forgotten lamb in the same way that he loves us. Please give them dignity and respect for they struggle for the good life with the little that they have with hopeful courage, and a trail of brokenness and pain, with hanging on to the Lord's strength and his many crosses to turn their darkness into God's light. So be a brother or sister to them and lend them a hand when you can, their destiny starts and ends with you.

Book A Kind and Just Parent

  • Author : William Ayers
  • Publisher : Beacon Press
  • Release : 1998-06-01
  • ISBN : 9780807044032
  • Pages : 228 pages

Download or read book A Kind and Just Parent written by William Ayers and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 1998-06-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people know juvenile offenders only from daily headlines, and the images portrayed by the media are extreme and violent: predators and even "superpredators." Distorted and incomplete, these pictures shape the way Americans think and feel about city kids, poor kids, children of color. A Kind and Just Parent gives us a transformative view of kids caught up in the justice system that we could never get from nightly news and newspaper stories. William Ayers has spent five years as teacher and observer in Chicago's Juvenile Court prison, the nation's first and largest institution of juvenile justice, founded by legendary reformer Jane Addams to act as a "kind and just parent" for kids in need. Today, immensely confused and confusing, it serves as a perfect microcosm of the way American justice deals with children. Through brilliant storytelling, Ayers captures the lives and personalities of young people caught up in the juvenile justice system. The book follows a year in the life of the prison school. Its characters are three dimensional: funny, quirky, sometimes violent, and often vulnerable. We see young people talking about their lives, analyzing their own situations, and thinking about their friends and their futures. We watch them throughout a school year and meet some remarkable teachers. From the intimate perspective of a teacher, Ayers gives us portraits, history, and analysis that help us to understand not only what brought these kids into the court system, but why people find it hard to think straight about them, and what we might do to keep their younger brothers and sisters from landing in the same place. Unsentimental yet wrenching, A Kind and Just Parent is a riveting look at kids and crime. It will change the way Americans think about juvenile crime and juvenile justice.
