Book excerpt: The organizational economics paradigm is useful for a research tool in order to construct a concrete theory of entrepreneur as a human agent of change. Under this theoretical framework, chief functions of entrepreneurial activity must be defined. Hébert and Link (1988) decomposes functions of entrepreneur with reference to different definitions in the history of economic theory. They gather together twelve functions under two main categories. First, they divide entrepreneurial functions as static and dynamic. Thereby, they identify each function with a definition and historical classification as an overview of distinct intellectual attempts by economists in the relevant literature. We conduct structural and contextual analysis to entegrate functionalist approach of organizational economics to the theory of entrepreneur. Among the most critical tools in the U.S.'s ideological arsenal was modernization theory, and Turkey emerged as a vital test case for the construction and validation of developmental thought and practice. With this book, Begüm Adalet reveals how Turkey became both the archetypal model of modernization and an active partner for its enactment. Through her analysis of the flow of aid money and expertise between the U.S. and Turkey, the planning of the American-funded Turkish highway network, and the development of the Turkish tourism industry, Adalet also highlights how "problems of knowledge" are fundamentally entwined with "problems of the political order": social scientific theories are produced in material spaces, through uncertain encounters between transnational actors and policy networks. Internationally better known for its aftermath, the Compulsory Population Exchange between Greece and Turkey, the Catastrophe of Ottoman Greeks, and the foundation of the Republic of Turkey under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the war has never been given a holistic treatment in English, despite its long shadow over the Greek-Turkish relationship.
