Download or read book Industrial Aromatic Chemistry written by Heinz-Gerhard Franck and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aromatic organic hydrocarbons and heterocycles represent a bulk of about one third of all industrially produced organic basic materials. Aromatic compounds such as benzene, phenol, naphthalene, anthracene, and their homologues, are derived from raw materials, coal, crude oil and biogenic resources by thermal and catalytic refining processes. This book introduces the chemistry of aromatics with a brief discussion of the aromatic character and a survey of historical aspects, particularly the development of the organic dye industry during the 19th century. The main emphasis of the book is to give a clear prospect of industrial processes for the production and the derivatisation of aromatics with consistent flow diagrams. Economical aspects of by- and side-products are especially regarded. For the most important aromatics an analysis of the international market included their derivatives: polymers, pesticides, dyes, pigments and drugs. Professional scientists, managers and students in chemistry and chemical engineering will find a wealth of information for their career and daily work.
Download or read book Liquid Phase Aerobic Oxidation Catalysis written by Shannon S. Stahl and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-10-10 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book to place recent academic developments within the context of real life industrial applications, this is a timely overview of the field of aerobic oxidation reactions in the liquid phase that also illuminates the key challenges that lie ahead. As such, it covers both homogeneous as well as heterogeneous chemocatalysis and biocatalysis, along with examples taken from various industries: bulk chemicals and monomers, specialty chemicals, flavors and fragrances, vitamins, and pharmaceuticals. One chapter is devoted to reactor concepts and engineering aspects of these methods, while another deals with the relevance of aerobic oxidation catalysis for the conversion of renewable feedstock. With chapters written by a team of academic and industrial researchers, this is a valuable reference for synthetic and catalytic chemists at universities as well as those working in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries seeking a better understanding of these reactions and how to design large scale processes based on this technology.
Download or read book Paraxylene Production from Mixed Xylenes Cost Analysis Paraxylene E12A written by Intratec and published by Intratec. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of para-Xylene production from mixed xylenes with o-xylene co-production. The process examined is a xylene isomerization process with ethylbenzene (EB) isomerization. In this process, p-Xylene is recovered from a mixture of C8 aromatics via an adsorption unit. The remaining xylenes as well as the ethylbenzene are isomerized and the product from isomerization is recycled to the adsorption unit. Part of the o-xylene is also recovered as by-product. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) US Patent 7301064, issued to UOP in 2007 (2) US Patent 3997620, issued to UOP in 1976 Keywords: Mixed Xylenes, C8 Aromatics, UOP, PAREX, Isomar, Axens, Eluxyl, ExxonMobil, Oparis, MHAI
Download or read book Emergency and Continuous Exposure Guidance Levels for Selected Submarine Contaminants written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2008-06-09 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: U.S. Navy personnel who work on submarines are in an enclosed and isolated environment for days or weeks at a time when at sea. To protect workers from potential adverse health effects due to those conditions, the U.S. Navy has established exposure guidance levels for a number of contaminants. In this latest report in a series, the Navy asked the National Research Council (NRC) to review, and develop when necessary, exposure guidance levels for 11 contaminants. The report recommends exposure levels for hydrogen that are lower than current Navy guidelines. For all other contaminants (except for two for which there are insufficient data), recommended levels are similar to or slightly higher than those proposed by the Navy. The report finds that, overall, there is very little exposure data available on the submarine environment and echoes recommendations from earlier NRC reports to expand exposure monitoring in submarines.
