Book Optional Processes

Download or read book Optional Processes written by Mohamed Abdelghani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well-known that modern stochastic calculus has been exhaustively developed under usual conditions. Despite such a well-developed theory, there is evidence to suggest that these very convenient technical conditions cannot necessarily be fulfilled in real-world applications. Optional Processes: Theory and Applications seeks to delve into the existing theory, new developments and applications of optional processes on "unusual" probability spaces. The development of stochastic calculus of optional processes marks the beginning of a new and more general form of stochastic analysis. This book aims to provide an accessible, comprehensive and up-to-date exposition of optional processes and their numerous properties. Furthermore, the book presents not only current theory of optional processes, but it also contains a spectrum of applications to stochastic differential equations, filtering theory and mathematical finance. Features Suitable for graduate students and researchers in mathematical finance, actuarial science, applied mathematics and related areas Compiles almost all essential results on the calculus of optional processes in unusual probability spaces Contains many advanced analytical results for stochastic differential equations and statistics pertaining to the calculus of optional processes Develops new methods in finance based on optional processes such as a new portfolio theory, defaultable claim pricing mechanism, etc. Authors Mohamed Abdelghani completed his PhD in mathematical finance from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He is currently working as a vice president in quantitative finance and machine learning at Morgan Stanley, New York, USA. Alexander Melnikov is a professor in mathematical finance at the University of Alberta. His research interests belong to the area of contemporary stochastic analysis and its numerous applications in mathematical finance, statistics and actuarial science. He has written six books as well as over 100 research papers in leading academic journals.

This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metallurgical Thermodynamics, as well as its modified version, Thermodynamics of Materials, forms a core course in metallurgical and materials engineering, constituting one of the principal foundations in these disciplines. Designed as an undergraduate textbook, this concise and systematically organized text deals primarily with the thermodynamics of systems involving physico-chemical processes and chemical reactions, such as calculations of enthalpy, entropy and free energy changes of processes; thermodynamic properties of solutions; chemical and phase equilibria; and thermodynamics of surfaces, interfaces and defects. The major emphasis is on high-temperature systems and processes involving metals and inorganic compounds. The many worked examples, diagrams, and tables that illustrate the concepts discussed, and chapter-end problems that stimulate self-study should enable the students to study the subject with enhanced interest.

Book Coding and Decoding Seismic Data

Download or read book Coding and Decoding Seismic Data written by Luc T. Ikelle and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-03-29 with total page 619 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, the acquisition of seismic surveys is performed as a sequential operation in which shots are computed separately, one after the other. This approach is similar to that of multiple-access technology, which is widely used in cellular communications to allow several subscribers to share the same telephone line. The cost of performing various shots simultaneously is almost identical to that of one shot; thus, the savings in time and money expected from using the multishooting approach for computing seismic surveys compared to the current approach are enormous. By using this approach, the long-standing problem of simulating a three-dimensional seismic survey can be reduced to a matter of weeks and not years, as is currently the case. - Investigates how to collect, stimulate, and process multishooting data - Addresses the improvements in seismic characterization and resolution one can expect from multishooting data - Aims to educate the oil and gas exploration and production business of the benefits of multishooting data, and to influence their day-to-day surveying techniques

Book Pseudo Differential Operators Markov Processes

Download or read book Pseudo Differential Operators Markov Processes written by Niels Jacob and published by Imperial College Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume concentrates on how to construct a Markov process by starting with a suitable pseudo-differential operator. Feller processes, Hunt processes associated with Lp-sub-Markovian semigroups and processes constructed by using the Martingale problem are at the center of the considerations. The potential theory of these processes is further developed and applications are discussed. Due to the non-locality of the generators, the processes are jump processes and their relations to Levy processes are investigated. Special emphasis is given to the symbol of a process, a notion which generalizes that of the characteristic exponent of a Levy process and provides a natural link to pseudo-differential operator theory.
