The angular distribution was computed for incident electron energies of 20 and 30 moc sq. To supplement these computations, the thin target bremsstrahlung was computed for several incident electron energies and apertures of the beam. A hardness factor was also computed for the thin targets. The equations for the thick target forward spectrum and the thin target spectrum were coded for the Burroughs 204 Digital computer. Ionizing radiation arises from both natural and man-made sources and at very high doses can produce damaging effects in human tissue that can be evident within days after exposure. However, it is the low-dose exposures that are the focus of this book. So-called “late” effects, such as cancer, are produced many years after the initial exposure.
