Book X ray Diodes for Laser Fusion Plasma Diagnostics

Download or read book X ray Diodes for Laser Fusion Plasma Diagnostics written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photodiodes with x-ray sensitive photocathodes are commonly used as broadband x-ray detectors in fusion plasma diagnostics. We have measured the risetime of the detector system and have measured the quantum efficiency between 1 to 500 A of numerous photocathode materials of practical interest. The materials studied include aluminum, copper, nickel, gold, three forms of carbon, chromium, and cesium iodide. The results of the measurements are compared with Henke's semiempirical model of photoyield. We have studied the effects of long-term cathode aging and use as a plasma diagnostic on cathode quantum efficiency. In addition, we have measured the x-ray mass-absorption coefficient of several ultrasoft x-ray windows in energy regions where data were unavailable. Windows studied were made of aluminum, Formvar, polypropylene, and Kimfoil. Measurements between 1 to 50 Ȧ were performed with the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory's low-energy x-ray calibration facility, and the measurements between 50 to 550 A were performed at the National Bureau of Standard's synchrotron ultraviolet radiation facility.

Book Low Energy X Ray and Electron Physics and Technology for High Temperature Plasma Diagnostics

Download or read book Low Energy X Ray and Electron Physics and Technology for High Temperature Plasma Diagnostics written by Burton L. Henke and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This program in low-energy x-ray physics and technology has expanded into a major program with the principal objective of supporting research and application programs at the new large x-ray source facilities, particularly the high temperature plasma and synchrotron radiation sources. This program addresses the development of absolute x-ray diagnostics for the fusion energy and x-ray laser research and development. The new laboratory includes five specially designed spectrographic stations for the measurement of x-rays and the associated photoemissions in the 100-10,000 eV region. Keywords: X-ray diagnostics; X-ray lasers, Fusion energy. (jhd).

Book X Rays From Laser Plasmas

Download or read book X Rays From Laser Plasmas written by I. C. E. Turcu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1999 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft X-rays have great potential for use in a wide variety of applications, including the semiconductor industry and the life sciences. X-Rays from Laser Plasmas: Generation and Applications focuses exclusively and in detail on the science and technology of soft X-rays produced with non-synchrotron sources. Using a minimum of mathematical formulae, it discusses how such X-rays can be efficiently and economically generated from plasmas produced by lasers, and how they interact with matter. Authored by Dr Edmond Turcu, one of the pioneers in this field, X-Rays from Laser Plasmas: Generation and Applications will be of great interest to a wide variety of readers, including all those working in X-ray lithography, microscopy, and radiobiology.
