Book Words of Inspiration from Your Own Kind

Download or read book Words of Inspiration from Your Own Kind written by Rachel Greer and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of poetry is something everyone can relate to young or old. No matter the ethnic background. This book is something that everyone can read and take something from. Think about it, life would be so perfect if we human beings didn't run off emotions, but because we do, life is imperfect. I'm pretty sure if you pay your bills late or spend too much money at the mall, it's no big deal. But, as soon as someone betrays your trust or even break your heart. Hell break loose. It's the truth, we human beings are the most emotional creatures that walk amongs this Earth. This book can be read from the ghetto to the suburbs to even the white house. It's inspirational because it's relevant and it's inspiring to know someone has been through what you have, and you're not alone. It's so inspiring to know that same person made it through it all so it gives you no excuse to not move forward in this life.

Book Surf Tribe

Download or read book Surf Tribe written by Stephan Vanfleteren and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: - An incomparable new photo book about the international surf culture by Stephan Vanfleteren- Showcases captivating portraits of some of the world's surf iconsWith Surf Tribe, photographer Stephan Vanfleteren shows that there is far more to surf culture than just sport and competition. Surfing is also about a deep admiration and respect for the ocean, as well as the feeling of insignificance when confronted with the forces of nature. Surfers use the waves for fun, but also to forget and to battle, both with others and with themselves. Vanfleteren looks beyond the traditional borders of the United States and Australia and searches the globe for people who live in places where sea and land meet. He documents a fluid community, with nature as its sole leader. He has sought out young talent, living icons, and old legends, both competitive and free surfers. The photographs here are serene black and white portraits in Vanfleteren's well-known, haunting style; as always, he reaches below the surface and goes to the core of his subjects. Included, amongst many others, are Kelly Slater, Gerry Lopez, John Florence, Mickey Munoz, Filipe Toledo and Stephanie Gilmore. Surfer, journalist, and actor Gerry Lopez has contributed the Foreword. Surf Tribe has been exhibited in Knokke-Heist (Belgium), Kunsthal Rotterdam (Netherlands), Gallery Kahmann Amsterdam (Netherlands). The next exhibition will be in June 2019 in France. This book was released on 2022-04-06 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is this just another devotional? Well, it can be... Or it can be so much more. In volume 1 of Fifty Words of Encouragement Just for You, Pastor Ken says, "These words are to be considered by the reader as 'so much more.'" From the inception of this first volume, each of the words presented are with the conviction that some aspect of each word was tailor-made for you, the reader. Hence, the phrase "just for you" is so much more than a generalization. Please allow yourself to embrace the notion that our loving, heavenly Father is pointedly speaking to encourage you or someone close to you. Psalm 107:20 says, "He sent his word to heal us and rescue us from our destruction." So, beloved, be encouraged in your heart and carefully ponder the various layers of thought and the potential impact of each word in your life. As always, in His love, Pastor Ken Reed

Book In the Words of Theodore Roosevelt

Download or read book In the Words of Theodore Roosevelt written by Theodore Roosevelt and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2012-10-15 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We cannot do great deeds unless we are willing to do the small things that make up the sum of greatness."—on Action "The American people are good-natured to the point of lax indifference; but once roused, they act with the most straightforward and practical resolution."—on America "Speak softly and carry a big stick—you will go far. If a man continually blusters, if he lacks civility, a big stick will not save him from trouble; and neither will speaking softly avail, if back of the softness there does not lie strength, power."—on the Big Stick "We are, as a whole, still in that low state of civilization where we do not understand that it is also vandalism wantonly to destroy or to permit the destruction of what is beautiful in nature, whether it be a cliff, a forest, or a species of mammal or bird. Here in the United States we turn our rivers and streams into sewers and dumping-grounds, we pollute the air, we destroy forests, and exterminate fishes, birds and mammals—not to speak of vulgarizing charming landscapes with hideous advertisements. But at last it looks as if our people were awakening."—on Natural Resources The public life of Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) was marked by his service as the twenty-sixth President of the United States, Vice President, Governor of New York State, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, U.S. Civil Service Commissioner, President of the New York City Police Commission, and New York State Assemblyman. In his life outside of government he was famous as an author, naturalist, rancher, big game hunter, and explorer. The twentieth century would become known as the American Century, and it was Theodore Roosevelt, through his foreign policy, who ushered the United States into the ranks of the world’s great powers. In domestic affairs, he used his presidential powers to level the playing field between capital and labor, to protect consumers, and to establish a conservation program that was far-sighted and comprehensive, covering the nation’s natural resources, its wilderness areas, its endangered species, its scenic beauty, and the cultural artifacts of its indigenous peoples. Distilled from Roosevelt’s voluminous writings and speeches, In the Words of Theodore Roosevelt is a discerning collection of quotations by this American icon who continues to inspire and captivate an extraordinary array of twenty-first-century Americans. Carefully selected and organized by topic by Patricia O’Toole, these quotations reflect the vast range of Roosevelt’s interests, the depth of his wisdom, his almost superhuman energy, and his directness. Many of the issues that Roosevelt addressed—from America’s international role to the environment—remain pressing concerns today, giving his century-old words remarkable currency. This singular collection of quotations—enhanced by O’Toole’s illuminating introductory essay, notes on biographical and historical context, and bibliographies of Roosevelt’s writings—is a trove for writers, teachers, students, and all who recognize Theodore Roosevelt’s unique role in U.S. history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a Navy SEAL's inspiring graduation speech, this #1 New York Times bestseller of powerful life lessons "should be read by every leader in America" (Wall Street Journal). If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves-and the world-for the better. Admiral McRaven's original speech went viral with over 10 million views. Building on the core tenets laid out in his speech, McRaven now recounts tales from his own life and from those of people he encountered during his military service who dealt with hardship and made tough decisions with determination, compassion, honor, and courage. Told with great humility and optimism, this timeless book provides simple wisdom, practical advice, and words of encouragement that will inspire readers to achieve more, even in life's darkest moments. "Powerful." --USA Today "Full of captivating personal anecdotes from inside the national security vault." --Washington Post "Superb, smart, and succinct." --Forbes
