I have tried to paint a picture of how I see nature all around me, and how nature is an extension of God's work. His building of the earth and the inhabitants therein. I have gained inspiration From this, and through the years have gained insight into man, and the map created for us to live by""if only we can. We are a link in a never ending chain that connects us to a past inheritance, and a help in determining the future. What is our part, and will we follow the path laid out for us? Will we be an example that can be an inspiration to others? Will we leave earth a better place? And can we attain heavenly heights with the Lord, in that special place He has prepared? My hope and prayer is to enlighten others to the wondrous gifts we have been given, and that you will take time to appreciate them all, and thank our Great Creator.

Book Words and Images

Download or read book Words and Images written by Alfreda Murck and published by Metropolitan Museum of Art. This book was released on 1991 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In May of 1985, an international symposium was held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in honor of John M. Crawford, Jr., whose gifts of Chinese calligraphy and painting have constituted a significant addition to the Museum's holdings. Over a three-day period, senior scholars from China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe, and the United States expressed a wide range of perspectives on an issue central to the history of Chinese visual aesthetics: the relationships between poetry, calligraphy, and painting. The practice of integrating the three art forms-known as san-chiieh, or the three perfections-in one work of art emerged during the Sung and Yuan dynasties largely in the context of literati culture, and it has stimulated lively critical discussion ever since. This publication contains twenty-three essays based on the papers presented at the Crawford symposium. Grouped by subject matter in a roughly chronological order, these essays reflect research on topics spanning two millennia of Chinese history. The result is an interdisciplinary exploration of the complex set of relationships between words and images by art historians, literary historians, and scholars of calligraphy. Their findings provide us with a new level of understanding of this rich and complicated subject and suggest further directions for the study of Chinese art history. The essays are accompanied by 255 illustrations, some of which reproduce works rarely published. Chinese characters have been provided throughout the text for artists names, terms, titles of works of art and literature, and important historical figures, as well as for excerpts of selected poetry and prose. A chronology, also containing Chinese characters, and an extensive index contribute to making this book illuminating and invaluable to both the specialist and the layman.

Book excerpt: These are stories based on my life, but ones you can relate to. This is a book you’ll get — it’s emotion painted with words. These are notes written over the course of a year and divided by the seasons. These are a string of entries that sound like poetry but taste like coffee — bitter and also sweet. This is a collection of offhand thoughts written for one pair of eyes, but shared with many. This is a dance floor of words and a book to flip through pages like car radio stations. This is something to read when your heart and mind are tangled and you need a conversation between your eyes and someone else’s words. These are paint splatters of life — some are messy, but they all turn out.

Book Victorian Word painting and Narrative

Download or read book Victorian Word painting and Narrative written by Rhoda Leven Flaxman and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study establishes the distinctive features of Victorian word-painting in the works of Charles Dickens and Alfred, Lord Tennyson and suggests ways in which word-painting contributes to the attrition of narrative and the blending of the genres of prose and poetry in some "hybrid" works of Modernist and post-Modernist literature. Word-painting is a term used here to refer to extended passages of visually-oriented description that are composed with attention to framing devices, recurrent iconographic motifs, light, color, composition of volumes in space and a carefully-established, consistent perspective.
