Book Wonders of Missions Classic Reprint

Download or read book Wonders of Missions Classic Reprint written by Caroline Atwater Mason and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-11 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wonders of Missions The purpose of this book is not to narrate the story of Foreign Missions, but to illustrate it. No attempt has been made to present a comprehensive thesaurus of' striking episodes in the course of missionary history. I suppose, were this to be done, not even the world itself could contain the books that should be written. The incidents and characters described, gleaned from many sources, may not transcend in interest or importance multitudes not here included. These have been chosen as typical and significant. They are set forth in the belief that, however familiar, they will serve afresh as a tonic to our faith and to our devotion. Book The Miracles of Missions Or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Miracles of Missions Or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise Classic Reprint written by Arthur T. Pierson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-11-20 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Miracles of Missions, or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise These observations of Dr. Christlieb have suggested the somewhat emphatic title of this book. We have chosen to call it The Miracles of Missions, notwithstanding the objections frequently urged to the use of the word miracles for it must be remembered that a miracle, as the word indicates, is noth ing more nor less than a wonder to which God appeals as a sign of divine presence and power; and all that we mean by this term as now used is that, in the history of modern missions, there are amazing wonders of di vine interposition and human transformation which admit of no adequate explanation if we deny the divine element. The author would simply add, before pre senting a few of these instances somewhat in detail, that the impression with which he began these studies, now more than thirty years ago, has daily and hourly increased as these studies have been further prosecuted. With these prefatory remarks we submit to the candid judgment of the reader the testi mony of missionary biography and history. Book Saving Wonders

Download or read book Saving Wonders written by Walter Sackett and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-21 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Saving Wonders: Being Incidents in the Manchester Mission It seemed a pity that the miracles of grace effected in individual hearts and lives should be unknown by the wider circles of Christian people and, one by one, as I was able, I jotted down incidents of interest, with the result now before the reader. I can vouch for the exactness of the narratives related but, for obvious reasons, the names have been changed. The Rev. H. J. Pope has kindly introduced the matter more fully. To my father, and to the Rev. S. F. Collier, I am indebted for information and assistance. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. And it would give an utterly false impression to the reader if the fact were not clearly stated that in almost every mission field the Anglican Missions are largely outnumbered by others, both in missionaries and in converts. N ever theless, the design of this book is to tell the story of the Anglican Missions and of them only. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Traffic in Girls

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Traffic in Girls: And Work of Rescue Missions As the title of the book is The Traffic in Girls and Work of Rescue Missions, we have used facts which have come under our own observation, the sub stance of our lectures in the churches in the form of addresses to an audience, as that has been the request of thousands of our hearers. God grant that these facts rouse America as William T. Stead roused England. When the Pall Mall Gazette containing his Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon appeared, no wonder the world fairly reeled under the awful disclosures. Libertines, saloon-keepers and brothel slave traders gnashed their teeth in rage that their infamies were exposed, and the cheeks of mothers blanched with terror as they learned of the snares set for the unwary feet of maidenhood.
