Download or read book Unveiled written by Esther Ahmad and published by Harvest House Publishers. This book was released on 2020-05-05 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To my earthly father, my only worth was through my death. But God saw me so differently that, at first, I could barely comprehend it. Esther Ahmad thought she knew the way to earn her Muslim father’s love. She raised her hand for the suicide mission, her martyrdom guaranteeing her family a place in heaven. But God had a different mission for Esther—a journey out of Pakistan, from despair to hope, from shame to purity, and from Allah’s wrath to a Father’s love. In Unveiled, Esther examines a world in which women have no rights, no worth, no voice, and she shows how the treatment of Muslim women is linked directly to Islamic teachings. With vivid personal stories, she lays out the lies of the Qur’an against the truth she found in the Bible. This is no academic comparison but a question of life or death: What is a woman worth?

Download or read book Qur an and Woman written by Amina Wadud and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1999-06-10 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fourteen centuries of Islamic thought have produced a legacy of interpretive readings of the Qu'ran written almost entirely by men. Now, with Qu'ran and Woman, Amina Wadud provides a first interpretive reading by a woman, a reading which validates the female voice in the Qu'ran and brings it out of the shadows. Muslim progressives have long argued that it is not the religion but patriarchal interpretation and implementation of the Qu'ran that have kept women oppressed. For many, the way to reform is the reexamination and reinterpretation of religious texts. Qu'ran and Woman contributes a gender inclusive reading to one of the most fundamental disciplines in Islamic thought, Qu'ranic exegesis. Wadud breaks down specific texts and key words which have been used to limit women's public and private role, even to justify violence toward Muslim women, revealing that their original meaning and context defy such interpretations. What her analysis clarifies is the lack of gender bias, precedence, or prejudice in the essential language of the Qur'an. Despite much Qu'ranic evidence about the significance of women, gender reform in Muslim society has been stubbornly resisted. Wadud's reading of the Qu'ran confirms women's equality and constitutes legitimate grounds for contesting the unequal treatment that women have experienced historically and continue to experience legally in Muslim communities. The Qu'ran does not prescribe one timeless and unchanging social structure for men and women, Wadud argues lucidly, affirming that the Qu'ran holds greater possibilities for guiding human society to a more fulfilling and productive mutual collaboration between men and women than as yet attained by Muslims or non-Muslims.

Download or read book The Glorious Qur an written by Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2023-11-09 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Glorious Qur’an: A Book for Human Guidance. It is none but Allah (SWT), Who has emphatically proclaimed without any ifs, that Qur’ān is the “Word of God.” It is too hard for a man of colossal prudence to estimate and reckon the Divine Wisdom of Allah (SWT), Who revealed the Verses of Qur’ān upon an illiterate Prophet (SAW) directly through Archangel Jibra’il (A.S) or through Wahy (Revelation) over a period of twenty three years. Qur’ān is a Scripture with Truth to ponder upon, recite, understand, listen pay heed and seek Allah’s mercy. Allah (SWT) has disclosed Warnings and all kinds of simulations but the disbelievers have denied and rejected them. The Jinns having listened to the Qur’ān and said that it (Qur’ān) is a marvelous Book. But the disbelievers said it is nothing else but magic. Qur’ān leads the Reciters, the listeners and the believers to achieve piety, wipes off the evil from the individuals and collective lives and provides the mankind practical solutions congenial to human nature.
Download or read book The Message A Translation of the Glorious Qur an written by Monotheist Group and published by The Monotheist Group. This book was released on 2008-02 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With so many English translations of the Qur'an available, it is inevitable that the reader would ask "why make another one?" The answer to that question lays in the current structure of the Islamic faith itself, and the fact that, for many centuries, Islam has been primarily sub-categorized as either Sunni or Shia or one of the many other denominations that have emerged over the years. As such, all translators have belonged to one school of thought or another which clearly comes across in the interpretation of and choice of translation for specific words or verses. "The Message" is the result of a group effort by people who do not belong to any denomination, and, for the first time in many centuries, are simply proud to call themselves Muslims as God had named centuries ago. Also, while many translators have been sincere in their rendering of the Arabic meaning of the words, they have been unable to refrain from adding comments in the form of "parenthesis" within the text of the translation or in the form of footnotes and appendices to reflect their views on certain verses or the views of the denomination they adhere to. "The Message" is unique in the fact that it uses neither footnotes nor comments letting the text speak for itself and delivering to the reader as close a rendition of the pure message of the Qur'an as physically possible. Finally, no matter how much can be said about this translation or any other, it is imperative to point out that guidance cannot come from any human being, rather, the only true knowledge and guidance can only come from the One who initiated the heavens and Earth. May He be glorified forever. Welcome to the path of God alone. Welcome to "The Message."
Download or read book Female Personalities in the Qur an and Sunna written by Rawand Osman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-10-03 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the manner in which the Qur’an and sunna depict female personalities in their narrative literature. Providing a comprehensive study of all the female personalities mentioned in the Qur’an, the book is selective in the personalities of the sunna, examining the three prominent women of ahl al-bayt; Khadija, Fatima, and Zaynab. Analysing the major sources of Imami Shi‘i Islam, including the exegetical compilations of the eminent Shi‘i religious authorities of the classical and modern periods, as well as the authoritative books of Shi’i traditions, this book finds that the varieties of female personalities are portrayed as human beings on different stages of the spiritual spectrum. They display feminine qualities, which are often viewed positively and are sometimes commendable traits for men, at least as far as the spiritual domain is concerned. The theory, particularly regarding women’s humanity, is then tested against the depiction of womanhood in the hadith literature, with special emphasis on Nahj al-Balagha. Contributing a fresh perspective on classical materials, this book will be of interest to students and scholars of Islamic Studies, Women’s Studies and Shi’i Studies.
