Download or read book Reflections written by Brandon Johnson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-01-19 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book, Reflections, to showcase various aspects of life with different views of people’s day-to-day lives as far as living love relationships, struggles, and addictions; coping with death and loss of loved ones, coming back from the war and senseless shootings, struggling to beat the demon within; and trying to beat addictions. This is how we all experience the same issues in life, yet we all handled them differently. You will all experience love, death, breakups, good times, and bad times. But you will all deal with these things differently. This book is a vantage point of all our lives and the way we experience the same things yet deal with them differently individually. I hope you enjoy this book and that it gives you a new meaning on life.

Book excerpt: Imagine a world devoid of the racial bigotries of today's main religions. Imagine a world run by total social acceptance under one universal religion. One could find it hard to argue that it would be the ideal place to live. That is exactly what Josef Zane--scientist, inventor and atheist--plans to do with the world when he invents a time machine and travels back to the days of Jesus to disprove his doctrines, only to replace them with ones of his very own. Returning to the present day, he finds his Universal Religion accepted by half the world's population. Also, he discovers he is no longer a scientist, but a governor of a state. Various circumstances propel him to the highest political office--The President of the United States. And while giving his Inaugural Address, the Rapture takes place, ushering in the pages of Revelation. Now Josef has to govern a world of religious unrest amidst plagues and war. From the four horsemen to the seven bowls of wrath, Josef has to decide if God is indeed real or if these life-changing worldly events are merely coincidental. And worse still, Josef has to decide if he is the prophesied Anti-Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My interest in USS Howorth originated during my thirty-three months of duty in the Pacific Fleet destroyer Hamner, named after Howorth's gunnery officer killed at Okinawa, Lieutenant Henry R. "Pete" Hamner. His legacy jncluded the Reader's Digest subscriptions his mother presented each year to the wardroom and crew. Later, as executive officer in the hydrofoil Plainview, exasperated by the endless stream of logs and records demanded by higher authorities, I peevishly tested the navy's record system and wrote away for information on Lieutenant Hamner and Howorth. I was surprised by the magnitude of the material documenting Howorth's Pacific War, ranging from hourly barometric readings and seawater injection temperatures to ammunition effectiveness reports.
