Rob O’Neill and Dakota Meyer are two of the most decorated and recognized US service members: O’Neill killed the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, and Meyer was the first living Marine to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. But beyond their actions and courage in combat, O’Neill and Meyer also have much in common in civilian life: they are both sought-after public speakers, advocates for veterans, and share a non-PC sense of humor. Combining the best of military memoirs and straight-talking self-help, The Way Forward alternates between O’Neill’s and Meyer’s perspectives, looking back with humor at even the darkest war stories, and sharing lessons they learned along the way. The Way Forward presents O’Neill and Meyer’s philosophy in combat and life. This isn’t a book about the glory of war and combat, but one about facing your enemies, some who are flesh and blood and some that are not: Your thoughts. Your doubts. Your boredom and your regrets. From Rob’s dogged repetition at the free throw line of his childhood basketball court to Dakota’s pursuit of EMT and firefighter credentials to aid accident victims, these two American heroes turn their experiences into valuable lessons for every reader. Gritty and down-to-earth, O’Neill and Meyer tell their stories with candor and vulnerability to help readers handle stress, tackle their biggest obstacles, and exceed their expectations of themselves, while keeping life’s battles in perspective with a sense of humor.

Book In the Midst of Pain

Download or read book In the Midst of Pain written by Juanita R. McNeil and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reason why I wrote this book is that I am hoping that I can reachout to others who are in pain and hopefully help them persevere and cope through life's toughest battles. I want to encourage people who are in some type of pain in hopes that I can help them recover from it. Now, the first four chapters of this book is about my life as a child growing up in a vicious atmosphere and how this same vicious cycle always seems to repeat itself. This vicious cycle grew with me into my adulthood. This book also contains what reality is like for me and how it is for others. Reality is very different for each individual, and each individual deals with it differently. I will also tell you about how I dealt with the pain and how others can learn to deal with it too. Now, if there is someone out there who is in despair and thinks that death is the only answer to all their pain, well, please, I hope that you will continue to read this book. I do pray that it will help you or help you deal with someone you know who thinks that death is the only answer. Believe me when I say that death is not the answer, because it's not. So my purpose of my book is to help you change your perspective on life in THE MIDST OF PAIN. But it is only now that I have come to realize that after enduring some serious traumas in my life, life is good after all, and it is such a blessing to live for God. Just think how life can bring you understanding on how to use your pain as an opportunity to help others in need, who are right in the middle of a crisis. Just when you think you can't handle no more and that you feel like you are at the end of your rope, that is when God shows up, and God will show off his blessings in your life. Please believe me when I say that this is the most beautiful and wonderful feeling to ever have. No one can make you feel as good as God does. Now, not only will God make you feel good, but he will also change your life to the good. All you have to do is just reach out and take his hand, because he is waiting for you. This book is based on the facts and the truth about my life. Now, through the pain that I have endured, I have gained some insight for the purpose of my book. I am blessed to say that this book has changed my life, and I am in hopes that it will help change other people's lives too. The more I read my own book, the more I learn from it. I do hope that it will do the same for you too, for it is my desire to help all those who are in need of an answer. May God bless you as you read this book!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Difficulties and struggles are unavoidable in life, but a person has complete control over one’s personal response to the situation. This book offers readers a plan for responding with optimism for both the challenges and blessings that come their way. Our brain’s default setting is negativity. Ask anyone who has ever tried to lose weight, achieve a new skill, or incorporate a new habit and they can tell you that our natural tendency is to levitate toward mediocrity. However, optimism overpowers that negativity or tendency to be mediocre. International speaker and diversity/inclusion strategist Kimberly Reed’s book Optimists Always Win!: Unlocking the Power to Reach Life’s C-Suite isn’t merely motivational mumbo jumbo. It is designed to help readers develop a process to stay optimistic all the time. Reaching life’s C-Suite means obtaining a level of happiness, peace, wisdom and growth in all areas of our lives. It’s choosing optimism instead of anger, bitterness, or revenge. The life events that unfold for Reed in Optimists Always Win! will do just that—challenge anyone facing what seems to be an impossible situation and show that victory is absolutely possible. Her heroic battle with her mother’s terminal illness and sudden loss as well as her subsequent battle with cancer will encourage others that one doesn’t have to face adversity with pessimism or hopelessness. Relying heavily on her faith in God and the optimism that she learned to cultivate, Kimberly Reed teaches her readers the ten discouragement eliminators she used, which helped her succeed not just in her fight against cancer but as she lives each day as her best self. The message of this book is simple: difficulties and struggles are unavoidable in life, but a person has complete control over one’s personal response to the situation. Readers of this book will discover the following ten tools to eliminate discouragement, grow their faith, and engage an optimistic attitude for their own battles with the wisdom Kimberly was taught and subsequently put into practice during her own diagnosis and ultimate victory. They include: · Discouragement Eliminator #1: Staying Away from Kryptonite · Discouragement Eliminator #2: Defining Your Life’s C-Suite · Discouragement Eliminator #3: Quieting the Soul · Discouragement Eliminator #4: Gratitude · Discouragement Eliminator #5: Faith at the Speed of Light · Discouragement Eliminator #6: Unlocking Your Y.E.S. (You Empower Self) Factor. · Discouragement Eliminator #7: Be Willing to Give What You Require · Discouragement Eliminator #8: The Art of Becoming a Chameleon · Discouragement Eliminator #9: The Power of Your Rearview Mirror · Discouragement Eliminator #10: Taking the Elevator to Life’s C-Suite These tools will help develop the fortitude to face every area of life with faith and optimism.
