Discover beautiful artworks of birds and other winged animals from artist Sue Coccia in this anti-stress adult coloring book. In the follow-up to Color Yourself to Calmness, Sue Coccia presents a collection of original artworks that feature winged animals from around the world. Coloring in these stunning images will soothe and relax you, bringing you inner peace and calm. Coloring has become a form of art therapy, as well as a way to help you explore your creativity. From waterfowl to birds to prey, as well as insects such as dragonflies, Sue’s fascinating images reveal her deep connection to the animal kingdom that surrounds her at home in Washington State, USA. The drawings depict animal totems, which have deep spiritual meaning; by beginning to understand animals’ qualities and traits, we can learn from them. Most people already have a favorite animal that they identify with, even if they cannot always express why. Each artwork is drawn by hand: Sue chooses which animal to draw and plans the outline only in her mind, then begins drawing. She starts in the middle and works outwards, incorporating intricate imagery of other animals and nature, which are all connected to each other and to the main animal. Finally, she adds the outline, creating a spectacular, meaningful artwork. As always, there is a ladybug hidden in every image: she represents good luck, happiness and prosperity!

Download or read book Global Warming Militarism and Nonviolence written by M. Branagan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-28 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Militarism is the elephant in the room of global warming. Of all government sectors, 'Defence' has the highest carbon footprint and expenditure, yet has largely been exempt from international scrutiny and regulation. Marty Branagan uses Australian and international case studies to show that nonviolence is a viable alternative to militarism for national defence and regime change. 'Active resistance', initiated in Australian environmental blockades and now adopted globally, makes the song 'We Shall Not Be Moved' much more realistic, as activists erect tripod villages, bury, chain and cement themselves into the ground, and 'lock-on' to machinery and gates. Active resistance, 'artistic activism', and use of new information and communication technologies in movements such as the Arab Spring and 'Occupy' demonstrate that nonviolence is an effective, evolving praxis.

Download or read book War Bird Ace written by Jack Stokes Ballard and published by Texas A&M University Press. This book was released on 2007-02-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Capt. Field E. Kindley, with the famous Eddie Rickenbacker, was one of America’s foremost World War I flying aces. Like Rickenbacker’s, Kindley’s story is one of fierce dogfights, daring aerial feats, and numerous brushes with death. Yet unlike Rickenbacker’s, Kindley’s story has not been fully told until now. Field Kindley gained experience with the RAF before providing leadership for the U.S. Air Service. Kindley was the fourth-ranking American air ace; his exploits earned him a Distinguished Service Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster from the United States and a Distinguished Flying Cross from the British government. In February 1920, during a practice drill Kindley led, some enlisted men unwittingly entered the bombing target area. “Buzzing” the troops to warn them off the field, Kindley somehow lost control of his plane and died in the ensuing crash. Using arduously gathered primary materials and accounts of Great War aces, Jack Ballard tells the story of this little-known hero from the glory days of aerial warfare. Through this tale, an era and a daring flyer live again.
