"Am well convinced of the histility of our traders towards the factories, but no hostility must exist in the conduct of public agents. If the Osage smith does not go immediately to Fort Osage he will be dismissed. The Cherokees have declared war on the Osages and I suspect are joined by the Quapaws, Chocktaws, etc. The Lake Indians are all unfriendly. The guns, powder, and lead has been given to Mr. C. Chouteau for delivery".

Notes that he has made [dollar sign] 2,000 available to Graham, to use in his capacity as an Indian agent and that after Calhoun arrives in Washington, D.C., Clark will be going to visit his home in Virginia.
