Book Why Can t Grammy Remember Me

Download or read book Why Can t Grammy Remember Me written by Dan Perkins and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a breakthrough book written on an important subject to children, parents, and grandparents. The subject is Dementia, or what is commonly referred to as memory loss. To the best of my knowledge, no other book on this subject has been written specifically for children ages 9 to 12. However, Hudson’s and Charlotte’s endearing adventure is for all readers; children, parents and grandparents. Your children will relate to the adventures of these two young girls, and as they learn about memory loss, so too will you and your children. As people live longer, the population winding up with Dementia is rapidly growing. Parents find themselves ill-equipped to talk to their children about this subject. They themselves know little, and without basic mental health knowledge, parents are unable to discuss this issue with their children. If you have a parent that is fine today, they could start the long, slow, goodbye tomorrow. I believe this book is a must read for all ages, and parents in particular should read it and discuss it with their children. Because this is such an important issue, I am going to donate 10% of my royalties to the Alzheimer Foundation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "HERE is a voice to listen to! Moloney's voice is as true as a voice can be. Concise, with the right details rendered perfectly, these sentences come to the reader with marvelous straight forwardness, clean as a bone."--Elizabeth Strout Olive Kitteridge meets The Mars Room in this powerfully unsentimental work of fiction--a portrait of nine lives behind the concrete walls of a New Hampshire jail. David Moloney's Barker House follows the story of nine unforgettable New Hampshire correctional officers over the course of one year on the job. While veteran guards get by on what they consider survival strategies--including sadistic power-mongering and obsessive voyeurism--two rookies, including the only female officer on her shift, develop their own tactics for facing “the system.” Tracking their subtly intertwined lives, Barker House reveals the precarious world of the jailers, coming to a head when the unexpected death of one in their ranks brings them together. Timely and universal, this masterfully crafted debut adds a new layer to discussions of America's criminal justice system, and introduces a brilliant young literary talent.

Book excerpt: Check out Bob's family members: Arlene, Grammy, Pappy, and Elias. Bob slammed his fist onto the kitchen table, rattling bones not his own! "Arlene, what's wrong?" Sobbing, she said, "I can't find my ring finger!" "I can't stand being around a washed-up, uninspired, lazy writer," says Elias. Arlene stood dreamy eyed in front of the open window as a soft breeze flirted with her hair, parting her auburn locks. Steam flared over the pane; with her pinky, she slashed Bill's name. Family Members consists of other stories: "The Strap" (as a young boy, well, let's just say that Bob's in trouble again and in need of a little strap correction), "Missing Out on the Unexplained" (it's Saturday night, time for another trip to the ER), "Pistol Whipped" (Elias stumbles into a gunshot victim), "Resurrection Hill" (everyone will need a shovel and a loyal partner), "The Underside of Ice" (love freezes over), and "What I Learned from Having Died" (sometimes you're better off to just stay dead).

Book I Remember Me

Download or read book I Remember Me written by Carl Reiner and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I Remember Me weaves an American tapestry of colorful tales, beginning with the timid musings of a young boy on the verge of becoming a man in the Jewish section of New Yorks Bronx neighborhood, and bringing us up to date with the mature insight of a man whose remarkable trajectory has sent him to the top of Hollywoods elite and sparked the careers of dozens of household-name entertainers. Along the way, Reiner treats his loyal readers to everything from the ordinary to the truly unforgettable: a family trip to a nude beach, French lessons with Mel Brooks, a chapter dedicated to Rinnie the dog who unfortunately mistakes a skunk for a cat, a surprise early-morning visit from the McCarthy era FBI, a heart wrenching story of loss describing the day of his wifes passing, and then in a revealing chapter of Reiners character, he describes the most theatrically triumphant day of his young career. Through his memoir, we meet the man behind the success in roles rarely seen before: son to Romanian immigrant Irving Reiner, husband to fellow Bronx native and renowned singer Estelle Reiner, father to the prolific filmmaker Rob Reiner, Dr. Annie Reiner psychoanalyst & gifted singer, and Lucas Reiner, a globally recognized fine artist. Written with the same combination of playful jest and modest humility that has garnered the love and respect of fans for generations, I Remember Me remembers the creative and inspiring journey of one of the most revered comedic icons of the past hundred years. Carl Reiner is at that wonderful point in life where he knows absolutely everything. Especially, how to tell a wonderful story. I just love being in his world and this book is the Grand Tour. Jerry Seinfeld Great stories from the great Carl Reiner. I liked Chapter 29 the best. Albert Brooks At a time when so much of comedy can be cruel and mean spirited... Carl Reiner is a perfect example of comedy and kindness mixed with just the right amount of biting wit to make for a really satisfying read. Jay Leno Crime and Punishment has always been my favorite book... Until Now! Mel Brooks
