Book God Wants Me Here for Now

Download or read book God Wants Me Here for Now written by Kaydee Ledger and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-07-31 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD WANTS ME HERE -- FOR NOW -- God’s Protection through Psychiatric Medication Adverse Reactions is an account of the psychiatric medication mismanagement I have endured and that difficult journey. Though a college educated, confident and involved, married mother of three, I learned the hard way to give grave respect to psychiatric medications. My travails have taught me to do my own research when accepting prescribed medications and not to trust the advice of doctors regarding the safety of the choice, the quantity prescribed, or the method to stop. I was totally unprepared for the level of suffering from antidepressant mismanagement (which was especially complicated by Gabapentin), the disbelief of doctors, or the judgment by family and friends. I had no idea that doctor training was so inadequate regarding those drugs or of the thousands of people, like me, who report their symptoms and are daily diagnosed as somatically preoccupied or with a conversion disorder. The pain caused by inappropriately prescribed drugs affected my jobs, my children, my finances, my public perception, and my involvement in life. (I have lost precious years of life because of psychiatric drugs.) My experience has awakened me to a desperate need in the medical community. I now advocate for informed consent of consumers, better training for doctors, insurance coverage for tapering, smaller manufactured drug quantities, penalties for doctors who cold turkey or fast taper a dangerous drug, and less flippant prescribing of those drugs.

Book I d Like You More If You Were More like Me

Download or read book I d Like You More If You Were More like Me written by John Ortberg and published by NavPress. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I’d Like You More If You Were More like Me takes on one of life’s most important questions: How can I get closer to God and other people? We were created for deep connections. When people have deep connections, says John Ortberg, they win in life. When they don’t have deep connections, they cannot win in life. I’d Like You More if You Were More like Me offers help in overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to making deep connections: the fact that we’re so different. Different from God and different from each other. The good news is that connectedness is not based on similarity, but on shared experiences. When one person invites another to share an experience, they’re connected. It can be sharing a beautiful sunset or a meal, having a great conversation over cup of coffee, going for walk, or even teasing somebody. And when we share those same experiences with God, we get closer to him, too. God wants to connect with us—so much that he sent his son to live as a human being. God took on flesh and shared every human experience. So we don’t have to wonder what a close relationship with God looks like anymore. An intimate relationship with God and other people doesn’t have to be a cliché, it can be a daily way of life.

Book Cherokee Language Lessons

Download or read book Cherokee Language Lessons written by Michael Joyner and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the keys to acquiring a new language is to learn the patterns that make up the language. Simply learning phrases so you can speak "pidgin" Cherokee is not learning Cherokee. You need to learn the fundamentals of the language on how words are put together to be able to understand and communicate in the language. There are many degrees of meaning that different word parts provide and if you don't learn these shades of meaning up front and how they are expressed you will never progress beyond simple memorized phrases and never obtain satisfaction with the language. While each person's skill will differ, one should strive to gain enough understanding of the mechanics of language to be able to comprehend and communicate effectively. The goal of this material is to provide you a solid structural foundation on how Cherokee works. You will learn how words are put together in basic sentences and how to form new words for ideas not listed in the dictionary.

Book excerpt: Comedian Lewis Black unleashes his trademark subversive wit while recounting his own life story in his New York Times bestselling memoir. You've seen him on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart offering up his trademark angry observational humor on everything from politics to pop culture. You've seen his energetic stand-up performances on HBO, Comedy Central, and in venues across the globe. Now, for the first time, Lewis Black translates his volcanic eruptions into book form in Nothing's Sacred, a collection of rants against stupidity and authority, which oftentimes go hand in hand. With subversive wit and intellectual honesty, Lewis examines the events of his life that shaped his antiauthoritarian point of view and developed his comedic perspective. Growing up in 1950s suburbia when father knew best and there was a sitcom to prove it, he began to regard authority with a jaundiced eye at an early age. And as that sentiment grew stronger with each passing year, so did his ability to hone in on the absurd. True to form, he puts common sense above ideology and distills hilarious, biting commentary on all things politically and culturally relevant. "No one is safe from Lewis Black's comic missiles." (New York Times) You have been warned....

Book Satan Wants Me God Has Me

Download or read book Satan Wants Me God Has Me written by Cora Grace (Kirby) Goldman and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-04 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the death by fire of my 3-1/2-year old son, our house became haunted. Voices in closets.Footsteps walking up and down stairs. Lights going off and on. I was ripe to accept Satan's invitation to a spiritualist church, where I could visit with my dead son. Satan's devices are subtle, disguised as God in heaven. I was Satan's puppet for five years. Ouija boards, Tarot cards, tea leaf readings, seances, necromancers. Lev. 19:31 referred to me as a medium with familiar spirits, difiling those I channeled for. Duet 18:10-12 said I was an abomination to the Lord, as I sought information from the dead. Later, I realized these loved ones were demons. My three spirit guides were taking me down the wide road to Hell. As a child I grew up in poverty. I was molested, raped, and conceived through rape. A life of rejection has given me compassion for those going through the same thing. Being a pastor, I have asked God for the outcasts. I'm reminded of the fishermen who were unclean and stank of fish. Then Jesus said to them, "Follow me." These men are still making history. With unconditional love, we are seeing lives change. At the end of five years serving him, Satan tried to kill me, but God saved me. Now I share my story in hopes of helping others. Cora Grace (Kirby) Goldman born in Blanchard, Michigan. Residing in Perrinton, Michigan. 6 Biological children-Darrell, Wendell, BarryLynn, Tamera, Theresa, William - foster parents to 7 now grown children - 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.
