Download or read book Who s Watching written by Kimberly Robins-Wordlaw and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2006-11-10 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book depicts everyday events and circumstances that we are faced with, along with life changing happenings that affect our lives in more ways than we know. Sometimes we make the mistake of reacting to how we feel about it, overruling the word of God. (Ruling it out). Oftentimes things may alter our perception of how we see it. However, God allows things to occur to show us just where we are in Him. And how we understand it might not be how it is. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding” KJV Pr 3:5 There are some things in us all, that need to be uprooted. And it is not until those things are uprooted and torn down, that we can be used and start to rebuild again. “There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to rebuild.” NLT Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 Don't be fooled by the schemes of the enemy. See, the enemy is so crafty in his ways, that sometimes we are blindsided by him. “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes” NIV Ephesian 6:11 God desires to build character in us all. I believe this book is to be a character builder, if you will, in knowing where you are in Him.

Download or read book Look Who s Watching Revised Edition written by Fen Osler Hampson and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Internet ecosystem is held together by a surprisingly intangible glue — trust. To meet its full potential, users need to trust that the Internet works reliably and efficiently when providing them with the information they are seeking, while also being secure, private and safe. When trust in the Internet wanes, the network’s stock of “digital social capital” falls and users begin to alter their online behaviour. These often subtle changes in behaviour tend to be collectively highly maladaptive, hindering the economic, developmental and innovative potential of the globe-spanning network of networks. Look Who’s Watching: Surveillance, Treachery and Trust Online confirms in vivid detail that the trust placed by users in the Internet is increasingly misplaced. Edward Snowden’s revelations that the United States National Security Agency and other government agencies are spying on Internet users, the proliferation of cybercrime and the growing commodification of user data and regulatory changes — which threaten to fragment the system — are all rapidly eroding the confidence users have in the Internet ecosystem. Based on a combination of illustrative anecdotal evidence and analysis of new survey data, Look Who’s Watching clearly demonstrates why trust matters, how it is being eroded and how, with care and deliberate policy action, the essential glue of the Internet can be restored.

Download or read book Supervision written by Sophie Hamacher and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2023-04-25 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wide-ranging, first-of-its-kind anthology of art and writing exploring how surveillance impacts contemporary motherhood. The tracking of our personal information, activities, and medical data through our digital devices is an increasingly recognizable field in which the lines between caretaking and control have blurred. In this age of surveillance, mothers' behaviors and bodies are observed, made public, exposed, scrutinized, and policed like never before. Supervision: On Motherhood and Surveillance gathers together the work of fifty contributors from diverse disciplines that include the visual arts, legal scholarship, ethnic studies, sociology, gender studies, poetry, and activism to ask what the relationship is between how we watch and how we are watched, and how the attention that mothers pay to their children might foster a kind of counterattention to the many ways in which mothers are scrutinized. A groundbreaking collection, Supervision is a project about vision (and supervision), and all the ways in which vision intersects with surveillance and politics, through motherhood and personal history as well as through the histories and relations of the societies in which we live. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1940, the historian Emanuel Ringelblum established a clandestine organization, code named Oyneg Shabes, in Nazi-occupied Warsaw to study and document all facets of Jewish life in wartime Poland and to compile an archive that would preserve this history for posterity. As the Final Solution unfolded, although decimated by murders and deportations, the group persevered in its work until the spring of 1943. Of its more than 60 members, only three survived. Ringelblum and his family perished in March 1944. But before he died, he managed to hide thousands of documents in milk cans and tin boxes. Searchers found two of these buried caches in 1946 and 1950. Who Will Write Our History tells the gripping story of Ringelblum and his determination to use historical scholarship and the collection of documents to resist Nazi oppression.

Download or read book Raising Ryland written by Hillary Whittington and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2016-02-23 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This powerful, moving story—which has already touched more than seven million through a viral video created by the Whittington family—is a mother’s first-hand account of her emotional choice to embrace her transgender child. When Hillary and Jeff Whittington posted a YouTube video chronicling their five-year-old son Ryland’s transition from girl to boy, they didn’t expect it to be greeted with such fervor. Beautiful and moving, the video documenting Hillary’s and Jeff’s love for their child instantly went viral and has been seen by more than seven million viewers since its posting in May 2014. Now for the first time, they tell their story in full, offering an emotional and moving account of their journey alongside their exceptional child. After they discovered their daughter Ryland was deaf at age one and needed cochlear implants, the Whittingtons spent nearly four years successfully teaching Ryland to speak. But once Ryland gained the power of speech, it was time for them to listen as Ryland insisted, “I am a boy!” And listen they did. After learning that forty-one percent of people who identify as transgender attempt to take their own lives, Hillary and her husband Jeff made it their mission to support their child—no matter what. From the earliest stages of deciphering Ryland through clothing choices to examining the difficult conversations that have marked every stage of Ryland’s transition, Hillary Whittington shares her experiences as a mother through it all, demonstrating both the resistance and support that their family has encountered as they try to erase the stigma surrounding the word “transgender.” In telling her family’s story, she hopes she can assist the world in accepting that even children as young as five, can have profound and impactful things to say and share. What emerges is a powerful story of unconditional love, accepting others for who they are, and doing what’s right, regardless of whether those around you understand it.
