Book I Know a Little About a Lot of Things

Download or read book I Know a Little About a Lot of Things written by Rick Tough and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2022-07-20 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a chronicle of my life and my life-long career in the construction industry throughout Western Canada. It begins, as my life did, in the 50’s and traverses through to this present day, reflcting on the many life experiences, challenges and achievements that I have appreciated over the last 68 years. Growing up in this post-war era and living through the vast societal and economic changes since that time has been a great period to live, grow and work. For those readers who are my vintage, I hope it brings back fond memories and familiar feelings and for those younger readers, I hope it illustrates a completely different world than where we live today; not better, not worse, just very different.

Book excerpt: A Mother’s Love Story Tragedy Courage Resilience Hope “One cold winter’s day, my life’s trajectory tragically and unimaginably changed in an instant... forever!” - Tracy Stark, Mother of Radek and Ryder Early on a Monday morning in December 2016, Tracy Stark and her husband Brent discover that Tracy’s sons, Ryder, 13, and Radek, 11, are absent from school and are not answering their phones. When Tracy and Brent go to the home of her ex-husband to investigate, they are met by a life-shattering scene. Ryder and Radek have been murdered... by their biological father, who then shot and killed himself. Surrounded by the love and support of her shocked community and grieving friends and family, Tracy enlists the assistance of trauma therapist Sandra Young Kolbuc to help process her post-traumatic stress responses, her bottomless grief and learn to manage her devastating new reality. In April of 2019, Tracy asked her therapist for guidance to recount her story and that of her two precious sons to bring awareness for the need to change societal attitudes and systems that she believes failed them all. These radiant boys were full of life and passionately loved not only hockey, but their Mama as well. Gross Misconduct – Hitting from Behind, chronicles a mother’s journey from utter devastation to finding a measure of peace and purpose, meaning and mastery in the days, months and years following the death of her children.

Book A The Terrestrial Environment

Download or read book A The Terrestrial Environment written by P. Fritz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Environmental Isotope Geochemistry, Volume 1: The Terrestrial Environment, A focuses on isotope hydrology and aqueous geochemistry, as well as an overview of carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen isotopes in terrestrial systems. The selection first elaborates on the isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen in precipitation, carbon-14 in hydrogeological studies, and environmental isotopes in groundwater hydrology. Concerns cover groundwater dating, mechanism of salinization, groundwater recharge, models of the isotope fractionation during evaporation and condensation of water in the atmosphere, and stable isotope distribution in atmospheric waters. The book then examines environmental isotopes in ice and snow, isotopic evidence on environments of geothermal systems, and sulfur and oxygen isotopes in aqueous sulfur compounds. Discussions focus on geochemistry and isotope distribution of aqueous sulfur compounds, isotopic dating of geothermal waters, origin of chemical constituents, geothermometry, isotope distribution during the reduction of a temperate snow cover, and snow and ice isotope hydrology. The manuscript explores environmental isotopes as environmental and climatological indicators, sulfur isotopes in the environment, nitrogen-15 in the natural environment, and the isotopic composition of reduced organic carbon. The selection is a valuable reference for researchers interested in isotope geochemistry.

  • Publisher : Dorrance Publishing
  • Release : 2024-01-22
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 141 pages

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book The Alaska Journal is an exciting day-by-day account of author Lincoln Steward’s four-month-long solo bicycle tour from Nazareth, PA, to Homer, AK, and back again. Join him in discovering the planning of the trip, the routes he traveled, the places he ate and slept, and the people he met along the way. Cyclists with an interest in long-distance touring, and non-cyclists as well, will enjoy seeing how Lincoln tests his own physical and mental fortitude by getting out of the comfort zone of his normal everyday surroundings while having interactions with people of all walks of life during a time when people are very divided by political issues. For cyclists thinking about trying a similar adventure, this is an opportunity to learn from his experience. About the Author Lincoln Steward is a 51-year-old, single, self-employed man who lives alone, which is a big reason why he had the opportunity to take the time for such an experience as his bicycle tour. Aside from being an avid cyclist, he remodels homes, mostly bathrooms and kitchens, specializing in tile setting. He tunes up bicycles as a side gig and occasionally does some artistic woodworking as a hobby. Mostly known for bicycling, Lincoln has ridden over ten thousand miles a year for the last decade, including many endurance events, several multi-day “bikepacking” adventures, and three self-supported cross-country tours. He rides with a couple different cycling clubs in the Lehigh Valley, PA, and has worked in a couple different bicycle shops.
