It commands you to tell what you have witnessed to the public and is accompanied by an entourage of stars. At the same time, you are being bombarded with biblical manifestations and visions all pointing to Christ -and you have never so much as read a Bible before! But now you must and have been told by vision to write a book about it. This is a true testimony of an extraordinary happening, to a very ordinary woman, told plainly and in great detail, with no exaggeration or elaboration. Author Christine Jones swears by her account as absolute truth. A book for everyone, written for non-believers as well as the religious, it is an encounter with the unknown that will do more than make you think, it may make you question your understanding of who we are and what we're doing here. “He will come as a thief in the night”- said the apostle Peter (in -2 Peter 3:10). So, was this a secret visit by Jesus to warn us of his return? Christine Jones believes so, -see if you can agree.

Book Krishnamurtis Notebook

    Book Details:
  • Author : J Krishnamurti
  • Publisher : Krishnamurti Foundation Trust UK
  • Release : 2016-08-08
  • ISBN : 1911140965
  • Pages : 278 pages

Download or read book Krishnamurtis Notebook written by J Krishnamurti and published by Krishnamurti Foundation Trust UK. This book was released on 2016-08-08 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Krishnamurti's Notebook first became available in 1976, it was soon realized that it was a spiritually unique document giving his perceptions and experiences and describing his states of consciousness. It is a kind of diary but one that is little concerned with the day to day process of living, though very much aware of the natural world. Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on 11 May 1895 in Madanapalle, a small town in south India. He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then president of the Theosophical Society. Dr Besant and others proclaimed that Krishnamurti was to be a world teacher whose coming the Theosophists had predicted. To prepare the world for this coming, a world-wide organization called the Order of the Star in the East was formed and the young Krishnamurti was made its head. In 1929, however, Krishnamurti renounced the role that he was expected to play, dissolved the Order with its huge following, and returned all the money and property that had been donated for this work. From then, for nearly sixty years until his death on 17 February 1986, he travelled throughout the world talking to large audiences and to individuals about the need for a radical change in mankind. Krishnamurti is regarded globally as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. He did not expound any philosophy or religion, but rather talked of the things that concern all of us in our everyday lives, of the problems of living in modern society with its violence and corruption, of the individual's search for security and happiness, and the need for mankind to free itself from inner burdens of fear, anger, hurt, and sorrow. He explained with great precision the subtle workings of the human mind, and pointed to the need for bringing to our daily life a deeply meditative and spiritual quality. Krishnamurti belonged to no religious organization, sect or country, nor did he subscribe to any school of political or ideological thought. On the contrary, he maintained that these are the very factors that divide human beings and bring about conflict and war. He reminded his listeners again and again that we are all human beings first and not Hindus, Muslims or Christians, that we are like the rest of humanity and are not different from one another. He asked that we tread lightly on this earth without destroying ourselves or the environment. He communicated to his listeners a deep sense of respect for nature. His teachings transcend man-made belief systems, nationalistic sentiment and sectarianism. At the same time, they give new meaning and direction to mankind's search for truth. His teaching, besides being relevant to the modern age, is timeless and universal. Krishnamurti spoke not as a guru but as a friend, and his talks and discussions are based not on tradition-based knowledge but on his own insights into the human mind and his vision of the sacred, so he always communicates a sense of freshness and directness although the essence of his message remained unchanged over the years. When he addressed large audiences, people felt that Krishnamurti was talking to each of them personally, addressing his or her particular problem. In his private interviews, he was a compassionate teacher, listening attentively to the man or woman who came to him in sorrow, and encouraging them to heal themselves through their own understanding. Religious scholars found that his words threw new light on traditional concepts. Krishnamurti took on the challenge of modern scientists and psychologists and went with them step by step, discussed their theories and sometimes enabled them to discern the limitations of those theories. Krishnamurti left a large body of literature in the form of public talks, writings, discussions with teachers and students, with scientists and religious figures, conversations with individuals, television and radio interviews, and letters.

Book The Cambridge History of American Literature Volume 4 Nineteenth Century Poetry 1800 1910

Download or read book The Cambridge History of American Literature Volume 4 Nineteenth Century Poetry 1800 1910 written by Sacvan Bercovitch and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1994 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first complete narrative history of nineteenth-century American poetry. Barbara Packer explores the neoclassical and satiric forms mastered by the early Federalist poets; the creative reaches of once-celebrated, and still compelling, poets like Longfellow and Whittier; the distinctive lyric forms developed by Emerson and the Transcendentalists. Shira Wolosky provides a new perspective on the achievement of female poets of the period, as well as a close appreciation of African-American poets, including the collective folk authors of the Negro spirituals. She also illuminates the major works of the period, from Poe through Melville and Crane, to Whitman and Dickinson. The authors of this volume discuss this extraordinary literary achievement both in formal terms and in its sustained engagement with changing social and cultural conditions. In doing so they recover and elucidate American poetry of the nineteenth century for our twenty-first century pleasure, profit, and renewed study.

Book excerpt: Caterina Cammino is an attractive and reclusive thirty-five-year-old woman whose nightly ritual is to go to the beach and drink wine from the bar of her car. Though alcohol is her crutch and companion, it cant erase the memory of the summer of 1988 when she lost her innocence--and awoke to a scream. Tyler Beck is an intellectually gifted eighteen-year-old loner who has an invisible, magical cord above his right shoulder; he is also a former drug addict who was rehabilitated with the help of a counselor named Robie. After Robie dies, however, a distraught Beck exits his friends funeral and seeks refuge at the beachand in heroin. Their lives collide when Caterinas car strikes a trashcan that crashes into the semi-conscious Beck. When they both ask aloud for help, the grieving parts of themselves are transported to another dimension called 10-17. Caterina arrives in this dimension as her seventeen-year-old self, Cat, and there she meets Beck, whom she nicknames Ty. Once in this new world, set against a backdrop of Italy, they meet a Watcher named Miranda who tells them that they are in 10-17 for healing, even while their parallel lives are continuing on Earth. Miranda explains that the dimensions are spaced like slats on a window blind; she also tells the teenagers about a place called Thare, an Earth-like dimension populated by humans, but without suffering or addiction. While Beck readily embraces his love for the mature Caterina, she is conflicted over her feelings for a man half her age. Meanwhile, in Dimension 10-17, as Cat and Ty complete their lesson, they are torn over the choice that Miranda offers them: To go to the perfect world of Thare and leave the Earth and their families behind, or to return wholly to their Earthly selves...
