Book When Silence Speaks Louder Than Words

Download or read book When Silence Speaks Louder Than Words written by Katrina E. Spigner and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is silence golden? Is talk cheap? Does silence speak louder than words? This qualitative study answered the research focused question, How do women who work in faith-based organizations (FBOs) in South Carolina perceive and experience organizational silence in the work place? Through semi-structured interview, eight study participants relived experiences of silence. The study concluded that women's perceptions and experiences of silence were deep- seated and emotional. The enactment of silence and/or voice brought with it embedded thoughts and feelings that catalyzed sense-making and meaning. This study further concluded that women perceived and experienced silence through believing silence lessons that co-occurred with disregard in the organization, accepting silence systems that co-occurred with disillusionment in the organization, and choosing silence and voice that were directive in the organization.

Book Knowledge Language and Silence

Download or read book Knowledge Language and Silence written by Anna Brożek and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Izydora Dąmbska (1904-1982) was a Polish philosopher; a student of Kazimierz Twardowski, and his last assistant. Her output consists of almost 300 publications. The main domains of her research were semiotics, epistemology and broadly understood methodology as well as axiology and history of philosophy. Dąmbska’s approach to philosophical problems reflected tendencies that were characteristic of the Lvov-Warsaw School. She applied high methodological standards but has never limited the domain of analyzed problems in advance. The present volume includes twenty-eight translations of her representative papers. As one of her pupils rightly wrote: “Dąmbska’s works may help everyone [...] to think clearly. Her attitude of an unshaken philosopher may help anyone to hold oneself straight, and, if necessary, to get up after a fall”.

Book Welcome to the Christian Faith

Download or read book Welcome to the Christian Faith written by Christopher L. Webber and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A foundational volume for seekers in formation programs and a “refresher” study volume for individuals and congregational study groups. We live in a world increasingly separated from the Christian tradition and the basic understanding of the faith that previous ages might have taken for granted. The voices of faith seem increasingly strident and off-putting to many. There is a need for a calmer, basic introduction to faith that recognizes the value of doubt and the questions raised in a secular society. A systematic introduction to Christianity for newcomers needs to begin with a discussion of faith itself and then move on to a discussion of such Christian basics as God, Trinity, Church, sin, atonement, prayer, and Christian living.
