Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Joshua Weissman is back with a bold and exciting new cookbook that will take your cooking to an entirely different level! Everyone knows flavor is important, right? But what's that secret sauce that turns eating into an unforgettable experience? It's the secret sauce that nobody seems to talk about enough—it's not flavor, it's texture! When flavor meets textures like creamy, chewy, or crunchy, the eating experience evolves into something entirely new and utterly fantastic. Flavor is one thing, but texture is what really makes the experience complete. In Joshua Weissman: Texture Over Taste, Joshua Weissman introduces you to the elements of flavor, then uses stories and fun visualizations to dive deeper and teach you about the six fundamental textures that create some of the greatest food experiences you'll ever enjoy. Joshua then explores each texture through over 75 spectacular recipes. In the "Crunchy" chapter, you'll learn how to make recipes like the most amazing fried chicken you've ever tasted, french fries (of course), and arancini. "Chewy" is where you'll discover recipes like his personal never-been-shared recipe for New York bagels, jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), and brown sugar boba tea. "Aerated" features a cheese foam, challah bourbon french toast casserole, and a lighter-than-air glazed donut. "Creamy" is where you'll indulge in one-pound-of-butter mashed potatoes, perfectly baked mac and cheese, and decadent tres leches. In "Fluid" you'll dive into juicy birria tacos, diner-style milkshakes, and matzo ball soup. Finally, "Fatty" features a 72-hour short rib with coffee caramel, hamachi crudo, and a Texas toast smashburger. Each chapter opens with an irreverent introduction to the featured texture that explains how it impacts flavor, written from the unique perspective that only Joshua can provide. With Joshua Weissman, there is no compromising; he'll challenge you to think about cooking and food in an entirely different way. You'll experience cooking exactly as it's supposed to be—fun and maybe even a little dangerous!

Book Personality Assessment in Depth

Download or read book Personality Assessment in Depth written by Marshall L. Silverstein and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprised of five unique and extended case studies, Personality Assessment in Depth examines contemporary clinical problems that are familiar to clinicians, but have not been explored extensively in the personality assessment field. Each case study demonstrates the test protocols of the Rorschach test, Thematic Apperception Test, MMPI or MCMI, and Human Figure Drawings. Important clinical questions and areas of theoretical concern are examined, including differential diagnosis of disorders of affect and personality in light of contemporary viewpoints about these disturbances, personality and adaptation accompanying neuropsychological deficit, and stages of development, including differentiating these from personality characteristics viewed longitudinally, the latter demonstrated by a noteworthy comparison of two evaluations of the same patient, first as a 15-year-old adolescent and then as a 25-year-old adult. A battery of performance and self report personality instruments are applied to the cases, allowing the author to integrate findings across multiple tests and thereby expose clinical psychology students to personality assessment in a broad perspective. Cases are discussed comprehensively, relying on a thorough consideration of thematic content examined alongside formal test scores. Further, the Rorschach findings are examined using both the Exner Comprehensive System and the recently-introduced Rorschach Performance Assessment System approaches. The cases are considered using a broad psychodynamic framework for interpretation, employing classical ego psychology, object relations, and self psychological theoretical perspectives. This is an essential casebook for professionals and students, demonstrating the depth and richness of personality considered alongside the empirical foundations of personality assessment.

Download or read book The Stars Are Not Enough written by Joseph C. Hermanowicz and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1998-10-15 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on sixty interviews with physicists at universities across the United States, The Stars are Not Enough offers a detailed and intimate account of the worlds in which scientists work. Joseph C. Hermanowicz looks at a range of scientists from young graduate students to older professionals well into their careers. The result is a colorful portrait of a profession and its diverse cast of characters. These deeply personal narratives reveal dreams of fame and glory, in which scientists confess their ambitions of becoming the next Newton or Einstein. However, these scientists also discuss the meaning of success and failure. We hear their stories of aspiration and anxiety, disappointment and tragedy, hope and achievement; we are privy to their doubts and to what they consider to be their limitations and weaknesses. As the scientists age in their professions, the specter of failure often visits them, and they have to accept something less than scientific immortality or even the Nobel Prize. Ultimately these stories give us more than an inside look at the details of careers in science, they also examine ambition by uncovering the forces that drive people in their professions and by describing how these forces persist or fade over time. Ambition for greatness often ignites a career and often sustains it. Yet, as Hermanowicz's study reveals, greatness eludes nearly all people in their heroic quests for extraordinary achievement. The Stars Are Not Enough offers a fascinating account that will appeal to anyone interested in how people's dreams blossom and evolve.
