  • Author : Ruth Gould-Goodman
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2008-08-22
  • ISBN : 1452039704
  • Pages : 295 pages

Download or read book The Sacred Book of U written by Ruth Gould-Goodman and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-08-22 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This information gifts people the power to stand in their truth. Our time in history demands that every single person who can stand for truth come forward.” She’s Arrived! A contemporary voice of the Deep Feminine has finally come to join today’s conversation on consciousness and enlightenment. In The Sacred Book of U, Ruth Gould-Goodman—mother and wife, dancer, breath-movement master, and oriental and energy medicine practitioner—elucidates a fresh, philosophically sophisticated, and accessible perspective on feminine spiritual enlightenment. For the modern student (or new devotee) of consciousness and the power of mind, The Sacred Book of U offers a nuanced and compassionate understanding of positive vs. negative thinking. Obviating the typical dualistic posture towards negativity or pain of many consciousness paths, The Sacred Book of U radically proposes that pain is the Universe knocking on our door, providing the only human way into expanded consciousness and true spiritual growth. The Voice of the Mother, moreover, asserts that spiritual growth can only be initiated through the body—the universal yet uniquely individual portal to a holistic divinity in an otherwise divided and fragmented world. Birthed from a lifetime’s marriage of body-breath movement practice and a deep, clear mind, Ruth’s work provides a tangible, grounded, and whole-systems perspective on authentic transformation. Complete with personal stories containing universal messages, mind-body exercises for practical application, and philosophical discussion of some of today’s most pressing global concerns, The Sacred Book of U is a treasure for spiritual readers and students looking for an accessible path of enlightened living and a truly holistic and grounded spiritual practice. The world has been withheld from the feminine’s ‘secret’ for too long! Those who have been ready for an alternative to the long-dominant masculine voices of spirituality will experience Ruth’s teachings with relief and eager enthusiasm.

Book True Grunt

Download or read book True Grunt written by Billy White and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-02-13 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: True Grunt is not about a Vietnam battle or a Vietnam journal/ memoir. It is a response to seeing short "Vietnam War 50 years later videos" on TV. These videos show two sides of the infantry in Vietnam. One side depicts the infantry fighting heroically and the other depicts the infantry committing some kind of atrocity. I served on the front lines with the infantry/grunt in 1970-1971. With many grandchildren, I don't want this mixed message to be my legacy. In those years, the infantry especially became the most maligned soldiers in our country's history. We were known as the baby killers and monsters of Vietnam. Those names continue to haunt us today. By seeing and experiencing my life as infantry-"grunt"-at that time, I hope the reader of True Grunt sees the infantry as moral men of intelligence and courage. They fought in some of the worst conditions of war. It is also a story of hope as one Vietnam Veteran regains his life, overcomes personal tragedies, and even disease from Agent Orange. It's time to project "50 years later videos" with just one message. Thousands of Vietnam grunts like myself were true to ourselves, our morals and our country. We won a great Victory in Vietnam. No asterisk needed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essential reading for those interested in questions of justice and cultural representation, Land/Relations speaks to and moves beyond the critical junctures in the study of Canadian literatures today. In the aftermath of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and following Canada’s sesquicentennial, Land/Relations presents a collaborative effort at what Smaro Kamboureli and Larissa Lai call “counter-memory,” a collective effort to recognise “relationships that have always been”—between peoples, between humanity and other living forms, between us and the land—in an effort to avoid erasure, loss, and trauma. Twenty influential literary critics engage a variety of genres—essay, life writing, testament, polemic, poetry—to explore the ways Canadian cultural production has been shaped by social and historical relations and can be given new and various forms to decolonize the institutions associated with the creation of this country’s vision of Canadian literature.

How could capturing the last wild California condors help save them? Why are some states planning to cull populations of the gray wolf, despite this species only recently making it off the endangered list? How did a decision made during the Civil War to use alligator skin for cheap boots nearly drive the animal to extinction? Back from the Brink answers these questions and more as it delves into the threats to seven species, and the scientific and political efforts to coax them back from the brink.
