Book excerpt: England 1814 Theirs was a forbidden love… Agent for the Crown, Ciarán Kelly, is an Irishman who loves women. All women. Big, small, buxom, slender, blonde, ginger, rich, poor—their features matter not. Fortunately, he was born with a silver tongue, enough wit and charisma to rival Claude Duvall, and an air of mystery, necessary to be an effective spy. In short, women love him. But after being branded a traitor and tortured by the very villains he’s vowed to destroy, he’s lost his memory and is left with only one person in the world he can—and must—depend upon…and she despises the very air he breathes. And the betrayal runs deep... Frederica Glyndŵr has matured since her father erased her from the family tree, tossing her to the streets of London with nothing more than her wits to aid her survival. What started out as a horrific journey towards female enslavement has ended up being the best possible thing to happen to her. She’s learned to be a fighter, a thief, a stealthy observer, and a surprising revelation to any villain who happens along—they love to underestimate her. Everything is finally perfect. Until a disappointment from her past invades her life once more, threatening to expose her secrets. She’s ready for a reckoning, but never forgiveness…too bad he has no memory of their past. Can true love prevail over such sins? Frederica can’t speak for some sins, but she’s damn sure it can’t survive all secrets…

Download or read book As I Remember It written by Howard Nelson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-07-18 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story of my life as I remember it, beginning in the Summer Lake Valley in the year of 1916. Most families in the early 1900’s didn’t have much and didn’t expect much. Even after my folks were able to buy the farm in Summer Lake Valley it was “nip and tuck”, you might say, to survive and to keep up the payments. Even after I got married in 1944 our life wasn’t easy. Wages were low, even after World War II. I could have gone to college under the G.I. bill since I had been in the Navy, but I was more interested in buying a farm and raising cattle and sheep. Most ranchers were having to go see the banker every year to borrow operating money so farms were not really a very good investment. Still, I think that when we were able to buy our little ten-acre farm it became the highlight of our family’s life. I enjoyed the fishing and deer hunting in Lake County, and took good advantage of it while we were there. That was all fun at the time, but now that the retirement years are here it has to be okay. I will always remember the days on the little farm and raising a family as being my best days.
