Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prospecting? Presentations? Closing? Enrolling? These are the easy steps. Now the hard work begins. Our new team members know ... nothing. They think, “What do I do first? I don’t have a business plan. I only have the skills from my old profession, but not the ones I need for this new network marketing profession. Where do I start?” Here is the problem. New team members don’t know what they don’t know. They don’t know what they should ask us. This is how they start, and yet we expect them to be successful on their own. This book shows us how we can serve our new team members better. We will learn how successful sponsors kickstart their team’s success by building the strongest foundation possible. Here are just a few of our new team members’ questions that we need to answer: - Which direction do I go first? - How long is “long-term?” - What if I feel unmotivated? - How can I handle resistance? - What if others tell me I made a bad decision? - How can you keep me on track? We will use the best teaching skills available - like analogies and stories - to develop successful mindsets in our new team members. Get ready to become an awesome sponsor.
Download or read book The Sponsor Effect written by Sylvia Ann Hewlett and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2019-05-28 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you investing in the right people? Many people know the benefit of finding a sponsor--someone who goes beyond traditional mentorship to partner with a junior-level employee to help build their skills, advocate for them when opportunities arise, and open doors. But few realize that being a sponsor is just as important to career growth as finding one. According to new research from economist and thought leader Sylvia Ann Hewlett, senior executives who sponsor rising talent are 53 percent more likely to be promoted than those who don't. Similarly, middle-level managers who have proteges are 167 percent more likely to be given stretch assignments. Well-chosen proteges contribute stellar performance, steadfast loyalty, and capabilities that you, the sponsor, may lack, thus increasing how fast and how far you can go. But how do you find standout proteges, let alone develop them so that they're able to come through for you and your organization? This book has the answers you need. Combining powerful new data and rich examples drawn from in-depth interviews with leaders from companies such as Unilever, Aetna, Blizzard Entertainment, and EY, The Sponsor Effect provides a seven-step playbook for how you can become a successful sponsor. You'll learn to: Identify the right mix of proteges Include those with differing perspectives Inspire your proteges and ignite their ambition Instruct them to develop key skill sets Inspect your picks for performance and loyalty Instigate a deal, detailing the terms of a relationship Invest three ways and reap the rewards Along the way, you'll discover the enormous benefits of investing in these valuable relationships.
Download or read book Building Smart Teams written by Carol A. Beatty and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2004-07-08 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building Smart Teams is an essential guide to creating a smart team fast. Based on research results from close to 2,000 individuals organized in more than 250 teams, Building Smart Teams identifies the three critical skill sets that teams need and shows how to transfer these skills to a group. The authors' research and experience shows that, by concentrating on these three critical skills sets, a group is almost certain to quickly become a high performing team. High-functioning teams are increasingly important to organizational success, but just throwing a team together will not give the desired results. Building Smart Teams gives you the theory and rationale behind high performance teams, but, in addition, it is packed with exercises, diagnostic tools, tips, and techniques to use with groups. The exercises are time-tested with the more than 100 groups trained by the authors. The approach is not to dictate the one best way for teams to behave, but, rather, to help team members build skills and implement processes to increase success. Within this model, there is ample room for teams to discover their own unique culture, performance strategies, and paths to success.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will pressing the elevator button three times put it into “faster mode?” Did we break the secret elevator code? No. We all look for ways to break the “hidden codes” in our lives. Why? To better understand our world. Or maybe to discover shortcuts. It is the same when we try to understand our brains and the brains of our prospects. We wonder: - Why does my brain work against me? - What is my brain doing while I am not paying attention? - How do I break through the irrational defenses of my prospects? - What can I say to get through to prejudiced prospects? - Can I do something to change other people’s minds? - How can I understand my own irrational brain? It is hard to play the game if we don’t know the rules. Our brains operate in strange ways, but many of these quirks are consistent. We can learn some of these special brain rules and work with them. If we don’t, we’ll simply walk away muttering, “I just don’t get it. Nothing makes sense.” So instead of cursing the darkness, enjoy learning new and better ways to understand how we and our prospects think and act. We will smile as we learn how to deal with the 3-pound challenges inside our skulls. And the bonus? We will recognize these irrational brain rules as they play out in real life. With knowledge comes power.

Download or read book Fundraising the SMART Way written by Ellen Bristol and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-13 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strategic planning and tactical fundraising can maximize income and minimize costs Fundraising is the lifeblood of the nonprofit, and, successful or otherwise, determines the organization's ability to provide for the group it serves. Every organization attempts to lower overhead while increasing donations, but this often proves to be impossible within existing frameworks. Effective fundraising - increasing donations while engaging more donors and lowering costs - requires a sound strategy that turns major roadblocks into minor hurdles that are easily overcome. It's not about trying harder, it's about working smarter. Fundraising the SMART Way provides the groundwork for a complete revamp of organizational fundraising systems. Author Ellen Bristol applies twenty years of corporate sales experience and eighteen years in fund development consultation to the problem of inefficient fundraising. Bristol turns her extensive sales expertise toward the perspective of "selling" an organization to potential donors, increasing the donor pool, and lowering the cost of fundraising. The book details the questions every nonprofit should be asking to maximize the effectiveness of fundraising efforts, and encourages systematic strategy development by zeroing in on key factors such as: Organizational goals, strengths, and weaknesses Donor actions and motivations Workload management and results QA Opportunity evaluation and organizational action The book outlines clear, concrete, actionable steps that can be immediately implemented to escalate income growth. Effective fundraising is sustainable, consistent, and on-target. It must exceed current need and expand to fill future need. Fundraising the SMART Way represents a true breakthrough in that it lays a foundation for true systemic overhaul, and can be the catalyst for the growth of any nonprofit.
Download or read book Breakthrough Nonprofit Branding written by Jocelyne Daw and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-10-26 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Breakthrough NONPROFIT BRANDING At a time of intense competition, low barrier to entry, and lightning-quick brand recognition, leading nonprofits are building more value-rich branding programs. They are proactively creating business models that bring their brand to life in the hearts and minds of their stakeholders. Breakthrough Nonprofit Branding demonstrates how a constituency-focused, compelling brand can revolutionize an organization and the way people view and support it. As practiced in real life, most nonprofits define “branding” as their visual identity produced to aid in awareness and fundraising. However important logos and trademarks are, this limited perspective leaves a significant amount of value on the table. Visionary, mission-driven organizations recognize brand as a bigger canvas for their work. To them, branding is the daily expression of their purpose and a way to communicate their promise to stakeholders. Their brand is their trust mark—their commitment to consistently deliver on who they are, what they stand for, and their unique benefits. Drawing on their combined seventy plus years of experience in the nonprofit and corporate sectors, the authors studied eleven visionary nonprofits to reveal the seven principles for transforming a brand from ordinary trademark to strategic competitive advantage. The groups profiled reflect a variety of sizes, breadths, regions, and issues. The common thread is that their brand work has resulted in greater social impact and vibrant growth. Through the use of case studies, Breakthrough Nonprofit Branding reveals how: A nonprofit put its renewed brand to work to propel its organization forward—despite inconsistent community support Renewed brand meaning heightened stakeholder commitment, stabilized an organization’s financial position, and empowered it to weather a roiling economy A small organization’s brand campaign resulted in exceptional growth A re-brand transformed a nonprofit, enabling it to expand from a regional to national footprint One of the largest nonprofits lost momentum and regained direction through a revitalized brand process Breakthrough Nonprofit Branding shows you how to create a brand that creates unique value, builds deep relationships, fosters loyal communities, and increases social impact. It offers a practical road map and essential tool for nonprofit leaders, board members, and volunteers, as well as communications professionals, development consultants, marketing agencies, academics, students, and all those interested in catalyzing dynamic results for the organizations they serve.
Download or read book 12 Stupid Things That Mess Up Recovery 12 Smart Things to Do When the Booze an written by Allen Berger and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-11-17 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bundle of two ebooks by recovery expert Dr. Allen Berger to help you avoid pitfalls and be proactive in your recovery journey. 12 Stupid Things That Mess Up Recovery contains concise advice on hunting down the personal culprits that sabotage sobriety and personal happiness. To grow in recovery, we must grow up emotionally. This means getting honest with ourselves and facing up to the self-defeating thoughts and actions that put our sobriety at risk. Although there are as many ways to mess up recovery as there are alcoholics and addicts, some general themes exist, which include: confusing self-concern with selfishness; not making amends; using the program to try to become perfect; not getting help for relationship troubles; and believing that life should be easy. In simple, down-to-earth language, Allen Berger explores the twelve most commonly confronted beliefs and attitudes that can sabotage recovery. He then provides tools for working through these problems in daily life. 12 Smart Things to Do When the Booze and Drugs Are Gone offers a fresh list of "smart" things to do to attain and sustain emotional sobriety. Whether it's called "dry drunk" or "white knuckle sobriety," it's that stage in recovery when we realize that "putting the plug in the jug" isn't enough. The next step is taking responsibility for the emotional immaturity that fuels our addictive personality and has a tremendous impact on ourselves and others. These smart things include: understanding who you are and what's important to you; learning not to take others' reactions personally; trusting your inner compass; and taking responsibility for your reactions to problematic situations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an in-depth study of the Indo-Pacific region for effective interventions in the megacities system. First, based on several criteria, the region is identified as homogeneous country groupings of diversity, a multi-polar spatial system, and as program regions of QUAD and I2U2 for action programs and investment transcending many nations but mostly the ocean space of the Indo-Pacific, connecting all megacities sub-regions spatially and functionally. Then, the megacities with problems and prospects for economic integration are studied from the point of view of regional economics and international trade, and finally, the rural–urban interface with case studies of selected countries is presented. Prospects of systems of megacities and individual megacities for regional economies are designed. Existing interconnections through rail, air, and ocean of megacity systems, their capacity, performance, and potential are analyzed for emerging issues. International trade among the megacity systems/countries with emerging issues and barriers are presented. The mobility of money, goods, and services among the systems of megacities is analyzed. Rule-based diplomacy and other emerging options are discussed to sustain the above calls for a study of the Security of the Indo-Pacific region. Finally, the emerging architecture for megacity system governance is also presented. Out of 21 megacities in the Indo-Pacific, an in-depth study of a few in India and Japan in the Indo-Pacific region for effective economic interventions in the megacities system at the city level was studied. COVID-19 has affected most of the countries in the Indo-Pacific. With a contraction of GDP and a GDP growth rate negative, the number below the poverty level increased. Foreign Direct Investment is not forthcoming in any of these countries. Job creation becomes a priority in addition to public health concerns connected with COVID-19.

The papers gathered here address three essential problems:- The main approach to engineering in the 21st century is collaboration - at many levels, within universities or colleges, between institutions, and on a global scale. At the same time, we need a new quality of collaboration between academia, industry, professional and governmental organizations. - The complexity of engineering projects and solutions is rapidly growing, and increasingly includes non-technical aspects. - One of the key tasks for future engineers will be the development of a sustainable society, which is essential to keeping the global environment in balance.
