Book Welcome to Long term Care

Download or read book Welcome to Long term Care written by Bilquis Ali and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE PURPOSE OF THIS Welcome to Long-term Care is a simple short guide that provides information to the nurse in long-term care. It is in laymen terms and is a realistic approach so anyone from a nursing assistant to nurse director can put it into practice. What I've found throughout my career, is the lack of mentorship that companies provide to staff to assist in both personal and professional growth and development. Mentorship is so needed in the healthcare profession. This is such a small portion of what our role consists of as well as the day to day operation. I absolutely love what I do. I now mentor nursing assistants, nursing students, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses as well as nurse managers and nurse directors. You will be amazed how much of an impact you can have on someone. If I had a mentor throughout my career, I may have not made as many mistakes that I have and may have been further in my career as well. Although without mistakes, there is no growth. This was definitely an enjoyable experience for me. I will continue to put out information that is merely from my own experiences. As a nurse director, you must understand that nothing changes overnight, and you cannot do this by yourself. It takes a team approach in order to become successful and have good outcomes for your facility. Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Stay focused, hungry and humble and you will get there. Whatever you do, just don't give up...

Book Quality of Life and Well Being for Residents in Long Term Care Communities

This book was released on 2022-06-06 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores key factors long-term care recipients have identified as impacting their quality of life and offers programmatic and policy recommendations to enhance well-being within long-term care communities. Leadership and staff who work in nursing homes and other residential care communities serve as gatekeepers to resident well-being, often without recognizing how residents’ quality of life is impacted by their decision-making. This book takes a life domain approach to build on research-based studies that document key drivers of care recipients’ quality of life, including relationships, autonomy and respect, activities and meals, environment, and care. Using a framework that enhances understanding of resident quality of life, it outlines practical, programmatic, and policy suggestions for long-term care stakeholders, such as administrators, managers, front-line staff, family members, and policy-makers, whose directives and actions impact the lived experience of long-term care residents. As such, this book serves as a roadmap for leaders and managers of long-term care communities, along with policymakers who regulate health and human services, to best structure care environments to maximize quality of life and well-being for long-term care recipients.

Book Listening to the Voices of Long Term Care

Download or read book Listening to the Voices of Long Term Care written by Janet R. Buelow and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As society ages, long-term care services will not only become more competitive, but clients will also be more demanding. Health care professionals need to thoroughly understand seniors and their needs, just as administrators need to understand the motivations and challenges of their staff. This work provides insight into the needs of primary clients (aging individuals and their families) while recognizing the unique characteristics of core staff (nursing assistants and nurses). Each chapter presents the voices of essential individuals within long-term care organizations, from the seniors who use services to the administrators who develop and manage them. Through these voices, readers glimpse a typical day in a nursing home, assisted living facility, and home care agency. The characteristics and needs of all stakeholders in long-term care are analyzed from interviews and workplace observations. Never before has a collection of study results been collated to provide a rich, intimate portrait of the vital aspects of long-term care. Listening to the Voices of Long-Term Care addresses the humanity behind these services, and prepares readers to provide more sensitive, responsive assistance to their clients.
