Book Handbook of Environmental Fate and Exposure Data for Organic Chemicals Volume IV

Download or read book Handbook of Environmental Fate and Exposure Data for Organic Chemicals Volume IV written by Philip H. Howard and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-04-14 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 5-volume set allows you to assess the health and environmental effects of chemicals by determining the routes of exposure of the chemical to sensitive organisms. Environmental Fate and Exposure of Organic Chemicals provides relevant facts on how individual chemicals behave in the environment and how humans and environmental organisms are exposed to the chemicals during their production, rise, transport, and disposal. Each chemical is prepared by one of the best-known organizations in environmental fate and exposure and is peer-reviewed by a panel of expert scientists. The information on each chemical includes all experimental values and references for physical properties, all chemical fate studies, and all available monitoring data and interpretative summaries.

Book Analysis of Trace Organics in the Aquatic Environment

Download or read book Analysis of Trace Organics in the Aquatic Environment written by B. K. Afghan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A supplement to previous books edited by Afgan and Chau, this publication covers the practical aspects of analytical methodology for trace organics. The book reviews the published work on the occurance, distribution, fate, effect, and environmental impact of specific classes of compounds. Essential background information emphasizing practical aspects of various methods with respect to advantages and disadvantages of the published methods is also discussed.

Book Gas Transfer at Water Surfaces

Download or read book Gas Transfer at Water Surfaces written by W. Brutsaert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1983-12-31 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transfer across the surface of environmental waters is of interest as an important phase in the geophysical and natural biochemical cycles of numer ous substances; indeed it governs the transition, one way or the other, be tween the dissolved state in the water and the gaseous state in the atmo sphere. Especially with increasing population and industrialization, gas transfer at water surfaces has become a critical factor in the understanding of the various pathways of wastes in the environment and of their engineering management. This interfacial mass transfer is, by its very nature, highly complex. The air and the water are usually in turbulent motion, and the interface be tween them is irregular, and disturbed by waves, sometimes accompanied by breaking, spray and bubble formation. Thus the transfer involves a wide variety of physical phenomena occurring over a wide range of scales. As a consequence, scientists and engineers from diverse disciplines and problem areas, have approached the problem, often with greatly differing analytical and experimental techniques and methodologies.

Book Fate and Effects of Sediment Bound Chemicals in Aquatic Systems

Download or read book Fate and Effects of Sediment Bound Chemicals in Aquatic Systems written by Kenneth L. Dickson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-11 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fate and Effects of Sediment-Bound Chemicals in Aquatic Systems presents the proceedings of the Sixth Pellston Workshop, held in Florissant, Colorado on August 12–17, 1984. This book presents the development of scientific inquiry of hazards to the aquatic environment. Organized into 27 chapters, this compilation of papers begins with an overview of water quality significance of sediment-associated contaminants to aquatic life. This text then addresses the topic of the role of suspended and settled sediments in regulating the effects of chemicals in the aquatic environment. Other chapters consider the nature and extent of partitioning and bioavailability, which are key elements in research efforts toward assessing the effects of sediments on water quality. This book discusses as well the regulatory and management strategies for chemicals entering public water supplies. The final chapter deals with conclusions and recommendations identified during the workshop. This book is a valuable resource for biologists and environmental scientists.
