Download or read book Engineering of Power Plant and Industrial Cooling Water Systems written by Charles F. Bowman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-08-23 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a reference to analysis techniques of common cooling water system problems and a historical perspective on solutions to chronic cooling water system problems, such as corrosion and biofouling. It covers best design practices for cooling water systems that are required to support the operation of all electric power plants. Plant engineers will gain better understanding of the practical issues associated with their cooling water systems and new designs or modifications of their systems should consider the actual challenges to the systems. The book is intended for graduate students and practicing engineers working in both nuclear and fossil power plants and industrial facilities that use large amounts of cooling water.

Book Thermal Power Plant Cooling

Download or read book Thermal Power Plant Cooling written by Carey Wayne King and published by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on engineering fundamentals of water use for cooling needs of thermoelectric, or steam cycle, power plants, along with environmental and economic contexts. Water has historically been abundant and cheap; however, the ever-growing human demands for fresh surface water and groundwater are potentially putting ecosystems at risk. Water demands for energy production and electric generation power plants are part of total water demand. This book contributes important information to aid a broader discussion of integrated water and energy management by providing background, references, and context for water and energy stakeholders specifically on the topic of water for cooling thermal power plants. This book serves as a reference and source of information to power plant owner/operators, water resource managers, energy and environmental regulators, and non-governmental organizations. From power plant owners wanting to know the tradeoffs in environmental impact and economics of cooling towers to water utilities that might want to deliver waste water for reuse for power plant cooling, this book provides a wide array of regulatory and technical discussion to meet the needs of a broad audience.

Book USE of Mine Pool Water for Power Plant Cooling

Download or read book USE of Mine Pool Water for Power Plant Cooling written by J. A. Veil and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water and energy production issues intersect in numerous ways. Water is produced along with oil and gas, water runs off of or accumulates in coal mines, and water is needed to operate steam electric power plants and hydropower generating facilities. However, water and energy are often not in the proper balance. For example, even if water is available in sufficient quantities, it may not have the physical and chemical characteristics suitable for energy or other uses. This report provides preliminary information about an opportunity to reuse an overabundant water source--ground water accumulated in underground coal mines--for cooling and process water in electric generating facilities. The report was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), which has implemented a water/energy research program (Feeley and Ramezan 2003). Among the topics studied under that program is the availability and use of ''non-traditional sources'' of water for use at power plants. This report supports NETL's water/energy research program.

Download or read book Treatment of cooling water written by Aquaprox and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-12 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many cooling systems use water as cooling medium. They are found in public buildings, industrial production systems or power plants. Almost every cooling system using water is degraded by deposition, corrosion and microbiological fouling. This book identifies the whole bunch of problems due to water cooling systems and proposes specific solutions to all of them. The authors have an expertise of over 20 years solving cooling water problems. In this book, they advise all practitioners which need to plan, buy or operate cooling systems.

This book was released on 2018-08-16 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Estimates of water withdrawals enable the depiction of trends in total water use for the Nation among different geographic areas, categories of use, and sources over time. Water-use information is a critical component of water budgets, which are essential to surface- water and groundwater availability studies. This information is also essential to accurately understand how future water demands will be met while maintaining adequate water quality and quantities for human and ecosystem needs across the United States of America. Data is represented in text abstracts and analysis, tables, chart graphics, and photos presented throughout. The estimates contained within this volume focus on water use for eight (8) categories: Public Supply * Irrigation Self-supplied Domestic * Livestock Aquaculture * Industrial Mining * Thermoelectric Power Related products: Other products produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) are available here: https://bookstore.gpo.gov/agency/us-geological-survey-usgs Check out our Water Management resources collection here: https://bookstore.gpo.gov/catalog/water-management

Book Guidance on Nuclear Energy Cogeneration

Download or read book Guidance on Nuclear Energy Cogeneration written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2019-10-31 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cogeneration, i.e. the production of electricity and heat, has proven to be a highly efficient and environmentally attractive option for energy conversion. Nuclear cogeneration could be considered as an option in light of actions on climate change. However, nuclear cogeneration is not widely deployed. This publication provides a quick introduction to the advantages, experience, and future planning for implementation of nuclear cogeneration. It also highlights some demonstration projects that were developed in the past in connection with industries, describing technical concepts for combined nuclear-industrial complexes. The publication is intended to be of interest to users in academia and industry as well as government agencies and public institutions requiring basic information on various aspects of using nuclear power for cogeneration.

Book Environmental Control in Thermal Power Plants

Download or read book Environmental Control in Thermal Power Plants written by T.M. Aggarwal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-04-08 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From wood and coal to predominantly oil and natural gas. Thermal Power Plants use fuels for power generation. Water is used for process, cooling, as well as for service/drinking requirement. Chemicals are used for conditioning of water, corrosion-control and sometimes for conditioning of fuel as well. Lubricants are used for machinery. These inputs generate waste products. Human related wastes (sewage etc.) are also generated along with the processed waste. These pollutants/wastes need to be treated before their disposal from the plants. The treated effluents are required to meet the limits set by Central / State Pollution Control Boards. The regulations, issued by these agencies, specify the maximum allowable limits applicable to the pollutants discharge from the Power Plants. This book is a serious effort that deals in detail with all the above issues and we are sure that scientists, academicians, researchers and professionals who are constantly facing these issues and are striving to move towards a zero emission regime, will find this monograph a very useful reference tool on the topic.
