Download or read book The Spirit Led Leader written by Timothy C. Geoffrion and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2005-11-14 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Download or read book God Walk written by Mark Buchanan and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on Jesus's example of walking, bestselling author Mark Buchanan explores one of the oldest spiritual practices of our faith. What happens when we literally walk out our Christian life? We discover the joy of traveling at the speed of our soul. We often act as if faith is only about the mind. But what about our bodies? What does our physical being have to do with our spiritual life? When the Bible exhorts us to walk in the light, or walk by faith, or walk in truth, it means these things literally as much as figuratively. The Christian faith always involves walking out, as again and again we find the holy in the ordinary. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, and then he was off. The most obvious thing about Jesus's method of discipleship, in fact, is that he walked and invited others to walk with him. Jesus is always "on the way," "arriving," "leaving," "approaching," "coming upon." It's in the walking that his disciples are taught, formed, tested, empowered, and released. Part theology, part history, part field guide, God Walk explores walking as spiritual formation, walking as healing, walking as exercise, walking as prayer, walking as pilgrimage, suffering, friendship, and attentiveness. It is a book about being alongside the God who, incarnate in Jesus, turns to us as he passes by--always on foot--and says simply, "Come, follow me." With practical insight and biblical reflections told in his distinct voice, Buchanan provides specific walking exercises so you can immediately implement the practice of going "God speed." Whether you are walking around the neighborhood or hiking in the mountains, walking offers the potential to awaken your life with Christ as it revives body and soul.

Download or read book Walking and Talking with Jesus One Day at a Time written by Pauline Romano and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-03-10 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have always loved writing poetry, and I have always written poems for my family and friends for different special occasions in a rhyming format. But ever since I was baptized and became a Christian, I felt this urge in my heart to put into words how good it makes me feel as I talk with Jesus every day! I read my Bible every day, and I love the New Testament! I always read a small booklet called Our Daily Bread, which has scriptures and a short one-page story for each day of the month. I was inspired by this little book. I really enjoy reading it. I'm hoping my book will make it easier for the working people to get in a little time to talk to our Lord and Savior every day. On their way to work, they ride the bus or if they carpool, or maybe even during their lunchbreak. I also hope to reach retired people who might be at home alone and might find some comfort by reading my book. It might also help them learn where a few passages are in the Bible.

Download or read book Determined Women s Bible Study Participant Workbook written by Heather M. Dixon and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live intentionally and embrace abundant life! Imagine waking up every single day convinced that the twenty-four hours ahead of you are a precious gift to be used wisely. Now imagine that you know exactly how to spend them to be a force for God’s good. All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we’ve been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count—not only because we aren’t guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here. How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same. In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We’ll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we’ll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God’s kingdom. And together we’ll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus. The participant workbook includes five days of lessons for each week, combining study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer. It’s time to stop wandering and start living!

Download or read book Walking with Mary written by Edward Sri and published by Image. This book was released on 2013-09-10 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mary appears only a few times in the Bible, but those few passages come at crucial moments. Catholics believe that Mary is the ever-virgin Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth. But she also was a human being--a woman who made a journey of faith through various trials and uncertainties and endured her share of suffering. Even with her unique graces and vocation, Mary remains a woman we can relate to and from whom we have much to learn. In Walking with Mary, Edward Sri looks at the crucial passages in the Bible concerning Mary and offers insight about the Blessed Mother's faith and devotion that we can apply in our daily lives. We follow her step-by-step through the New Testament account of her life, reflecting on what the Scriptures tell us about how she responded to the dramatic events unfolding around her. “This book is the fruit of my personal journey of studying Mary through the Scriptures, from her initial calling in Nazareth to her painful experience at the cross,” writes Edward Sri “It is intended to be a highly readable, accessible work that draws on wisdom from the Catholic tradition, recent popes, and biblical scholars of a variety of perspectives and traditions. With the riches of these insights, we will ponder what her journey of faith may have been like in order to draw out spiritual lessons for our own walk with God.” He add, “It is my hope, therefore, that whether you are of a Catholic, Protestant, or other faith background, this book may help you to know, understand, and love Mary more, and that it may inspire you to walk in her footsteps as a faithful disciple of the Lord in your own pilgrimage of faith.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My purpose in writing this book is to draw the attention of the Christian community to what is happening to the values of the church, how they are being compromised. And how through time, what was once its core values and the central focus of its mission has gradually shifted until many of its original precepts have been lost. It is my hope that through making the church aware of its condition it will awake and once more embrace the teachings of Christ and the scriptures.
Download or read book The Rich Hiker s Guide to Walking with God written by Paul Krautmann and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-06 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rich hiker's guide to walking with God We are all spiritual hikers on a journey towards the Kingdom of God. And we are rich. This inspiring and informative guide starts by looking at the basic attitude and approach we are to have in our walk with God, and goes on to answer such questions as: where, why and how we are to walk, and takes a look at some of the various walking styles we may adopt at different stages of our lives. It also examines a number of pitfalls and potholes we can fall into, and provides some guidelines for spiritual foot care. In this very readable and entertaining guide, Paul Krautmann weaves in some of his own personal experiences and observations, culled from his adventures as church pastor in South America and the Caribbean, and his present work with World Vision in Australia. Having travelled and survived the rocky road from cultish legalism to grace and truth in Jesus Christ, Worldwide Church of God minister Paul Krautmann has learned much about walking with God. Born in England, he trained as a librarian, then worked for two years in Guyana at the National Library as a Voluntary Service Overseas volunteer. During that time, through the ministry of Herbert W. Armstrong, Paul surrendered his life to God, and in 1972 entered Ambassador College, graduating in 1975. He returned to Guyana to work at the National Library, and also to take care of the fledgling church there. He served as full time pastor from 1978 to 1989 when he was transferred to the Caribbean to pastor churches in Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Dominica. In 1999 Paul and his Guyanese wife Unita moved to Perth, Western Australia. They have three children: Emil, Lorna and Paul.

Book excerpt: What if fear is the new brave? That's the question that you need answered if you are living afraid. Finding courage begins with fear itself--fear of the Lord. I Choose Brave reveals a countercultural plan to help you where you are--knee-deep in fears of parenting, the future, your marriage, and a world that feels unstable. In sharing her own compelling story of facing her worst fear, Katie serves up theological truth with relatable application. In this book, you will · discover a fresh take on an old truth that displaces fear once and for all · understand why the culture's idea of "fearlessness" is a farce · access the holy courage you were made for With this new knowledge comes tremendous freedom. Hidden in the cleft of the Rock, the One truly worthy of our fear, you will begin to understand the only path to real courage.
