Book Walking in the Prophetic Tradition

Download or read book Walking in the Prophetic Tradition written by Jason A. Bembry and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-10-31 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contrary to popular belief, the biblical prophets do far more than predict the future. They speak truth to power, they tell the truth about the uncomfortable past, they indict empty religiosity, they advocate for poor people and working people while seeking justice--all at tremendous risk to themselves. In Walking in the Prophetic Tradition Jason Bembry argues that the prophets have too often been domesticated by cultural impulses that reduce the prophetic message to prediction about Jesus or the end times. This book highlights themes addressed by the Old Testament prophets and connects each theme to modern people who exemplify passion for those same ideals. In this sense the prophetic tradition comes to life in the lived testimony of Martin Luther King Jr., Dorothy Day, Myles Horton, Cesar Chavez, and Cornel West--moderns who stand courageously in this tradition. This book is a guide for all who seek a fuller understanding of the Old Testament prophets and who want to continue their work in the present.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today is a day of unparalleled times in the body of Christ. We have seen throughout this last century a restoration of so many things. This truly is a fulfillment of the scripture that Peter was speaking of in Acts 3:21, "A time when God restores all things." Yet, there is a principle of restoration that is clearly seen: The last thing lost is the first thing restored and the first thing lost is the last thing restored. This principle can be seen through history to be so true time after time. You can clearly see this in the teachings and experiences of salvation, baptism, etc. In this restorative process we have been awaiting two major issues: The restoration of the prophet and the restoration of the apostle. When these two offices are fully restored to the church, we will be ready for the great latter-day outpouring of the Holy Spirit as described in the book of Joel. It is clear that the day of restoration of the prophet has come! As in all cases of restoration, extremes have come with it. It is my clear desire, in the writing of this book, to bring an understanding and a balance during this time of the prophet's restoration. Many books have already been written regarding the prophetic, but often only covering certain aspects. My goal is to help create a balanced understanding therefore enabling the reader to understand the prophetic process and response. In this Expanded Version of Walking In The Prophetic, I have taken some of the key points to a higher level of understanding. Five new expansive writings and a new format have been brought to you.

Book Walking in the Prophetic and the Fear of the Lord

Download or read book Walking in the Prophetic and the Fear of the Lord written by Ricki Goral and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not for spiritual sissies. It is not for the fainthearted. It is also not intended in any way to condemn or frighten anyone, but it is intended to set a fire in the midst of the modern church and call the children of God back to holiness and purity and the fear of the Lord. It is time to prepare our wedding garments. Revelation tells us that we are the ones who prepare our own garments.Revelation 19:7; "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."If you truly have a call of God on your life, you will very often find yourself in circumstances not only not of your own making, but also circumstances which are not in any way pleasant or comfortable. They are circumstances you never would have chosen for yourself. Yet, here you are and you are in the right square in the midst of them!God has a way of preparing His own to bring them to a place of humility. In this process He creates servants who have learned to be yielded, obedient and trustworthy.Psalm 24:3-5; Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the Lord And righteousness from the God of his salvation.Don't you think it's time?

Book Walking in Fulfillment of Prophetic Revelation

Download or read book Walking in Fulfillment of Prophetic Revelation written by Jd Ma Auriol Sonia Morris and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2013-06 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God wants to train you to follow His directions for your life. "God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23. Since He is Spirit, God communicates by spiritual means through intimacy. And true worship is how we intimately relate to Him because it opens the channels of communication, and allows His attributes, such as love, to pour over and through us. As these attributes resonate in our own lives, we gain His perspective. That means when problems emerge we can address them with His divine wisdom. Often, we are given instructions in the spirit before anything occurs in the natural. So think of prophetic revelation as knowing the questions and answers before you take the exam. This is how you walk in fulfillment of prophetic revelation. Brilliant! Sonia has written a brilliant and balanced treatise, "Walking in Ful llment of Prophetic Revelation"! Not everyone could tackle this assignment, but Sonia has brought forth a real gift to the Body of Christ. Wisdom drips from every page and delightful insights on making the prophetic practical, understandable, and inviting. Be sure to read it from cover to cover and go on the journey yourself of discovering how your personal prophetic destiny can be ful lled. You will be blessed! Download or read book The Fruits of Madness written by John Tracy Greene and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-11 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fruits of Madness: Perspectives on the Prophetic Movements in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and in Literature brings together selected oral presentations given at the Seminar in Biblical Characters in Three Traditions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) and in Literature held at the University of Vienna, Austria, in July 2014 as part of the Annual International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature. The contributions include work on life on the fringes between two types of lifestyles; the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament prophetic movement phenomenon from the point of view of ancient concerns about the effectiveness of communication between the human and godly realms; resistance led by prophets in ancient Israelite society; the distinction between priests and prophets in ancient Israelite and early Jewish societies; the Prophet Hosea (and his vicissitudes) in the light of the lyrics of the famous Canadian poet and musician, Leonard Cohen; the apocalyptic movements of the exilic and post-exilic eras within Judaism; the biblical Daniel as located at the point of confluence and an agent of prophecy, wisdom, and apocalyptic; and the reliability of God’s/YHWH’s word as mediated to three persons reputed to have received that word. The reader will intuit the theme of liminality in several of the contributors: it dogs the study of prophecy like a great hound its prey. With these writings, the reader is challenged to view the ancient Israelite and early Jewish concern with prophet and prophecy in a fresh and enjoyable, though thought-provoking way, making this volume a worthwhile read.
