Download or read book Who Killed Moosewala The Spiralling Story of Violence in Punjab English written by Jupinderjit Singh and published by Westland Non-Fiction. This book was released on with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A POWERFUL BOOK THAT DETAILS THE DEATH AND THE SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION OF THE MURDER OF ONE OF THE RISING SUPERSTARS OF PUNJABI HIP-HOP. On 29 May 2022, Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala left his haveli in Moosa for a quick ride to his aunt’s house in the neighbouring village. He was never to return home. The singer was ambushed and gunned down by six assailants. He was only twenty-eight. The news of his death spread like wildfire; fans thronged to his village in Mansa district to pay their last respects. Others mourned him on social media. An icon for many, the rebellious young man had also been a controversial figure. There were allegations that he promoted gun culture and violence, and rumours that he had ties with certain gangs. With his sudden and violent death, the questions about his life became louder—as also those around his death. Who had killed Moosewala? Everyone wanted to know. As the police made arrests and the investigation started in earnest, a story began to emerge—one of old enmities, uncomfortable truths, disgruntled youths and the violence that simmers in Punjab, just below the surface of everyday life. In this gripping and fast-paced book, seasoned crime reporter Jupinderjit Singh closely follows the investigation into Moosewala’s death and also offers us glimpses into the man he was behind the mask of celebrity. The story of the slain singer and those behind his murder, this book is also a rumination on the growing unrest in Punjab.

Consider the Filipinos from typhoon-battered areas. Year in and year out, they are subjected to severe weather disturbances, making them lose their property and livelihood, even loved ones. Yet we see them after a few months, standing tall and strong again. Bernadette Sembrano Aguinaldo, a news reporter whose beat was in public service, would go to calamity areas after initial relief operations had been deployed. Her marching order? Find the good news. This first book of hers offers you just that: through stories of ordinary people she encountered on the field, she shares how they find hope and light amidst their trials. She lets us in on her personal life as well, taking note of how her perspective has changed as she savored her moments on the field. May the stories in this book teach you how you can weather your own life's storms as they did to Bernadette.

Book Bibliography of Nigeria

Download or read book Bibliography of Nigeria written by Nduntuei O. Ita and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-05-23 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1971, this major bibliography devoted to Africa’s most populous country – Nigeria – is therefore a timely contribution which must be welcomed by all. The Bibliography of Nigeria contains over 5,400 entries in archaeology, all branches of anthropology, linguistic and relevant historical and sociological studies. Many of the entries carry indicative or informative annotations which have greatly enhanced the usefulness of the work. The history and culture of Africa constitutes a rich area of study and research which is attracting an ever-increasing number of scholars the world over. The new impetus which African studies is receiving in the major centre of learning today has added urgency to the long-neglected problem of bibliographical control of the vast literature. The dearth of bibliographies in the field of African studies has been a main source of frustration to all those working in this area. The book is divided into two parts: part one deals with Nigeria as a whole, and lists general works or those concerned with several regions or several ethnic groups. Part two is devoted to the various ethnic groups. An analytical table of contents, a comprehensive ethnic index, an author index and an index of Islamic studies, together with generous cross-referencing, ensure ready and easy location of individual entries.

Book excerpt: For 24 years that I have been here in this world, marami na akong napagdaanan. Marami na rin akong aral na nakuha mula sa karanasan na ‘yun. Hindi ko naman sinabi na lahat ng karanasan ko ay may makukuha kang aral. Maaaring yung iba, pero hindi lahat. I have bipolar disorder, a lifetime psychological illness. Pero I never treated it like an illness, I treated it like my friend. I even use it to my advantage. Yung tipo na kapag alam ko na manic ako, I use it to write books or be productive ngunit hindi pa rin maiiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng downsides. I will not dig in any further. May love, may drama, may inis, may galit, at may excitement. Sana ma-enjoy n’yo, kasi ako na-enjoy ko habang sinusulat ko ‘to. ‘Pag hindi, edi ‘wag.
