Book Wolff Parkinson White and Other Preexcitation Syndromes

Download or read book Wolff Parkinson White and Other Preexcitation Syndromes written by Ján Hluchý and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-22 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the features of Wolff-Parkinson-White and other preexcitation syndromes with detailed discussion of the management and treatment of these patients. Catheter ablation has become a curative first-line treatment for circus movement tachycardias involving accessory pathway conduction. However, diagnostic and interventional challenges may be associated with anatomically and electrophysiologically complex single accessory pathway conduction, multiple accessory pathways, accessory pathways with other coexistent tachycardias, including atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia and atrial tachycardias, and accessory pathways with coexistent congenital heart disease. The complexity involved requires a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge for performing unequivocally conclusive/meaningful electrophysiological testing and successful catheter ablation. This book is based on the author’s personal long-term experience and contains over 700 illustrations of intracardiac recordings and fluoroscopic images, as well as clear and user-friendly descriptions of the electrophysiologic data, its analysis and interpretation. It therefore offers a comprehensive practical guide for mapping and catheter ablation. The systematic approach is also invaluable for accessory pathways coexistent with other arrhythmias or congenital heart diseases. Wolff-Parkinson-White and Other Preexcitation Syndromes presents the topic as a fascinating part of clinical cardiac electrophysiology and all types of corresponding accessory pathways, which are often associated with diagnostic and interventional challenges. It therefore provides an invaluable educational resource to further scientific and medical knowledge in the topic and will be essential reading for all electrocardiologists and any medical professional that manages these patients.

Book Clinical Approaches to Tachyarrhythmias The Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome

Download or read book Clinical Approaches to Tachyarrhythmias The Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome written by Carlos A. Morillo and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 1997-08-04 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW) is recognized as an abnormality of cardiac rhythm that manifests as supraventricular tachycardia. Few practitioners today appreciate how much the development of clinical cardiac electrophysiology owes to Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome. In the early 1960s, it became the test bed for electrophysiological theory and new therapies. Surgical electrophysiological techniques were developed, the pathways were severed, and the patient was often left with an entirely normal heart. This was an important first in modern cardiology - a complete cure. The aim of the Clinical Approaches to Tachyarryhthmias series is to update the physician, cardiologist, and all those responsible for the the care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias. In this volume, the authors unfold the story of WPW, its precise diagnosis by use of electrocardiography, its successful management and its near extinction in parts of the world reached by modern medical technology, and the remaining challenge it represents in pediatric medicine and in other parts of the globe.

Book Lone Atrial Fibrillation Towards a Cure

Download or read book Lone Atrial Fibrillation Towards a Cure written by Hans R. Larsen and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2015-12-07 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been called the arrhythmia of the millennium. Millions of people suffer from lone atrial fibrillation (AF without underlying heart disease), and many don't even know they have it. There is no universally effective pharmacological treatment for lone atrial fibrillation (LAF) and relevant surgical procedures are expensive and not always successful. I experienced my first LAF episode in 1989 and fairly early on in my afib "career" I realized that if anyone was going to help me it would have to be myself. So I embarked on an intensive study to find out everything I could about LAF and to come up with effective ways of dealing with it. I perused several weighty tomes on cardiac arrhythmias, located and read over 600 peer-reviewed medical articles dealing with the subject and gained much valuable insight from the more than 15,000 postings on my web site bulletin board and the responses from hundreds of afibbers who participated in four major LAF surveys. The results of my research are presented in Lone Atrial Fibrillation: Towards a Cure. The book is a useful manual for novice and veteran afibber alike; it debunks the mystery, myths and confusion surrounding LAF by providing the facts about the disorder liberally interspersed with personal "journeys" of fellow afibbers. Lone Atrial Fibrillation: Towards a Cure clearly describes the mechanism and known and potential causes of LAF; it discusses and assesses the various medical treatment options, both drug-based and surgical, and also covers alternative ways of dealing with LAF. It delves into the vital importance of diet in controlling episode severity and provides a detailed 10-step plan for managing LAF. It is my sincere hope that the book will help instill a feeling of hope and solidarity in the reader. You are no longer alone in the battle with "the beast".

Book Environmental Analysis Laboratory Handbook

Download or read book Environmental Analysis Laboratory Handbook written by Anshul Nigam and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-09-23 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most comprehensive and up-to-date volume on environmental analysis available today, this is the standard laboratory reference for any environmental or chemical engineer, chemist, or scientist. Today, environmental issues are a great cause of concern at the global level, and universities and other institutions around the world are involved in research on climate change, deforestation, pollution control, and many other issues. Moreover, environmental science and environmental biotechnology are inherent parts of various courses while some universities provide degrees in these fields. Although the environment perspective of water is discussed time and again in research, academic, and non-academic discussions, there is no book summarizing protocols involved in water quality analysis. The information seems to be sporadically distributed on the internet. Even if available at all, the information does not discuss limits of the protocols or caveats involved. For example, essays on chemical oxygen demand (COD) on the internet mostly do not discuss differences between organic compounds of biological origin and aliphatic/aromatic. The authors have performed nearly all the protocols mentioned in this new volume, and their protocols are discussed in a simplified, easy-to-understand manner. The book has been written after elaborative discussions with and input from faculty and research students to ensure the clarity of the material for use on many levels. Further, the authors have emphasized low-cost methods which involve minimal use of high-end instrumentation keeping in mind limitations faced in developing countries. A valuable reference for engineers, scientists, chemists, and students, this volume is applicable to many different fields, across many different industries, at all levels. It is a must-have for any library.
