Book Volterra Integral Equations

Download or read book Volterra Integral Equations written by Hermann Brunner and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive introduction to the theory of linear and nonlinear Volterra integral equations (VIEs), ranging from Volterra's fundamental contributions and the resulting classical theory to more recent developments that include Volterra functional integral equations with various kinds of delays, VIEs with highly oscillatory kernels, and VIEs with non-compact operators. It will act as a 'stepping stone' to the literature on the advanced theory of VIEs, bringing the reader to the current state of the art in the theory. Each chapter contains a large number of exercises, extending from routine problems illustrating or complementing the theory to challenging open research problems. The increasingly important role of VIEs in the mathematical modelling of phenomena where memory effects play a key role is illustrated with some 30 concrete examples, and the notes at the end of each chapter feature complementary references as a guide to further reading.

Book Integral Equations a Reference Text

Download or read book Integral Equations a Reference Text written by Zabreyko and published by Springer. This book was released on 1975-01-09 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title 'Integral equations' covers many things which have very little connection with each other. However, they are united by the following important feature. In most cases, the equations involve an unknown function operated on by a bounded and often compact operator defined on some Banach space. The aim of the book is to list the main results concerning integral equations. The classical Fredholm theory and Hilbert-Schmidt theory are presented in Chapters II and III. The preceding Chapter I contains a description of the most important types of integral equations which can be solved in 'closed' form. Chapter IV is an important addition to Chapters II and III, as it contains the theory of integral equations with non-negative kernels. The development of this theory is mainly due to M. G. Krein. The content of the first four chapters is fairly elementary. It is well known that the Fredholm theory has been generalized for equations with compact operators. Chapter V is devoted tothis generalization. In Chapter VI one-dimensional (i.e. with one dependent variable) singular integral equations are considered. The last type of equations differ from that considered in the preceding chapters in that singular integral operators are not compact but only bounded in the usual functional spaces.

Book Analytical and Numerical Methods for Volterra Equations

Download or read book Analytical and Numerical Methods for Volterra Equations written by Peter Linz and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1985-01-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents an aspect of activity in integral equations methods for the solution of Volterra equations for those who need to solve real-world problems. Since there are few known analytical methods leading to closed-form solutions, the emphasis is on numerical techniques. The major points of the analytical methods used to study the properties of the solution are presented in the first part of the book. These techniques are important for gaining insight into the qualitative behavior of the solutions and for designing effective numerical methods. The second part of the book is devoted entirely to numerical methods. The author has chosen the simplest possible setting for the discussion, the space of real functions of real variables. The text is supplemented by examples and exercises.

Book Volterra Integral Equations and Topological Dynamics

Download or read book Volterra Integral Equations and Topological Dynamics written by Richard K. Miller and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1970 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this paper is to show how Volterra integral equations may be studied within the framework of the theory of topological dynamics. Part I contains the basic theory, as local dynamical systems are discussed together with some of their elementary properties. The notation of compatible pairs of function spaces is introduced. Part II contains examples of compatible pairs, as these spaces are studied in some detail. Part III contains some applications of the first two parts.

Book excerpt: This volume comprises selected papers presented at the Volterra Centennial Symposium and is dedicated to Volterra and the contribution of his work to the study of systems - an important concept in modern engineering. Vito Volterra began his study of integral equations at the end of the nineteenth century and this was a significant development in the theory of integral equations and nonlinear functional analysis. Volterra series are of interest and use in pure and applied mathematics and engineering.

Book Integral Equations of First Kind

Download or read book Integral Equations of First Kind written by A. V. Bitsadze and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies classes of linear integral equations of the first kind most often met in applications. Since the general theory of integral equations of the first kind has not been formed yet, the book considers the equations whose solutions either are estimated in quadratures or can be reduced to well-investigated classes of integral equations of the second kind.In this book the theory of integral equations of the first kind is constructed by using the methods of the theory of functions both of real and complex variables. Special attention is paid to the inversion formulas of model equations most often met in physics, mechanics, astrophysics, chemical physics etc. The general theory of linear equations including the Fredholm, the Noether, the Hausdorff theorems, the Hilbert-Schmidt theorem, the Picard theorem and the application of this theory to the solution of boundary problems are given in this book. The book studies the equations of the first kind with the Schwarz Kernel, the Poisson and the Neumann kernels; the Volterra integral equations of the first kind, the Abel equations and some generalizations, one-dimensional and many-dimensional analogues of the Cauchy type integral and some of their applications.
