Book Relationships Between Performance on the Vocational Interest Career Examination and Reported Job Satisfaction

Download or read book Relationships Between Performance on the Vocational Interest Career Examination and Reported Job Satisfaction written by William E. Alley and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the validation of an Air Force vocational interest inventory in the enlisted force. The Vocational Interest-Career Examination (VOICE) was administered to 18,000 recruits during basic military training. After approximately one year on the job, they were surveyed to determine the extent to which they were satisfied with their respective occupational assignments. Individual aptitude variables from the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) served as control measures. Multiple regression analyses were used to characterize relationships between entry-level interests and eventual job satisfaction and to explore moderating effects due to sex and aptitude scores. Results of analyses indicated that the VOICE subscale provided reliable and significant prediction of job satisfaction for both males and females. Recommendations for operational implementation of the procedure were discussed. (Author).

Book The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention

Download or read book The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention written by Kenn Finstuen and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research was to assess the concurrent and predictive validity of occupational attitudes, as measured by the Air Force Occupational Attitude Inventory (OAI), in relation to global job satisfaction, reenlistment intent, and actual reenlistment behavior of first-term enlisted airmen. The OAI was administered to two samples of airmen consisting of 1,217 personnel in 1973 and 4,784 personnel in 1975. When considered as a set, the OAI items were found to bear a strong relationship to global job satisfaction, a somewhat lesser relationship to reenlistment behavior. These relationships maintained their significance when the baseline effects of 53 biographical and job-related variables were held constant in regression analyses. Findings indicated that global job satisfaction was associated with the following: job challenge, the use of airman abilities, and feelings of accomplishment. Reenlistment intent and actual reenlistment were most highly associated with satisfaction with pay and benefits as compared to civilian jobs, the consideration the Air Force gave enlistees, removal of irritants, and contributions to the national defense. Cross-validation of the 1973 and 1975 equations revealed that these relationships were stable through time.

Book The Effects of Perceived Over Qualification on Job Satisfaction Organizational Commitment and Turnover A Study of AFIT Graduates

Download or read book The Effects of Perceived Over Qualification on Job Satisfaction Organizational Commitment and Turnover A Study of AFIT Graduates written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U, S Air Force provides multiple program to increase the educational skills of its workforce. This study focuses on the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) graduate level, in-residence degree program. The Air Force is making a significant investment in the education of its members. Studies on perceived overqualification, overeducation, and match quality suggest that utilization plays a role in an individual's job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Job satisfaction and organizational commitment levels can be used as predictors of turnover. This research studies the levels of perceived overqualification in AFIT graduates and how it effects their job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover. Data for this research was collected using an on-line survey tool, Facilitate.com. Analysis indicates that US Air Force officers who perceived that they were overqualified for their AFIT follow-on assignment did experience lower levels of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The hypotheses, results, and analysis of this study are presented along with recommendations and suggestions for future research.

Book The Influence of Outsourcing on Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intentionsof Air Force Civil Engineer Company Grade Officers

Download or read book The Influence of Outsourcing on Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intentionsof Air Force Civil Engineer Company Grade Officers written by James F. Kennedy and published by . This book was released on 2000-03-01 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A survey was distributed to 865 active duty Air Force Civil Engineer company grade officers (CGOs) assigned to locations throughout the world. The survey was designed to assess the CGOs' current job satisfaction and their intentions towards making a career out of the Air Force. Additionally, the survey measured the CGOs' perceptions of outsourcing, and how they feel that it will influence the Civil Engineer career field. Relationships were evaluated between the perceptions of outsourcing and job satisfaction, and between job satisfaction and turnover intentions. Overall, Civil Engineer CGOs reported a slightly positive level of satisfaction and a negative perception of outsourcing. Path analysis revealed a negative relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intentions, and a positive relationship between the perceptions of outsourcing and job satisfaction. However, these relationships were only moderate.

Book Effects of Duty Schedule Variance and Overtime on the Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intentions of USAF F 16 Crew Chiefs

Download or read book Effects of Duty Schedule Variance and Overtime on the Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intentions of USAF F 16 Crew Chiefs written by Michael J. Shellhamer and published by . This book was released on 2004-03-01 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis empirically assessed how duty schedule variance and overtime affect the job satisfaction and turnover intentions of USAF F-16 crew chiefs. A survey was completed by 346 active duty USAF F-16 crew chiefs regarding their perceptions of duty schedule variance, overtime, job satisfaction and intent to leave the Air Force. Theory suggests that turnover behavior is a multistage process that involves organizational, individual, and attitudinal components. Using multivariate correlation and regression analyses, plausible evidence was found to support the idea that duty schedule variance and overtime plays a role in USAF F-16 crew chief turnover intentions via job satisfaction. Additional evidence supported the theory that these path relationships changed in strength for demographic sub-categories based on age, but not for education, length of service, marital status or number of dependents

Book A Comparison of the Job Attitudes and Interest Patterns of Air Traffic and Airway Facility Personnel

Download or read book A Comparison of the Job Attitudes and Interest Patterns of Air Traffic and Airway Facility Personnel written by Roger C. Smith and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air traffic control specialists (ATCSs) and airway facility technicians (AFTs) were compared on measures of job attitudes and interests. A total of 792 ATCSs and 2,366 AFTs completed the Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) and questionnaires concerning job satisfaction and job attitudes. Both groups indicated high overall job satisfaction and general agreement about areas of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. However, ATCSs reported more satisfaction than AFTs from various aspects of the work itself and from salary, while AFTs were more satisfied with responsibility, working conditions, and Civil Service retirement. The AFTs were more favorable to management than ATCSs. On the SVIB, ATCSs had higher scores than AFTs on scales concerned with interpersonally oriented vocations (e.g., social service, sales) and lower scores on technical-scientific occupational scales. The findings suggest that these two employee groups have much in common with respect to their attitudes toward work while at the same time having certain discriminable characteristics that have implications for both personnel and motivational programs. Book Job Satisfaction for Male and Female U S Air Force Officers

Download or read book Job Satisfaction for Male and Female U S Air Force Officers written by Espen Amundsen and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigated the relationship between job satisfaction and gender by examining factors considered to be determinants of job satisfaction among junior U.S. Air Force officers. The data used in this research were from the 1985 DoD Survey of Officers and Enlisted Personnel. Bivariate analysis, factor analysis and regression analysis were performed to determine the effect of gender on those factors considered to be determinants of job satisfaction. No difference in level of job satisfaction was found between male and female officers, but differences were found in the variables that explained job satisfaction for male and female officers. An understanding of job satisfaction and the relationship of gender to the factors that determine officers' job satisfaction may give military policymakers and leaders greater opportunities to affect job satisfaction and thereby affect job performance and career intention.

Book An Investigation of the Factors which Affect the Career Selection Process of Air Force Systems Command Company Grade Officers

Download or read book An Investigation of the Factors which Affect the Career Selection Process of Air Force Systems Command Company Grade Officers written by Richard J. Mosbach and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the individual perceptions and attitudes which affect the career selection decision of Air Force Systems Command company grade officers. This research included a literature review of recent work in the area of career turnover. The review identified two major theoretical developments which were postulated to add significant predictive power to Lewis' approach: (1) the effect of a person's motivation to comply with the expectations of others and (2) the effect of a person's current job satisfaction. The purpose was to operationalize the aforementioned concepts in a single model which explained the most variance in individual career intentions. A survey was completed by 2200 company grade officers throughout Systems Command. The results of the data analyses showed that a model which addressed not only the perceived attraction of job alternatives, but also the effects of the expectations of others, and current job satisfaction more accurately described an individual's career selection decision.
